Music that Describes Chris

Chris Townley was nominated anonymously.

Coach Townley can be described in three words: encouraging, supportive, and an advocate.  One of the things that makes Coach Townley a LifeChanger is his dedication to his students. Every day, he encourages the students he works with to be their absolute best. He motivates them to try their hardest to interact with sports and various activities. He is supportive of students in their endeavors, and he modifies his lessons to meet the unique learning needs of every student on campus. He is also supportive of other teachers, helping them where he can and participating in school-wide endeavors that help to develop staff and student wellness and professional development. He is also a fierce advocate, looking for ways to improve the lives and opportunities for his students.

Coach Townley has been coaching Special Olympics at the school for years, dedicating his time to ensuring his students can participate in these special activities. He also volunteers with adults in the community, helping them engage in leisure and fun activities. He donates his time to help them interact with the community around them.

"Over the last twenty-plus years he has been in education, I have seen him be so much to his students and other adults, helping them learn and develop into active members of their communities. He remains in contact with former parents and students and is always available if they need support or resources," said the nominator. "Chris makes a difference in the lives of the students he teaches every day."

I have had the privilege and honor of knowing Crist for over 20 years and working with him for 15 years in the Special Education class at Olsen Middle School. In all my 22 years of working in these classes, I can say that Crist is one of the most dedicated, committed, understanding, tolerant, patient, and innovative teachers. He is always willing to help and provide the necessary accommodations, and he constantly strives to ensure that his students have every opportunity to excel in all areas and participate in all available activities, such as the Special Olympics, theater, film, competitions, etc. Personally, he has supported and helped me at every moment, not only in my work. He always treats and respects everyone equally without any kind of discrimination based on race, language, religion, or background, and he has been a loyal and unconditional friend since I met him. Crist truly deserves this recognition and many more. Congratulations!! You deserve it!!
