Leslie Barrett was nominated by Karen Keith, a member of the community.

Ms. Barrett is truly a one of a kind teacher and individual. She has the most welcoming and infectious smile you will ever come across. She is a teacher's assistant at Union Pines High School in Carthage, North Carolina.

"I first met Leslie when my dad, Terry Keith, and I were working at her school. Leslie stopped me in the hallway with the biggest smile to make sure I would stop by to see her before I left, and I am so glad that I did," said Keith

Ms. Barrett is the most humble, giving individual. She decorates her classroom each year and truly makes it a "home away from home" for her students. She allows her students to become unique, independent individuals, while also fostering one on one relationships with them and making them feel like a part of her classroom family.

"Leslie is a LifeChanger becuase of the positive impact she has on her students, peers, and the community," said Keith.

I’m so happy to see this! I have known Leslie since high school and she has always been giving and had a positive attitude! Her smile has always just lit up the room and I can honestly say she is one of the best people I have ever known!

Leslie is one AWESOME young lady, mother, wife sister and much more. She will give her last to whomever she see is in need. She is very talented in all she does. I love how she always has something positive to say to each and everyone she encounters. She has a BIG HEART and does so much for others but still finds time to spend with her family. Leslie is an amazingly talented lady; She is a leader, She cares for everyone around her, and has the biggest heart of anyone I know! She especially loves her students, and her job to the fullest! Leslie and I went to Union Pines High School together and she was always a joy to be around. She could light up a room with 1 of her beautiful smiles. We shared a few laughs together and I currently enjoy seeing her on facebook and Instagram. She has a beautiful family and she is very talented. She deserves this award and im praying she gets it.

Leslie has always been an inspiration to me. She is a genuine kind hearted person. She is always giving and never expecting anything in return. There are so many stories I could share about Leslie and why she is a lifechanger. My favorite would be a general story. Leslie is always helping out someone. She started making pillows with her students. Inspiring them to be entrepreneurs and showing them what small things can do to help someone. She is just an all around awesome person and I love her very dearly. I hope to be just half the person she is. ??
