Ms. Vasquez is a teacher I’ll never forget. I had the pleasure to be her student for two years and in that time I enjoyed every moment of it. I was able to see her in action as both a teacher and magnet coordinator. While being her student during AP Chemistry she was a really good teacher who helped me understand the material and believed in me throughout the challenging course. She had such good energy that I looked forward to going to class everyday. In my senior year I had the pleasure to be her service worker and I got to see all the stuff who does on top of being a teacher. She would always go out of her way to make tokens of appreciation to all the school staff and organize activities for the magnet school. She always took care of so many things yet she was still there for her students. I never understood how she was able to take care of all the responsibilities but it was inspiring to see. Ms. Vasquez truly deserves the recognition for all her hard work and I will remember her for years to come.

During my time as a BGW, I often worked in the same building as her classroom. Without fail, every time we crossed paths, she would ask about my well-being and genuinely listen. She frequently offered me something to drink and created a space where I felt comfortable opening up—whether it was about work challenges or personal matters. Her kindness, empathy, and consistently positive attitude weren’t just extended to me, but to others on my team. She went above and beyond her role, uplifting the students and those around her and making our work environment feel more human and supportive. I wholeheartedly believe she deserves this nomination for the incredible impact she’s had on others.

Where do I even start? Wendy Vasquez is honestly one of the most humble and kind-hearted people I know. With everything on her plate, you’d expect her to always be too busy—but somehow, she always makes time to help others. She is always there to answer a quick question or stepping in to help make things happen for our students. It is her heart that guides everything she does. There’s no one who deserves the Life Changer Award more.

There are a million and one reasons that Ms. Vasquez is the BEST candidate for this category, but I will only use ONE word: selfless. Ms. Vasquez has done at least ONE great thing to help others at our school, all without seeking any benefits or accolades. The reason she wears so many hats is because she loves our school, our students, and community so much that she sees a need and will do what she can to make sure it is met. As soon as she knows that it will help someone she is fully on board with working or doing the training, or staying the extra hours, or taking the extra mile. I have worked with her in the science department for over 9 years and can truly say that she works hard, and with a Smile on her face. I love that she has such a positive outlook on things and is always willing to support for the best of our school and students. I also love how creative she is with all the work that she does. Her creativity stood out more during the Covid years where every teacher was "borrowing" her lessons/handouts to use. Therefore, she is not only caring, and dedicated, she is kind, positive, motivated and motivational. She has been there for so many of us and I am more than happy to now be there for her!!! I know that there is no one out there like her and we truly are very lucky to have her in our school!!!

Ms. Vasquez is an amazing teacher, colleague and leader. She is always willing to help, which as a new teacher, is invaluable. Her dedication is obvious in the amount of time and work she puts into everything she does. Whether that is teaching, coordinating for our school Magnet, or our SAS/GATE program. She is the kind of teacher that helps make SEHS such a special place to work and teach at.

I could go on for a long time about why Ms. Vasquez is a great teacher, colleague and person. And she deserves this honor and more because of it. I want to share my personal experience with her as a fellow teacher. I remember being here for my first year at the school and she was one of the first ones that I met. In fact, I leaned on her a lot that first year because she was so willing to guide me and teacher me how to get my classes set up. Schoology was still new to me and she taught me everything I need to know to make it work for me and my classroom. She has always kept me informed on major updates and I have always felt like I belonged because she made the transition so easy for me. She has always done things with a great attitude. And on top of that, she always checks in on me on a personal level. She is genuine and one of the best people I know. This is why I want her to win this. She deserves it. She is the glue that helps us keep it going when things are challenging. I hope she wins this.

Ms. Vasquez is an incredible teacher and colleague. It is a joy to work with her and see her on campus every day. She has dedicated herself to promoting a positive community culture at South East High School for many years. Her regular updates on our Schoology page with interactive themed calendars and reminders keep our school organized. She works above and beyond in several leadership roles: Magnet Coordinator, GATE/SAS Coordinator, Science Department Chair, Medical Club Advisor, AP Chemistry and Honors Forensic Science Teacher. Her roles demonstrate that she has dedicated her time to providing our students with several opportunities to advance their studies. In these sessions she has shared her best practices and patiently walked us through each of her steps. As a new teacher, the skills she has taught me have improved my instruction and organization. She is an indispensable resource and an inspiring leader who is dedicated to uplifting others. Ms. Vasquez truly deserves to win LifeChanger of the Year.

Ms. Vasquez is a problem solver. Whenever I need help with something, I know I can go to her and she will go out of her way to make sure that she gets an answer for me or teach me how to do what I need. I have learned how to do so much technology wise from her. She has made my teaching life so much easier. I truly appreciate everything she does for myself and for the school. She is so deserving of this nomination and so much more.

Ms. Vasquez is absolutely amazing since she I had her in my class for Pre Calculus. I have known her for almost 20 years and she is bright, committed, hard working, dedicated, kind, open minded, supportive, a team player and above all she cares about her students and her community!!! She works relentlessly to make our school and our community the best and she does it with a smile that makes you want to be an active participant!!! I knew that Ms. Vasquez would be a success story when she was a junior student in my Pre-calculus class from the way she took notes to the way she performed and the way she cared about her peers. She went to graduate number 1 in her class and continues to shine bright in our school by supporting all of us in becoming better so our students can become better!!!
