Marissa Limon was nominated by her principal, Lisa Lovato.

"When I arrived at the campus eight years ago, Marissa Limon had just completed her first year as at teacher. I instantly recognized the natural talents she had to impact student achievement," said Lovato. "Marissa's willingness to grow as a leader, collaborate with colleagues, and flexibility to accept varied positions has helped our campus improve from 73% passing to 93% passing on TEA accountability. Marissa looped up with her students 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th, and then transitioned to a coordinator position. She assisted the team in writing a $2.5 million grant for personalized learning, which resulted in full funding."

As needs for the campus changed, Ms. Limon went back to school to get certified as an administrator and has just completed her first year as an assistant principal. She's instrumental in creating a student-centered environment by co-facilitating professional development that models innovative strategies. Since Ms. Limon became the assistant principal, parent surveys have increased from 86% positive to 96% positive. Many parents and community members appreciate her welcoming approach and inclusive demeanor. She is impacting students statewide. She assists in leading educator tours that share best practices in blended learning, social emotional learning, and project based learning.
