Music that Describes Mariah
Mariah Perez was nominated by the parent of a student, Marlene Galaviz.
Ms. Perez is not only an SDC teacher, but an advocate for all students, including those with special needs. Ms. Perez is very humble, kind, and consistent in her teaching, and she is very supportive of her students, school, and parents. Ms. Perez even coaches the girls' cheering team after her long days at school. She uses her own funds to provide for her classroom, including resources and sensory support items. She helps students any way she can. Ms. Perez is completely committed to all that she does.
"I have been impacted by her grace and dedication, and I see how she treats everyone she knows like family. Ms. Perez has personally given both of my children encouragement, building up their self-esteem and showing them that they can accomplish anything they set their minds to. I am impressed with her ability to create relationships with each family and really know each student so well. Ms. Perez continues to find new ways to evolve. I am forever grateful," said Galaviz.
Mariah truly goes the extra mile to support each student and it shows. Your kindness, committment and creativity help students feel safe, valued, and capable. Mariah is an incredible teacher!
In addition to being an educator, Mariah is a cheer coach at the high school. She is a hardworking, caring leader that sets the standard for excellence both on and off the mat. By leading with integrity, consistency, and compassion, she models the values of discipline, teamwork, and accountability every day. Mariah invests countless hours developing athletes not only into strong, skilled performers, but into confident, respectful young leaders. Her commitment to high expectations and genuine care for each athlete has built a positive, successful program where student athletes feel supported, motivated, and proud to represent their team and school. As an educator, her passion and commitment are evident daily. She continues to go above and beyond to support her students and cheer athletes.
Mariah is an amazing educator and cares deeply for all her students. She is also an incredible collaborator! I am a First Grade teacher who works closely with her to help students in their math skills. Ms. Perez spends extra time to make sure she is meeting the needs of our students. The results are awesome! Students really benefit from her expertise, kindness, and dedication!
Mariah consistently goes above and beyond in her work with teachers to ensure the needs of students with IEPs are met with care and intentionality. She thoughtfully develops and manages complex schedules, always keeping students’ best interests at the center of her work. Mariah approaches every day with a positive attitude and a true team-player mindset, making her an invaluable support to staff. Rio Vista’s motto, “Learning for All,” is brought to life through Mariah’s actions. She continually supports all students through a variety of academic and social-emotional strategies and remains flexible in meeting the diverse needs of the teachers and grade levels she supports. Her professional and compassionate communication with parents strengthens partnerships and builds trust, and a 2nd grade student said it best, “she cares about us like we are her own children”.
