Music that Describes Bryan

Bryan Williams was nominated by his spouse, Rachel Williams.

Coach Williams has been at Gautier Middle School for around 20 years. He started as a substitute and was then employed, where he has taught physical education and history. He has inspired students over the years to stay active by enjoying the outdoors and incorporating fun into daily workouts. He has taught healthy eating and lifelong habits, and he continues to introduce them to his students, modeling them through discussions and hands-on lessons.

"Teamwork makes the dream work" is an overused phrase, but Coach Williams has developed teamwork tactics and constantly reminds his student athletes of what it takes to be part of a successful team. His philosophy is not about winning every competition. His philosophy in teaching a successful physical education class is to prepare his students to become healthy, well-rounded adults once they leave the Gautier Middle School campus. He models self-discipline and resilience on and off the field by instructing students one-on-one in the classroom, on the golf course, and beside the track-and-field areas around campus and in the community, all with a calm, cool, and collective attitude.

He is also the Elective Team Leader for the school and a Teacher Team Leader with admin. He stays in touch with his former students and celebrates their success when they come to visit and reconnect through their lives. Many students love talking about sports and life events when they pop back to see their Coach, who helped mold them into the young adults they have become.

"He cares deeply about the success of all students who walk through our doors and contributes to their needs when they have an issue," said Mrs. Williams.

I have known Bryan for many years. He is a great role model for the young men in our school. He takes the time to get to know them. He doesn't just say it, he does it. So many of our youth are filled with empty words, but Bryan fills them with encouraging words and builds them up. He helps them reach their God-given potential in his classroom and in whatever sport he is coaching. When one of his students is down or going through a hard time, he makes it a point to ensure they are okay and if they need anything. He truly leads by example. It's an honor to work with him and a blessing!!

Coach Williams has been such a positive influence for Gautier Middle School for so many years! His calm demeanor allows him to reach students on a personal level and creates relationships that last well beyond a student's time at GMS. This nomination is well deserved, and I'm thankful for all he does to make GMS a better place!
