Ector Rodriguez was nominated anonymously.
Mr. Rodriguez leads with heart, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to students and staff. He has truly become the heart of the district, creating a culture where everyone feels valued, supported, and inspired to do their best work. With more than 30 years of service in education, Mr. Rodriguez has dedicated his life to helping students of all abilities succeed. From his early days as a paraprofessional and bus driver with Pinal Special Education to his current role as Superintendent, he has remained grounded and student-centered in everything he does.
His journey is a reflection of perseverance, humility, and an enduring belief in the power of education to change lives. As a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Rodriguez brings integrity, discipline, and a strong sense of service to his leadership. He believes leadership is about connection and community, not position or title. Each day, he takes the time to personally check in with staff, greet students, and ensure everyone feels seen and heard. He organizes potlucks, encourages teamwork, and celebrates the unique strengths each person brings to his district.
During his time as Principal of Villa Oasis High School and as Special Education Director, Mr. Rodriguez made a lasting impact by combining compassion with accountability. Now, as Superintendent, he continues to set a tone of kindness, professionalism, and excellence that radiates throughout the district. Mr. Rodriguez's vision for the Mary C. O'Brien Accommodation District is clear: education should empower, uplift, and connect. He reminds staff that work is not only about academics, but about shaping tomorrow through relationships and community. His lifelong dedication to education, genuine care for people, and extraordinary ability to make everyone around him feel valued and capable make him a LifeChanger.
"It's hard to find the right words to express the impact Ector Rodriquez has had on my life and the lives of so many others. He fostered an environment where every student felt seen, heard, and supported. His unwavering encouragement and belief in me helped me navigate challenges and achieve my goals. I'll always remember his willingness to go above and beyond, whether it was staying late to help with a project or offering a kind word when I needed it most. Seeing him now as Superintendent feels like the perfect next step for someone who has dedicated their life to education and making a real difference in our community. He will continue to inspire us all."
Safety, presence and care changes lives and Mr. Rodriguez is that steady presence, that voice and smile of encouragement and support that remind our students they all matter. Always leads with kindness and knowing that his impact goes beyond academics. His relationship with our students have truly shaped many lives, many futures.

His actions always show he is grounded in strong family values and guided by kindness, hard work, unity, and a deep sense of humanity and this is why he genuinely is deserving of this Life Changer award.
A selfless humanitarian dedicated to improving the lives of future members of society.
Mr.Rodriquez genuinely cares about the well being of his staff and students. He always has a smile on his face on campus and will always take the time to say hello.
Actor is one of the most kind, generous & caring people I've ever known. I worked with him from 1999 to 2003 at Mary C Obrien...
Mr. Rodriguez showed me that no matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, you can still become something greater and do more with your life. He pushed me to see potential in myself that I didn’t even notice, and I’ll always be grateful for that. He encouraged me to take the next step and guided me toward joining the Navy, believing I had what it took even before I did. He’s a true hero the kind of person who lifts you up and sets you on the right path. His guidance and belief in me have truly made a difference. And while he may not be the best basketball player, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this nomination than Mr. Rodriguez.
I have had the privilege of working alongside Mr. Rodriguez for the past 10 years and what a journey it has been. When I started at the Villa it was his first year as principal having moved up from the classroom. It was also my first year working in the school system. He gave me the opportunity to grow, to learn, and to be part of a culture that believes in the students of this community. He has fostered an environment where anything and everything is possible with hard work and determination. Mr. Rodriguez has instilled and inspired a level of trust and respect from the students that walk through our doors that is unwavering and continues even in his new role as superintendent. I am fortunate to have been guided and supported by a true example of what it means to be a life changer and have witnessed first hand what his commitment and dedication has produced in students past and present. No one is more deserving of this honor than Mr. Rodriguez.
I have had the honor to work with Mr. Rodriguez for 11 years, first when he was a teacher, then a principal, and finally as the superintendent for our district. Though he had made a couple of career changes, he never forgot that we all were here for the students.
Being an alternative high school principal, he would have students with discipline and attendance issues. In fact, that is our primary student population. Consistently, he would give each student the opportunity to succeed. When students fail to succeed, he would give them another chance. And another. Until eventually they did earn their diplomas. Being a small school, all graduates can give speeches during their graduation ceremonies. We have students start tearing up while speaking as many did not feel they would get to that stage. It’s always an emotional moment, and without fail, Mr. Rodriguez’s name is mentioned in thanks.
Mr. Rodriguez’s support is not only for the students. He has always maintained an open-door policy (even as the superintendent). If anyone, students or staff, needed to talk or had any issues, he has an open ear. This policy allows for open discussion when issues arise, and staff can express opinions without feeling intimidated. Mr. Rodriguez doesn’t build walls that separate administration from teachers or school from school. In less than a year, I even see the schools in the district working closer together. We have high school students that read to the elementary students and one can easily tell both groups are getting so much from it. If staff had suggestions, he maintained an open mind. Fostering those connections are so important and Mr. Rodriguez encourages those connections by example.
Mr. Rodriguez started as a bus driver and moved his way to the superintendent position. He encourages his staff to do the same. The ISS teacher became the math teacher and is now the principal. We have paraprofessionals who decided to become teachers. And that is the great thing about Mr. Rodriguez. He encourages everyone, his students and his staff, to continue to grow.
Mr. Rodriguez exemplifies what true leadership looks like, rooted in service, humanidad, and an unwavering belief in people. His presence elevates every campus he steps onto, reminding staff and students that they matter and that their work has purpose.
Mr. Rodriguez is an unbelievable individual who totally respects education and students. Working with Mr.Rodriguez and seeing his caring spirit, always a confident smile encouraging everyone to be the best they can be!
Ector what an amazing achievement. I’ve watched your journey from the beginning: a Marine, a combat veteran serving your country, a bus mechanic at Mary C. O’Brien, then a bus driver, assistant teacher, teacher, principal, and superintendent. What a journey. You’ve earned every step through perseverance, hard work, and a commitment to helping others.
What you’ve done for students speaks volumes of who you are. Words of encouragement are fine but actions speak louder than words. The yearly Washington, D.C. trips you helped organize and personally supported with your time, your own money, and your understanding of what it’s like to grow up with limited resources have changed lives. You’ve given opportunities to young men and women who might never have seen our nation’s capital without you.
I’m proud of you, your family is proud of you, and your students are better because of your guidance, leadership and commitment Congratulations. Love you, bro.
Congratulations i wish your were still the principal for this school.

I've had the honor to work for Mr. Rodriguez and his example of leadership is infectious on the Students and Staff alike!!!
His direct involvement in integrating the community businesses and first responders (Police and Fire departments) add to the success and improvement of Mary C. O'Brien school district.
As Principal of Villa Oasis High School, he would organize, sponsor and take a group of Students to Washington D. C. each year!! The impact on these students' , who by all accounts may never have had the opportunity to travel outside of their community, is evident in their academic achievements and positive interactions with their classmates.
Without question Mr. Rodriguez is worthy of this Life Changer of the Year Nomination!!! #LCOY
