Rosalinda Perez was nominated by her colleague, Theresa Grimaldo.
Ms. Perez has worked with Donna ISD for 28 years, and is an outstanding educator with one of the biggest hearts. She consistently goes above and beyond with job requirements, and she inspires her athletes to try their hardest at all times and play with good sportsmanship.
Ms. Perez has worked with the toughest of kids with many challenges at home, and she has inspired them to participate in sports. Her life skills class enjoys her silliness and ability to continuously find ways to make sure they participate in the activities. She is constantly helping new coaches with their responsibilities and finding ways to make their transitions to coaching easier.
Ms. Perez is the only female Middle School Coordinator in the District, and she ensures that even male coaches follow her directives. Although being the person in charge is a challenge, she has made it work for the past four years. Ms. Perez has also molded championship teams, including last year's eighth grade soccer team, who were co-district champions. She is constantly asked to be in charge of different committees and activities due to her creativeness and generosity. She has been involved with Special Olympics for over 15 years, as this activity holds a special place in her heart.
I have known Coach Perez for about 4 years; although it feels like I known her longer. Coach Perez is such a wonderful person. She has so many good qualities in her that I have seen personally. Her heart is always in the right place, she cares so much for her students, athletes and faculty members. She’s always willing to go that extra step to help others. It takes an extraordinary person to work in the field of education. As a Coach and teacher she always demonstrates great leadership skills. She always carries a positive attitude and is friendly to everyone. Coach Perez is a hard working individual and has involved herself in different activities such as Special Olympics, Relay for Life and is a P.E Coordinator at Veterans Middle School. Although being a P.E Coordinator can be a handful, she manages to get everything done. She has a passion to work with life skills and loves to coach and involve herself to get the students ready for their Special Olympics events. Coach Perez is an extraordinary person one that I can say that deserves Lifechanger of the Year.
Most kind hearted person I have come to know in my lifetime, I can honestly say she is my favorite person I can trust and she is a person that I will always have my back no matter what the outcome is of any situation. Rosalinda Perez deserve to be life changer of the year.
Linda is not only a great coach but a great person in and out of the workfield. She always goes above and beyond her duties. She has a great reputation with the students ,and they respect her because of how she interacts with them. She’s at work early in the morning and doesn’t leave until late at night ensuring athletes success.
Rosalinda Perez is a true optimist, and it is her positive attitude that helps her accomplish whatever task she has been assigned. Coach Perez is a go-getter, who will go that extra mile to give it her best. However, she is an excellent team leader, as she not only makes sure that everything is completed on time, but also encourages her team members to put in their very best efforts. She is a great listener, and this makes people approach her with their problems, which she solves with intelligence and care.
I have known Coach Perez for about six years. She is an individual who goes the extra mile to assist her students and colleagues. She has devoted herself to do what is best for the students. Coach Perez possesses a big heart, always willing to lend a helping hand. I know we can count on her to help with any situation we might encounter — congratulations Coach Perez on this well-deserved nomination.
I have known Coach Perez for eight years. In the years I have known her she has been exceptional. She is giving, caring and thoughtful on how she provides services to all her students. She is a hardworking individual and well deserving of this nomination.
I have worked closely with Coach R. Perez for the last 13-14 years. She was one of my mentors prior to becoming a certified teacher. Later, she became my colleague, after convincing me to assist coaching after school. She is always a helping-hand around campus. She has volunteered for over 5 years as our Relay for Life coordinator. She has spearheaded several fundraisers to raise money for our student body, Relay for Life and our athletic department. She has also taken the initiative to lead our annual STAAR Rally and Special Olympics over the last 4 years. Above all, she is a PE Coordinator/Teacher/Athletic Coach... in which she continues to guide, teach and mold our students and staff on a daily basis. I'd say she is well qualified to be 'Lifechanger of the Year'.
About 20 years ago Rosalinda Perez became my teacher assistant and since then I knew she was destined to greatness. Whatever task she was given, either working in a small group or creating an activity for students, was done in a timely and in an exceedingly professional manner. She is the most resilient individual I know. She never gave up her dream of becoming a teacher. Rosalinda Perez success, I believe, is due to her knowledge, motivation, experience and commitment to her students and fellow colleagues. She strives to be the best and tries to instill this in all who comes in contact with her be it students, staff and administrators. She is an inspiration and a true leader. I have come to surmise Rosalinda Perez is a hardworking individual who will do great in anything she is asked to do or preform. With her leadership she has caused some life changes in her students and fellow colleagues.
Coach Perez was my coach 12 years ago and I still remember the motivation she instilled in me and my classmates... then I come back to my middle school as a teacher and there she was, still doing what she knows best! Not only was she a familiar face that made me feel comfortable during my first year of teaching, she offered me the chance to coach my own set of athletes. 12 years later and she still see’s something in me. I can only imagine how many other athletes/ students she has motivated and pushed to be their best. Any questions I have, she’s there to answer. A helpful hand she is to me and anyone else who needs it. Thanks for being awesome coach!!
The compassion and commitment that Rosalinda Perez has demonstrated as an educator is exceptional and is easily recognized. I have only to think about all the times that Coach Perez has been supportive of campus activities and has offered to lend a helping hand during Red Ribbon Week, Career Day, and Awards Assemblies to name a few. She does not hesitate to go the extra mile to help not only her student athletes but also students who need someone to believe in them and to give them an opportunity to build greater self-confidence and a sense of belonging by being part of a team; she works hard to inspire students and motivates them to improve their grades and behavior as well as encourages students to set and achieve positive goals. Not only is Coach Perez a team player and a role model for her students, she has also demonstrated her leadership skills by spearheading various committees on our campus such as "Relay for Life" and "Special Olympics" and has organized the annual STAAR Rally, working diligently to invite community guest speakers that convey positive and relevant messages for our students. I believe that Coach Perez is truly a "Life Changer" because of her positive attitude, her generosity, her willingness to help others, and for taking the time to listen to her students and to offer words of encouragement. Her extraordinary efforts as an educator have enabled Coach Perez to "change lives"!!!
I have know Ms Perez since i have work here around 8 yrs. She works well with our students here at Veterans middle school, She work with students that have special needs, I have seen her work very hard with our life skills class the kids love her and enjoy the way she treats them she make them laugh and she always finds ways to make sure that they participate in the games she presents to them. She is also involves with Special Olympics.

I've known Coach Perez for a little over 10 years now and she has been such a great leader and educator when I was her student athlete. I always remember what a great coach she was/still is and how much I looked up to her with the advice she would tell us and go out of her way to make us better student athletes. My sister was also one of her athletes and I remember them winning district in basketball on the last shot of the game. Motivating her athletes is always her number one priority and she instills that up to this day. Now as her colleague I've seen how hard of a worker she is and how much she influences the students in a positive way. Especially that now she is the only female coordinator in the entire Donna School district shows how much she wants to take on the responsibility and long hours of being such a high title as the PE department head, Special Olympics and Athletic Coordinator. Being in charge of that department is not easy because of the amount of people and work that goes in within that position. She manages her time very well and goes out of her way to help out anyone. Including her student athletes they look up to her and have such a great respect for her. I think she deserves the LifeChanger of the year because she puts so much effort in her work in and out of the classroom, and has so many life changing events that have molded her into the amazing person she is today.
The one thing that separates Linda from other educators in her field is the LITTLE EXTRA she gives. She goes that extra mile to INSPIRE her students. She is their teacher, their confidant, their motivator, their challenger, and all coupled with hard-working, patience, respect, and love. The most valuable resource she offers her students is perseverance, to keep moving forward.
