Ms. Smith is dedicated, loving, and determined. She teaches physical education/health and sports medicine. She is also the school's first responder, Student Council advisor, a new teacher mentor, electives department lead, and district leader. Every day, she creates a nurturing and respectful environment for all students and staff by using the Capturing Kids Hearts "Social Contract." She holds everyone to the same standards of respect. She provides students with positive and meaningful feedback for their work and any other assistance they may need on a particular day.

"Ms. Smith always helped me improve my lessons and gave me encouraging words daily," said the nominator. "She loves her students and wants all of them to be successful in the classroom and in society. Her guidance is a memory that students will never forget.
