Music that Describes Karolarnica

Karolarnica Adams was nominated by her principal, Shyulanda Randle-Filer.

Mrs. Adams assists students in being the best they can possibly be by encouraging participation in various activities outside of academics. She sponsored student council at her previous campus, where students were able to collect and distribute both Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to a local elderly community. Other examples of how Mrs. Adams gives back to her community are by bringing gifts to local nursing facilities to brighten the days of the people living there, reading books to the feeder elementary campuses, and hosting campus events to assist in boosting teacher morale and building a positive campus climate of family and love.

Mrs. Adams also sponsored an all-girls group geared toward helping teens deal with relationships along with strategies for dealing with stress and peer pressure. These young ladies met monthly, and they talked about things they were dealing with by participating in group discussions with community volunteers. Realizing how effective her program was, Mrs. Adams continued her charge at Smith Middle School. She co-sponsored the NJHS, where she assisted in the induction ceremony of the members and led school activities such as end of year transitional grade levels. In addition, she hosted a school carnival and participated in campus mentorships. Today, she is still in contact with students she has mentored who are now young adults.

Currently, Mrs. Adams is co-sponsoring another girl’s empowerment group called the Dazzling Diamonds. These ladies were identified based on teacher observations (sitting along, never smiling, etc). They meet weekly and participate in a group roundtable discussion, where they learn strategies for dealing with bullying, stress at home, peer pressure, self-esteem, and beautification, suicide prevention, etc. All of the girls communicate daily with Mrs. Adams, and she offers suggestions and feedback on how to deal with their situations. The girls are currently preparing to participate in the creation of a vision board where they will narrow their focus on what they want to obtain in the near future (2nd semester of this school year).

Mrs. Adams is also sponsoring the school's hospitality committee this year, which has hosted a campus “Thankful Thursday” luncheon for the staff and will be hosting the “Food for the Soul” Luncheon in February. These luncheons are meant to allow staff members the opportunity to share in a meal with co-workers and get to learn something new about another team member they may not know already. The hospitality committee has sent small tokens to team members who may be grieving due to the loss of a family member and celebrate the joining of families.

"Mrs. Adams' service to Smith’s campus and Beaumont Independent School District is priceless and deserving of a LifeChanger Award," said Randle-Filer.

I work with Mrs. Adams, at Smith Middle School. She is always encouraging our students to be the best even when they don't believe it. She always greets each student every student in the morning with "Good My Baby now where is that I.D.". The students get a kick out of hiding their i.d.s just so that Mrs. Adams can speak to them or pick at them. She comes early and stays late. She is very decaticted to the success of students. No one deserves this more than she does.

I currently work alongside Mrs. Adams as an integral part of our Instructional Leadership Team. Mrs. Adams has employed me as her accountability partner. There isn’t a meeting that she has with her team or a strategy she is implementing where she doesn’t ask for feedback. Randomly, she will take me aside and ask, is there anything I need to work on? For an educator to seek reflection from a different pair of eyes is aside from phenomenal. This is a rare trait. Mrs. Adams is always seeking to grow professionally to grow her team she leads to impact student success. She is the epitome of hard work and going above the call of duty to do an exceptional job in the lives of every path she crosses. She is forever Smith’s LifeChanger.

I work with Ms. Adams. She is always there for the students, supporting them and encouraging them. She reinforces a positive attitude and making right choices. In addition, she is always there to lend a helping hand to any of her co-workers that need help. Ms. Adams' dedication and devotion alone makes her a very good choice to receive the Life Changer of the Year Award! She is a Life Changer! I strongly recommend her to receive the Life Changer of the Year Award.

I worked with Mrs. Adams as her mentor in Beaumont ISD. She was always striving to learn more and do more! She has grown into a phenolnal math Teacher. She has helped raised STAAR Scores across all grade levels on every Middle School Campus she’s worked on. She builds great relationships with her students and has a real connection with middle school aged children, which is rare. Both of my children had her as a Math Teacher. Mrs. Adams worked with my children when they were “not her students”. She was innovate with her lessons, always encouraging them to aim high and never give up! Now that they are in High School, her impact on building their mathematical background is definitely paying off! Mrs. Adams is willing to share her expertise with new teachers and veteran teachers. She is a “hands-on” person. Ready and willing to help her kids, teachers and Administrators at any time. I highly recommend Mrs. Adams for this award. You will not find a better canidate!

I am a co-worker from Mrs. Adams’ previous campus. She was not only an awesome teacher, she was also a really great person to work with. She was very involved with the students on our campus during her time there being a part of multiple organizations such as: Student Council, cheerleaders, etc. There wasn’t very much that she wasn’t involved in. It was a pleasure being able to work with her and her current campus is lucky to have such an asset available to them.
