One of her greatest joys as a dance teacher is watching students learn, explore, and discover their unique artistic voices. The culmination of this growth is reflected in the Spring Dance Concert, where most of the choreography is created by students themselves. With more than 250 dancers participating each year, the concert showcases a nurturing environment where student artists learn to lead, collaborate, and perform with confidence. Seeing students' smiles after their performances and witnessing the pride they take in producing meaningful work are among the most rewarding aspects of her role.
Mrs. Hofstetter values every step of the choreography journey her students undertake. She guides them from their first improvisation exercises, through the process of choosing themes, teaching movement to their peers, developing structure, and ultimately bringing their final work to life on stage. She supports them through the challenges and triumphs, helping each choreographer gain confidence and take pride in their artistic voice. Knowing that every student learns differently, she encourages dancers to discover their own movement style and express their individuality in their compositions.
Dance composition is a unit that truly defines Mrs. Hofstetter as a teacher. It's structured, but it leaves plenty of room for personal identity and creative purpose. She facilitates rich discussions about the impact of different choreographic styles on society, pushing students to think critically as artists. Students begin with improvisation—an immediate form of engaged learning—and explore ways to express emotion through movement. With her guidance, they approach the creative process with curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to take risks. She teaches dancers to plan thoughtfully, structure their ideas, and apply choreographic concepts to strengthen their technique and artistic understanding. Mrs. Hofstetter is more than just an educator, she is someone who pours genuine love into every student she encounters. As a former student, I look back at my time at Ayala High School with deep gratitude for her mentorship, guidance, and constant support. I have known Mrs. Hofstetter for 10 years when I worked at Ayala for 4 years. Now I have been lucky enough to have her as my daughters dance teacher for the last four years!! She is an amazing teacher.. The kids love her. She is kind, caring and just an all around great person. Christina has been a life changer ever since she walked onto the Ruben S. Ayala campus. Her calm mannerism and elevated ways of teaching bring excitement to all levels of her dance programs. The students are so fortunate to have her as a leader. Many of her students graduate a become dance instructors of their own programs. Christina has a true love for what she does.
Congratulations, Mrs. Hoffstetter, this is a well-deserved honor. Being my first year on campus, and in the same VAPA department, she helped me feel welcomed and supported from before my first day on campus. Meeting with me over the summer to help me acclimate to Ayala, going for lunch with the VAPA team to support the new theatre teacher, and even giving me an impromptu tour when I came to check out the campus. She really does light up a room with her energy and spirit. You can see her impact on both the staff and students from the way they act with her, and the way they speak about her when she's not around. When her name comes up, people smile and students beam. She is truly a treasure to have on this campus.
Christina makes a difference in the lives of EVERYONE at Ayala High School! As a former student of this high school herself, she has a unique commitment to making sure that students, faculty, and staff feel like our campus is a place that is welcoming, supportive, and fun. I've watched her create and transform our school's dance program and am in awe of the level of talent she curates in all of their performances at rallies and recitals. This comes from her heart and soul she pours into her students and the fact that they BUY IN to what has been created here. Mrs. Hofstetter is an incredible Dance teacher who is loved by all of her students! I was lucky enough to be in her class for 3 years, and I was able to grow as a dancer and as a person because of her. I still think back on all of the positive memories I have from her class and from the Dance Concerts throughout the years. I first met Mrs. Hofstetter in 2013 at just twelve years old when my older sister danced with ADP. From the very beginning, it was evident her love not only for dance but for her students and her commitment to us all. Being a part of ADP for all four years of high school was truly a blessing. She instilled leadership and discipline, allowing myself to grow creatively in my dance career. She not only impacted my world of dance but also my journey to the person I am today. She cares with her heart for each individual, being a listening ear when they need one. High school can be a trialing time for many, but knowing you have a trusting mentor, always available for advice, a smile, and a safe space to rely on. Christina has been a dedicated supporter and advocate for our nonprofit, Digital4Good, which educates and empowers students to use digital platforms for good. At a time when hate and negativity are so prevalent online, Digital4Good equips students to become Digital First Responders; teaching them how to take down fake and hate pages, leave toxic group chats, and build healthier, more balanced relationships with their devices.
