Music that Describes Monica

Monica Jones was nominated by a family member, Tishola Watts.

Principal Jones is a woman of deep conviction, guided by educational principles and a steadfast faith that informs every decision she makes and every life she touches. Her leadership has been a living testament to what can happen when courage, vision, and faith come together in service of something greater than oneself. Where others saw limits, Principal Jones saw possibilities.

In a community that had long gone underserved, she created opportunity after opportunity, opening doors for students, families, and even staff who had once felt forgotten. Under her leadership, programs were launched that addressed academic gaps, fostered emotional and spiritual growth, and empowered youth to dream beyond their circumstances. Her work is not simply administrative; it is missional. She leads with the heart of a servant, the wisdom of a mentor, and the strength of a trailblazer.

Through prayer, perseverance, and an unshakable belief in the potential of every child, she has lifted an entire community. Whether it was bringing in resources where there were none, advocating fiercely for students who had no voice, or mentoring young teachers with patience and love, Principal Jones has modeled what it means to be both a leader and a disciple. Her faith is not just spoken; it is lived out daily in her humility, integrity, and relentless pursuit of what is good and right.

What makes her impact so profound is that it goes beyond test scores or school rankings. It is seen in the confidence of a child who now knows their worth. In the parent who feels heard and included. In the teacher who feels supported and called to grow. And in the community that now sees its future not with fear, but with hope.

In every sense of the word, Principal Jones is a builder of people, of programs, and of purpose. And through it all, she gives glory where it is due, never seeking the spotlight for herself, but always shining it on others. She has changed lives, not only for today, but for generations to come.

I am overjoyed to be a part of the R.E.C program, an academic community that assists students in embracing their creativity and intelligence. This program has helped me find friendships that are worth more than I can put into words and also has shown me how valuable it can be to be surrounded by people who understand your personality. This program has made learning a way for me to express my knowledge and learn various beneficial skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, and responsibility. This safe and welcoming environment that the program establishes has helped me grow into the person I want to be and reach my full potential, while also having fun and learning lots! This program is an opportunity for everyone involved to excel and become who they want to be in life with no barriers to stop them from reaching their goals. It has also allowed me to do activities outside of school like afterschool sports, reading groups, art projects, and other fun things that keep scholars, including me, occupied out of school, which helps everyone feel included and also makes students feel supported as people, as well as their dreams. It also has in school activities like plays and music performances, giving us a way to be heard and seen by doing what we love. There are many other things the program has to offer, these are just somethings that make it so enjoyable. In all, this program has changed my life in so many ways, it has helped me open up and shine my true creativity while also teaching me many things that will help me now and later on in life, and for that reason I am beyond grateful to be a part of it all.
