"I’ve always had a deep love for science, and over the years, I've learned so much. But this year, my expectations have been exceeded in so many ways, and I have Mrs. Vance to thank for that. From the very first day of class, she has been a constant source of support, positive energy, and inspiration. She goes out of her way to ensure that no student is left behind or feels confused. Every day when I step into her class, I’m greeted with a warm smile and often a hug, which makes everyone feel welcome. Mrs. Vance’s compassion and care for her students is truly one of a kind. Whenever one of us struggles with a lesson or project, she takes the time to patiently walk us through it. She doesn’t just provide an answer—she tells us to keep trying, and provides a shoulder to lean on. I’ve never had a teacher who genuinely invests so much in her students’ well-being and success," said the student.
"In the few months I’ve had Mrs. Vance as a teacher, she has gone above and beyond by dedicating her own time and resources to create enriching learning experiences for us. For example, we’ve had the chance to dissect squid, chicken thighs, and owl pellets. Hands-on activities like that have made science feel explorative and interactive in ways textbooks never could. The squid dissection, in particular, was very intriguing. I was amazed by the different parts and textures, and I learned so much simply by observing and exploring. When we dissected the chicken thigh, Mrs. Vance was right there, guiding us every step of the way and teaching us how to carefully examine each part. These dissections weren’t just fun—they provided a deeper understanding of the biological concepts we were studying and the potential career choices. In addition to dissections, Mrs. Vance organizes interactive labs three times a week. These labs feel more like educational challenges—like fun, hands-on games that make us think outside of the box and work together. After each station, we fill out a simple worksheet to show that we understand the station and the main point. The labs are always well-organized, engaging, and complex. They've made learning science even more exciting, and they help me understand the material quickly. Mrs. Vance deserves this award because of her unwavering commitment to her students and her genuine compassion. She goes above and beyond to ensure that we not only understand the material but also feel motivated and excited to learn more. From creating personalized seating charts that reflect how well she knows each of us, to offering unique, once-in-a-lifetime dissection opportunities, Mrs. Vance is truly changing the way we experience science."
"In conclusion, Mrs. Vance has taught me what it means to be a truly caring teacher. Just a short conversation with her reveals how deeply she cares about each student’s success and well-being. If I had to describe her in three words, they would be intentional, exceptional, and supportive. Intentional, because everything she does is purposeful, carefully planned, and aligned with our goals. Exceptional, because she’s the kindest, most thoughtful teacher I’ve ever had.