Christina doesn’t just support this mission; she actively champions it within her community. She has even spoken at the California Association of Directors of Activities (CADA) State Conference, inspiring educators across the state to create more positive online campus cultures and reduce online drama among students.

Personally and truthfully, Mrs Hofstetter is my favorite teacher since I've come to Ayala a few months ago. I always have awesome things to say about her for many reasons. Shes super kind and sweet when you approach her; shes never been a teacher that I was scared of. She encourages her dancer students to try their best at all times and works hard to teach us everything we need to know if we want to become successful dancers. She happily corrects you when you make a mistake and aims you towards improving your skills and technique. Shes super supportive and gives us reassuring confidence when we might be anxious or scared to perform our latest routine, etc. Also, shes a really good teacher, we review every routine or new technique multiple times to make sure we preform accurately and confidently. Overall, shes my favorite teacher and she always brings a sense of care and comfort to her dance room and upon her dancers; I hope to take her classes again in the future and I believe she deserves this award.
Not only did I learn how to dance in her class, Mrs. Hofstetter helped me to make a bond with other people and be able to release my stress and anxiety to her class. Her classroom felt home especially the community. I was able to create more new friends with the same passion. I gained confidence in dancing. She is a type of teacher who would give you confidence whenever you're shy or afraid to make mistakes she would cheer and be positive. Even if you make a mistake she would help you to improve and be better.
Mrs. Hofstetter's class has been my safe place for two years now. She is the most deserving person of this award I know. Not only does she work industriously for this program she has built, but to truly understand and reach every single student she meets. She is always there to support and guide me about anything possible, and my school life would not be the same without such an inspiring and kind-hearted influence. Coming into high school, everything was so new, challenging, and scary. There is something so special about Mrs. Hofstetter and that is not only her exceptional dance background and expertise, but her ability to make everyone feel welcome. There are several times a week where we perform in front of our peers and in these sort-of-nervous situations not once have I ever felt judged by Mrs. Hofstetter. Quite frankly, I feel empowered and excited to go again if I mistepped. I truly believe Mrs. Hoff is so worthy of this award because she teaches with her expertise and leads with her heart. I had been schooling at home before coming to AHS, and public high school seemed very scary. Even so, Mrs. Hofstetter helped make my experience more enjoyable rather than stressful. I have been taking classes from her for two years now, and there has not been a single day where she did not prove she was kind, compassionate, hardworking, and understanding. She is always so sweet to every single student and flexible when it comes to people's needs. I have learned so much about choreography from Mrs. Hofstetter, improved my technique and ability to pick up dancing, and had fun throughout the whole process. Whenever I am stressed or sad, I look forward to dance because I know it is a safe space. I am so thankful to Mrs. Hofstetter for making my high school experience magical. My schedule would not be the same without dance, and I am forever grateful to Mrs. Hofstetter for igniting a passion for dancing within me. She works so hard on all of our routines and dance concerts just to ensure her students are happy and have a beneficial, stress-free experience, even if it means sacrificing her own time and effort. Mrs. Hofstetter consistently brings positive and uplifting energy whenever we are in her class by hyping up her students, leaving positive remarks on our techniques or constructively criticizing, and giving each individual student the ability, encouragement, and opportunity to improve as a dancer without making us feel pressured. Alongside that, she also makes it an important thing to ask about how our weekends/breaks were, how our days have been, and get to know each student through daily questions about our interests, likes, and preferences.

Whenever I come to her class she always puts a question up on the door as she wants to get to know us, I love it when she teaches us something new in dance. She is an amazing teacher to ever teach in dance. If I had an extra class I would choose her class because I love dancing more than anything. Ms. Hofstetter has always been there for all of us dance students. She's kind, caring, thoughtful, and extremely funny. Even in beginning dance, Ms. Hofstetter is giving us her all and makes sure we are all heard. I have multiple school extracurriculars, and Ms. Hofstetter accommodates me whenever I'm out of school and is always helping us get better in all subjects. She also volunteers for different school events such as the annual choir fundraiser! Ms. Hofstetter changed the lives of so many people and her kindness has touched the hearts of everyone.

I am in Mrs, Hofstetter's begining dance class, which I originally joined because I need PE credits, and I am not the most athletic person. Through the first semester, I started to look forward to her class, instead of looking at it as an obligation. She makes everyone welcome, and her morning questions and personal anecdotes make the class a happy place where we can learn fun choreography. I love the way she makes PE a class I look forward to, instead of something I dread.
