Angela Fields was nominated by her colleague, Vivian Bryant.

What is an educator? According to the Living English Oxford Dictionaries, an educator is a person who provides instruction or education. That makes the job of educator sound very simple, but there's more to it than that. Ms. Fields, for example, works with the special education students at Cedar Crest, providing them with academic strategies, life skill strategies, and motivation to better themselves as they grow older.

Ms. Fields works in a Title I elementary school. Many students have challenges such as poverty and low parent involvement, and they require a lot of special care to succeed. Ms. Fields became CPI-trained to focus on modifying the challenging social emotional behavior students present at school.

"Angela has the right spirit to work with our students. She envisions them as productive adults and helps them to see a brighter future as well," said Bryant. "She not only works with the students, but works closely with the parents to help with keeping their children on track as they matriculate through the education system."

Ms. Fields has created a non-profit organization, Rae’s Hope, which she uses to fulfill her vision for the future of children and young adults by building balanced skills in various aspects of life to develop self esteem as a foundation for demonstrating self-reliance. Her very effective program challenges girls to become self-reliant and lead fulfilling lives. This organization received accolades for community service from local newspapers, the mayor of Dallas, and Ebony Magazine.

Ms. Fields uses her success with this program as a stepping stone to encourage young girls. She has a mentoring program under the guise of a volleyball team that she uses to teach life skills and empower these at-risk students to become productive citizens. She involves the girls in community service projects, technology workshops, and physical fitness activities.

The girls love the program, and it appears to be the highlight of their week. Ms. Fields provides them with the opportunity to continue learning in a caring atmosphere. During her career as an educator and working in the community, Ms. Fields has worked with over 10,000 young women and young men, teaching them how to persevere throughout their lives.

"Angela is an educator who helps children learn the skills necessary to become productive citizens in a busy community," said Bryant.

Mrs. Fields is a spectacular teacher. She has a heart for children and is very nurturing. She is always looking for ways to help expand leaning on both an intellectual and socio-emotional level. As a colleague she gives an enormous amount of support and is a highly dedicated, high-energy teacher. She truly deserves this honor.

I had the pleasure to meet Mrs. Fields back in early 2005 at Albert Sidney Johnston Elementary School, she was teacher to my son Devonte. Mrs. Fields always kept me updated and informed about Devonte. Shortly I heard of a fitness program at the school, at that time I got my daughter involved with Mrs. Fields club at the school. By that time me and Mrs. Fields became friends, she is such a kind hearted lady, exceptional teacher, a teacher who Cares about the kids! After some time, she invited me to bring my daughter to check out her non-profit RAES HOPE. Long story to short story my daughter Asija Woodson has been a member of Raes Hope for about 10 years now, I started out just being a parent. From that point I begin to help volunteer and then was appointed the title of Site coordinator of Raes Hope. I would like to say, You have the best nominee for lifechangeroftheyear! Mrs. Angela Fields, she is a go getter and she puts the kids First, she goes over and beyond to make sure the kiddos have tranportation to special events, Mrs. Fields is a very Significant person in Our community. She gets things Done. I could go on and on about Mrs. Fields. I will end with her mission: Reviving communities one child at a time! Educator, Leader, Mentor. She has touched the lives of many students, parents, and people in the community. She is deserving of this nomination and deserving of the Award!

I have worked with Angela for over ten years. She is totally committed to all children. On many occasions I have seen Ms. Fields encourage and challenge the students to think about what they're doing and to make better choices. She is also an excellent supporter to the staff at our school. The time and effort spent on others just proves her calling is being fulfilled. Angelia's dedication to children and people makes her a strong candidate for this award.

Angela Fields is and outstanding Educator, Mentor, Community leader and Individual. I work closely with her at Rae's Hope, the non-profit organization that she co-founder with her husband. Her capacity to support all children, but especially young disadvantaged girls in the South Dallas area is remarkable. In addition to working fulltime in DISD, she often spend 2 to 3 night a weeks and many Saturdays teaching and molding young girls in Life Skills, Healthy Living, Financial Literacy, Reading, Physical Fitness and Volleyball. The girls that have had experienced the Rae's Hope programs has exhibited lower pregnancy rates, better grades, lower dropout rates, higher graduation rate when compared to other of the same geographic area. Rae's Hope just completed it tenth year of operations under Angelia's guidance. There are many that talk about change, but Angela is actually achieving change in the community. I strongly support and ask that you consider and give Angela this award for she has truly earned it.

I have known Angela over 10 years and have come to admire her tenacity and her passion for Rae’s Hope. I have never known a more driven, dedicated, go getter than Angela. I have watched her place her own interest time and time again even during her battle with cancer below those of the girls she served and could not be more impressed with her zest to will these girls to success. It’s without reservation I stand with profound belief she will continue to be a life changer on a grander stage.

My daughter, Angela Fields is compassionate and serious in her pursuit and effort in improving the lives of young people in today’s world. She sees the potential in many young people but because of their lack of confidence and education they are not able to excel in their work and life. Through her program, Rae’s Hope, she provide the attention, love, skills and other means of support for these young people. So many of the youngsters don’t have parents or substantial living conditions but she looks for ways and means to help them. Please consider Angela Fields as a nominee for this award.

Angela devotes her entire life to offering education and guidance to others so they may improve their own prospects. All day. Every day. She needs someone who has the resources to make Rae’s Hope the beneficiary of a $1mm endowment so she can fund her program from the investment returns, but have the foundation to attract others to build the structure and team to make her dream self-sustaining. Not all may succeed, but Angela gives every child her best. Angela Fields deserves recognition and support. Wonderful of Ms Bryant to nominate Angela.
