Chantal Osborne was nominated by her colleague, Dr. Mary Joan Connors.
As the consummate LifeChanger, Ms. Osborne oversees a multicultural and multi-ethnic population of students in the North and South Beach areas of Miami-Dade County. The local newspaper refers to this area as part of the most complex county in the United States. MBA accommodates a diverse population, enrolling students from around the world who speak a host of different languages. Day and evening classes take place at three elementary schools and one senior high school.
Inherent in Ms. Osborne's daily responsibilities is a sensitivity to the students who enroll in the main and satellite centers for the rapid acquisition of English. As a poly-lingual (English, Spanish, French, Haitian-Creole, and Portuguese) principal with familial ties to numerous cultures, Ms. Osborne uses her skills daily to change the lives of hundreds of newly-arrived immigrant learners. She takes professional responsibility for helping students to bridge language and cultural barriers.
Osborne's everyday mission reaches beyond adult learners. She oversees the only after-school childcare programs run by adult centers. On any given day, she can be seen reading to preschool learners and inspiring them to become lifelong readers. A 24-year veteran of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools district, Ms. Osborne has moved, with a quiet confidence, from classroom teacher to district and school administrator. Her genuine belief in the potential of each learner serves as a catalyst for the students, teachers, and staff. She is a true LifeChanger whose expectations are firm, but fair. These are augmented by her charismatic presence, sense of humor, and consistent support for students and employees alike.
Ms. Osborne represents the best of Miami Dade County Public Schools administrators. Her caring attitude is contagious and she sets the tone for a well organized school. I am the Pre-K activity leader for the after school program and I really appreciate all that Ms. Osborne has done for me and my co-workers.
Ms. Chantal Osborne really deserves this nomination! She is a wonderful administrator who supports her staff and students each day. I am the activity leader for second grade and up and I know that Ms. Osborne will go out of her way at any time that I request her help. She is a caring principal and an even better supervisor.
I am the after-school kindergarten activity leader at the Miami Beach Adult & Community Education Center (located at Fienberg-Fisher K-8) and I feel proud to support Ms. Osborne for this great award. Ms. Osborne has been fully supportive of our program since she took the helm as principal and she shows that she cares every day. I admire and respect her. Please consider her nomination!

Ms. Chantal Osborne represents the best of what we have in our school district. Honest, kind, funny, and completely supportive, Ms. Osborne has an "open door" policy. She is always ready to support her teachers. She demonstrates her concern for her faculty and staff on a daily basis. Even though she has numerous responsibilities, she is never far away when needed. A willing learner, Ms. Osborne has no ego. She makes sure her staff is recognized and that they have everything they need to be successful. In my former life I was a principal and administrative director, supervising many, many principals. I am here to state, unequivocally, she is on a par with the best of them. One can only imagine what she will be doing once she finishes her first year. The sky is the limit.

Transitioning from a classroom teacher to a literacy coach was a difficult adjustment for me. As the school’s literacy coach, I became part of the school’s Leadership Team and had no idea what this all entailed. Luckily, I had Mrs. Osborne to guide me along the way. When I was having a horrible day planning with the teachers, she was there to guide me on how to make the next common planning session more impactful. Whenever I was conflicted and didn’t know which path to choose, I always knew I could rely on Mrs. Osborne to provide me insight. If it wasn’t for Mrs. Osborne, I wouldn’t be in my profession without her guidance.
.As the afterschool care director at Treasure Island Elementary School, I feel honored to express my support for Ms. Chantal Osborne's prestigious nomination.