I met Mrs. Hoff in second grade. I remember dancing for the first time for Ayala and she was such a joy to meet and learn from. I was nervous but she made sure to ease up the nerves and enjoy dancing.Fast forward to high school, she still is a great teacher, mentor and an overall person. Our entire family loves Mrs. Hofstetter. We met her in Fall of 2014 when our first daughter entered high school and auditioned for Ayala Dance Production (ADP) and make the group. I became active in volunteering to help with various events. The next year our second daughter joined ADP, followed by our third daughter three years later. All three girls had a wonderful experience and we were in the program for ten years straight. Mrs. Hofstetter always demonstrated patience, positivity, and grace when working with the students. Since I volunteered during the shows, I witnessed her actions during the dress rehearsals and behind the scenes. She always remained calm, collected, and encouraging even when things were not going as well as planned. Mrs. Hofstetter has been a wonderful mentor to our girls and someone that they can count on. One of our girls was having a very rough situation at school one day and I needed to come pick her up early. I rushed over to get her and found that Mrs. Hofstetter had noticed she was upset while walking across campus towards the office and waited with her until I got there. I was beyond grateful that she was there when my daughter needed someone. What more could a mother ask for! What a blessing she has been to our family! All four of our kids have graduated from Ayala and we still keep in touch. We try to help her when we can with her shows to give back a little of what she has given us. She poured into our family and for that we are eternally grateful. I highly recommend Mrs. Hofstetter for Lifechanger of the Year.

Mrs. Hofstetter has been the best teacher that I have every single year of highshool. She always gives her everything when she is teaching and you will never see her in a bad mood. She comes into class asking how you are asking questions about your weekend or questions about you and always has a smile on her face. Which will always make class fun and I always look forward to coming to class.
Mrs. Hofstetter has genuinely been one of the most impactful teacher in my life and she has done so much for me and the class. As someone who has joined dance for the first time ever as a freshman, she has changed my life. I learned so much from her from technique to culture and even history of dance. She is just a beyond amazing teacher that I can't even express into words how grateful I am that she is here. She is so supportive towards everyone and always taking on the day with the biggest smile on her face. Her contributions to dance and the groups within dance such as costume crew, good vibes committee, and the dance captains, is so appreciated coming from someone who has been in costume crew for 2 years now. She has always been there for me and someone that I can just depend on when school life gets hard and I get stressed out. Her class is just so nice and she is an amazing teacher. Not only is Mrs. Hofstetter an amazing teacher who goes out of her way to help us grow as dancers and students, she is also an incredible person at heart. It is the best decision i could have ever made. The way she makes ever kid feel seen is something truly special. She is one of my favorite teachers of all time. Mrs Hofstetter changed my life for the better in so many ways. Before joining her program, I was in a very hard and challenging part of my life. My mental health was at rock bottom, I believed I brought nothing to the programs I was involved in, and I generally felt as if I had no purpose because previous coaches had conditioned me to believe I was worthless. Mrs Hofstetter helped me realize that I did have a place and a family in the school though. She brought my self esteem up and encouraged me to keep going. She has created a program where everyone is welcome and where no one is seen as a burden, a weak link, or worthless in their classes. If it were not for her or the dance program, I would not be here writing this comment. She has changed my life and inspired me to uplift others the way she did me.
Mrs. Hofstetter has impacted my life in such a great manner in my 3 year experience of high school at Ayala High School. As a freshman not knowing much about the dance program, I joined Beginning Dance for PE credit. The environment that I was shown in that stressful year made me realize how important the dance community would be in my life. As a member of the Good Vibes Committee in the dance program, my job is to ensure nobody feels left out and everyone has support. This is just one example of Hoff putting our mental and physical health at the top of her priority. Now, as a Junior in Advanced Dance, she has kept up with this environment, if not improving the environment each year. I am so grateful for everything this program and Hoff has taught me and as long as I am in dance, I know I have my support system.
Ms. Hofstetter has been a significant source of encouragement for me. When I was in 8th grade, I auditioned for Ayala's dance program for the first time. I was hesitatent and nervous, but Ms. Hof came up to me and guided me along the way, giving me a sense of safety.
