Mr. Zumaya Rodriguez understands his students and gets along well with them well at his school.
My daughter is in color guard at the high school and she loves Mr. Abel. She says that he stays and helps the girls clean up the stands after the football games and always says hello to her in the hallway. He is always smiling and kind to everyone. It's been a rough year at the high school, but Abel always goes out of his way to make the kids feel loved and appreciated. He takes joy in his work and pride in caring for our school and our children. He is so deserving of this award.
So often we forget about the people that work in the background, during the dirty work (literally).
Abel is a true example of what Colossians 3:23 means " And whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord and not to men". Being a custodian is not a easy job and he does it with a smile on his face. Abel is loved and cherished by our Braves Community and this would be an awesome way for us to show our appreciation for him.

Abel is the custodian at community high school. He is the most kind-hearted soft-spoken person you can ever meet. I have never once seen Abel without a smile on his face. No matter what Abel shows up for us and makes sure we know we are far more valued than our troubles. Abel is a prime example of smiling through it. If anyone deserves the best, it’s Abel. His kindness and warm-heartedness bring a safe and home-like feeling. There is no man more deserving then our custodian, Abel.
Abel is the most AMAZING custodian at Community ISD in Nevada, Texas. As a former school administrator, I have seen some wonderful workers in school districts. However, Abel stands WAY above anyone I have ever met. He LOVES his job! LOVES! He takes pride in his work, and he loves the kids with all his heart! It shows on his face 24/7. He knows most of the students in the high school by name and knows what is going on in their lives and ask them regularly how they are doing. It is a joy to sit in the stands at athletic events and watch Abel do his job and interact with the students and parents. I catch myself watching him instead of the sporting event. He is amazing and truly deserves this award!!!
A wonderful man and well deserved honor!
I've known Abel for almost three years now. I first seen and met him in middle school in eighth grade although he's the Highschool custodian. He's always there whether its after, before, or during school. I cannot remember one time Abel has failed to greet me and Im always encouraged to do the same when I see him. No matter how tedious the task is Abel is always ready to help. He may not be fluent in English but it goes to show that doesn't always matter and won't stop him from speaking to you!! I've even ran into Abel once at the store we seen each other, greeted each other, and I got a hug. Abel respects however you want to be greeted whether its just speaking, a hug, handshake, or fist bump! I can say Abel never fails to brighten up my day. I cannot fail to say that Abel always goes above and beyond! WE LOVE YOU ABEL!!
Mr. Abel Zumaya Rodriguez does far more than keep our school clean, he helps make it a place where students feel safe, respected, and cared for. He takes the time to talk with students, really listen to them, and learn who they are. Because of that, kids feel seen and valued, whether they’re having a great day or a hard one.
Mr. Rodriguez brings a positive spirit to the campus every single day. His kindness, patience, and strong work ethic set an example for both students and staff. He takes pride in his work and in his school, and that pride shows in the atmosphere he helps create.
Through his consistent professionalism, genuine compassion, and high moral standards, he helps build a nurturing environment where students can focus on learning and growing. His leadership doesn’t come from a title, it comes from the way he treats people and the impact he has on our school community.
Abel does everything with a smile and shows so much joy to the people around him! He is kind and thoughtful. If he sees a need or sees someone struggling with something, he literally runs to help. He is such a huge asset to CISD!!

Abel is one of the kindest humans I've ever met!! Every time I see him at CHS he'll always give me a handshake or a "How are you?" with a smile on his face. Just yesterday my friend and I needed a ride back to the school from the stadium, and Abel was quick to let us hop in his golf cart to drop us off no questions asked!
Abel is one of the hardest-working and most selfless people I know. He is the first one there and the last one to leave, always making sure everyone has everything they need. He knows these kids by name, and he’s always cheering them on at their games. He truly cares for these kids. You never see him without a smile on his face.
I got to work with Abel at sporting events while I served in the concession stands. He is so kind, helpful, and always wears a huge smile on his face.
Abel is the first one at the events for our students and the last one to leave. He is always smiling and asks the kids how they are doing and what’s new. He cheers for them all.
He always does his job with a smile on his face, he greets everyone, and he talks to everyone despite the language barriers.
Abel is a true leader! The impact he has made will remain within the community and he has marked a legacy.

Mr. Abel is an amazing person. He truly loves the students and staff of Community ISD and takes pride in making relationships throughout the community. My granddaughter looks forward to seeing him everyday and runs to him to tell him about her day. He has even brought her treats back when he goes to visit his family in Mexico. The students love to see him in the halls and he loves to see them as well. He has truly made a difference in the lives of so many within our district.
Abel is there early and stays late. He goes to band concerts, musicals, football games, volleyball, banquets, movie nights, anything. If a student invites him- he’s there to support these kids. He may not be in the classroom but there are kids who come to school to see Abel. He sees kids in a way no one else does and CHS and CISD are lucky to have him.
Abel is such an amazing person. The minute I met him he introduced himself with a big smile and anytime he sees me he is smiling. He is very genuine and will take the time to talk to you. Thank you Abel for all you do!

Abel is one of kindest human beings that we have met. He makes sure to show so much positivity to all the kids in our district. Always interacts with both my daughters and always tells them how proud he is of them when he sees their performances. He always take the extra mile to show kids how great the are!

Abel is an amazing part of Community ISD. I have had the pleasure of watching his dedication in action. One of my custodians had a family emergency and we were trying to help the other custodian who was working extra to cover. Abel came in and just started to help. He covered lunch duty and made sure all the students had a clean area to eat and also talked to them and built relationships. Our students loved seeing him. At all the sporting events he takes pride in keeping the areas clean and cheers for the students. He knows the students and they all know him. He is always smiling and cares about everyone he comes in contact with. He is selfless and works so hard to care for others.
He is always with a smile and so welcoming. He’s been one to always help when needed and motivated the girls during games. Never a day without a smile on his face.
I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award. Able shows up every single day with the biggest smile and the kindest heart. He goes far beyond his job, he’s always there with encouragement, a listening ear, and a hug for anyone who needs one. He makes our school feel safe, loved, and truly like home. We are so lucky to have him, and this award would be so well deserved.

I have known Mr. Zumaya for some time now. He used to take care of our gym when I worked at one of the middle schools. He always came early and stayed late to take care of all of our needs at the school. He is an amazing person and always had nice things to say. I wish the world had more of Mr. Zumaya as it would make the world a better place to be. He always had a smile on his face and never missed a beat.
