Music that Describes Regina

Regina Sailer was nominated anonymously.

Three words to describe Mrs. Sailer? Engage, encourage, and expect. Mrs. Sailer dedicated her life to serving others often overlooked by society, spending decades at the Denton State Supported Living Center in various roles. Each role was designed to help residents who needed it most. Learn more about the center here.

Upon retirement, she began working with special needs students at Billy Ryan High School, the home of Champions, and has served there for many years. She helped students in Academic Vocational Life Skills (AVLS) by teaching academics and basic life and job skills. She helped them determine whether to pursue educational or career options after high school. Students enhanced their strengths by learning to search for jobs, apply for them, and practice interviews.

She is currently active in the Content Mastery Class (CMC), which provides a quiet, distraction-free environment for completing assignments. Occasionally, teachers bring students into this classroom and work with them; other times, students come on their own. Mrs. Sailer can help students when they need it. Each morning, when students arrive, whether by car or on the bus, she greets each one by name with "Good Morning" as soon as they step onto the sidewalk. They can hear her from across the yard and know she is welcoming them to Ryan High School.

Throughout the day, she encourages them to do quality work, complete assignments, treat peers and teachers with respect, and continue the legacy of being a Champion. She expects all students to give their best and congratulates them when they complete their assignments. At the end of the day, she will be found either escorting her students to the appropriate bus lane or parental pick-up area and ensuring they are safely transported home.

For staff, Mrs. Sailer has decorated treat bags for major events, including holidays and significant events throughout the year, as well as the first and last days of school. In previous years, she organized birthday parties for staff in her department every month, purchasing everything herself. Sometimes they were in the morning, and other times they were after school. Regardless, she enjoys recognizing coworkers.

"Outside school, Mrs. Sailer's focus is on family and the Church. Casual conversations with her let us know she values relationships with both. Countless residents at the Denton State Supported Living Center, as well as Ryan Raider Staff and Students, have been engaged and encouraged to strive for high expectations by her. Regina Sailer has been a LifeChanger for decades," said the nominator.

Ms. Sailer is an invaluable member of the Ryan High School family. When she worked in the AVLS dept. she held that team together with her proactive approach to things, her organization skills and her enthusiasm for the students. Now she is in the CMC dept. and she does the same there and even helps with one of the other classrooms every day. The kids just light up when they see her. The staff in that classroom value her, her input and her guidance. They go to her when they need help and she is always there to assist them. Ms. Sailer is smart and kind and collaborative. I feel so honored to have the opportunity to work alongside her. I admire her and respect her and love working with her.

Mrs. Sailer truly embodies what it means to be a LifeChanger. Her compassion, consistency, and unwavering dedication have touched countless lives —students, staff, and community members alike. She shows up every day with purpose, greeting each student by name, meeting them exactly where they are, and pushing them toward who they can become. Her quiet acts of kindness, from decorating treat bags to celebrating others simply because it brings her joy, remind us all of the power of genuine care. Mrs. Sailer doesn’t just support students; she elevates them. She engages, encourages, and sets expectations that help them rise. Her legacy is woven into the halls of Ryan High School and into the hearts of everyone lucky enough to work beside her. We are grateful for her presence, her service, and her example. Congratulations on this much-deserved nomination, Mrs. Sailer—you truly are a LifeChanger.

I have had the pleasure of being Mrs. Sailer's (Gina) neighbor for 30+ years. She is one of the most giving, kind, strong, and selfless people I have ever known. Mrs. Sailer is an incredible teacher but also a huge presence in our community. Gina is family to us and has been a godsend on many occasions. When my father had a stroke in 2014 I was his sole caregiver and Mrs. Sailer was a huge support system who came to my aid more times than I can count. It never mattered how busy she was because she always found time to help our family in multiple crisis and I will forever be grateful to her. Yes, Mrs. Sailer is an incredible teacher who guides her students with love and compassion but she is also a pillar of the community and someone I consider family. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award because Gina is the epitome of a life changer in my eyes.

Firm, fair, and consistent describe Mrs. Sailer. She knows her students well, and envisions their capabilities. She provides the guidance they need to excel, and remains patient when they waiver. When needed, she can be firm, keeping students on track towards their goal, while making sure they are always treated fairly. No matter the situation, Mrs. Sailer is consistent--she will not waiver in her support to students and support of the staff. Who knows how many lives she has influenced over the decades?

Mrs. Sailer is a great teacher of the young and old. I worked at Ryan High School with her for 3 years and I learned from her as much as the students she was working with. She is always the calm in the storm. She advocates for the students and they know that they can always count on her. She is also not afraid to let them know when they need to act better and follow directions. She is a very caring person and I am proud to be her friend. She is truly a life changer.

Mrs. Sailer is one of the most giving people I know. I was privileged to have worked with her in my classroom at Ryan High School. I could always count on her to be there for the students and she was always supportive to staff whenever possible. She is a role model for students and they know they can always go to her when they are in need of help. I consider her an amazing friend. I cannot say how amazing she is and how well deserving she is as a Life Changer. She is a joy to work with, always there to lend a hand and an ear if you have any questions. She is always there for students to help them if needed and support them or give them encouragement if are having trouble. She is a friend that I can count on even though we no longer work at the same school. She is a true life changer!!!!!

My mother has been and always will be two things for sure, beautiful both inside and out. She always teaches and taught us to give more than is expected and be totally proud of our efforts and accomplishments. She is always proud of her family, friends, and colleagues. Growing up as her child she taught us to not hate but try to learn something new every single day, and she still does. When someone needs her help or something else not foreseen comes to her plate she goes at it full force with energy efforts and abilities above and beyond 110 %. My mom is my mother, my teacher, and my best friend. Everyday I continue to learn about everything from her, even as an adult child . So to sum it all up Giving Incredible Needs of others first Amazing
