Belinda Henderson was nominated by her principal, Dr. Lanor Payne.

"As principal, I have had the pleasure of working with Belinda. She is a driven, organized teacher who develops inspiring relationships with her students," said Dr. Payne.

Ms. Henderson has always been driven to develop her skills as a teacher. She began her career as a student teacher, eagerly taking up extra responsibilities such as advising the Thanksgiving Family Day committee and serving on the leadership committee. She continued to demonstrate this drive through her tenure at Michelle Obama Early Childhood Academic Center, even becoming the head of the leadership committee last year. Ms. Henderson embraces any opportunity for professional development, which makes her an ideal leader.

Ms. Henderson has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially children. Her ability to connect with her students and her talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior. She also has excellent written and verbal communication skills with both parents and teachers. She accomplishes all these tasks with great initiative and with a positive attitude.

Ms. Belinda is a great teacher who excels at preparing her students for kindergarten. Every student who enters her classroom leaves well rounded. She encourages the parents of her students to never settle for less than their best.

Ms. Belinda is a PHENOMENAL educator! She puts in so much TIME in making sure that her students succeed. All of her scholar's parents truly appreciate all the hard work she puts into helping their child succeed. I had the opportunity to sit in a few times and work alongside her and just those few times, I learned so much. She too is a great ascent to the Michelle Obama ECAC school family and we appreciate all that she does. #LCOY

I have had the pleasure of being the instructional assistant for Ms.Belinda for 3 1/2years during which time Ms.Belinda not only has been a great model for the children but for me as well. She is a very confident teacher and has all of her scholars best interests at heart.

I have had the pleasure of working with Ms. Belinda and I must say she is why I continue to strive to be the best teacher that I can be. She taught me to support the whole family as well as the child left in our care. Ms. Belinda sets goals and expectations for our children allowing them to discover learning on their own building their self worth and self-esteem. We need more teachers like Ms. Belinda she makes our future so bright.

Ms.Belinda is a educator that goes over and above to build not only relationships with her students but their families as well. It is honor to work with someone who not only gives her best to her students and families but her colleagues. She does not mind extend her learned experiences to us. She believes that all students can learn and she does what it takes to get them their. She brings education to life for her students and I have never seen parents excited about homework the way her parents are. Mrs. Belinda is an amazing teacher. She has high expectations for each and every one of her students. However, Mrs. Belinda meets her scholars where they are, and strategically implements instruction to build their skills and confidence. I am always visiting her room looking for ideas. "May I have Ms. Belinda as my child's teacher?" We hear this so often during registration. Ms. Belinda is serious and passionate about teaching and learning. She is firm in her teaching of curriculum and life lessons. She is an excellent Educator and many of us can learn from her teaching abilities. Ms. Belinda is an awesome teacher. My son had the opportunity to be in her class room. I like how she involves the parents in student learning. She is a teacher who meets children where they are developmentally and scaffolds learning appropriately. She is always pleasant and no parent could ever say she does not communicate effectively. After you have received so many verbals, then you will get a reminder email and possibly a note as well. She was always upfront and honest about my child learning and progress he was making or made. I like how she took information that I said my son was doing at home and built onto whatever skill it was that he was working on. Congrats Ms Belinda you totally deserve this recognition!

Belinda does an amazing job of teaching her scholars kindergarten readiness skills. She hold high expectations for all learners. She knows how to create growth in the 10 benchmark skills of math and ELA with her scholars.
