Nicolette D'Alessio was nominated by a colleague, Christina Illuzzi.
Ms. D'Alessio has gone above and beyond her role since the moment she stepped into the McCown school community. Not only does she inspire students every day in the gym, but she has also dedicated countless hours after school to coaching and mentoring young women in athletics. Since she began teaching at Gaynor McCown, she has served as the assistant coach for the girls' basketball and flag football teams, pouring her energy into building confidence, teamwork, and leadership in her players. Now, she has taken on the role of coaching the girls' volleyball team, continuing her mission to create opportunities for female athletes to thrive.
Ms. D'Alessio's impact extends far beyond teaching physical skills—she instills resilience, sportsmanship, and self-belief in her students. Through her guidance, girls who may never have seen themselves as athletes are discovering their potential and their voice, both on and off the court or field. She is not just teaching sports; she is shaping futures.
"Ms. D'Alessio's unwavering commitment, positive influence, and passion for empowering students make her a true role model. She embodies what it means to be a LifeChanger, and her students will carry her lessons with them for years to come," said Illuzzi.
