My family and I would like to express our gratitude to Mrs. Hughes. She has been a wonderful influence on our daughter’s learning this year. Our daughter has faced some challenges in the classroom, but we’ve noticed an amazing change in her confidence, her attitude towards learning, and overall development since she started attending Darby this school year.
I met with Mrs Hughes this past winter right before break. It’s incredible how patient she is and how she encourages and believes in her students. She has truly made a difference in my daughter’s learning. It’s evident that she’s not just teaching academics, but also helping her students build their self-esteem and their love for learning. We’re grateful to have such a caring and dedicated teacher in our daughter’s life.

My mother Noemmy Hughes is the most dedicated person I know. She lives by a moral code to always help other people while she can. Every day when I get home from school I see my mother planning work to help her students and it is amazing to see how dedicated she is to her classroom. She is also a boyscout leader that teaches scouts how to give back to the community. Even when she is out giving back to the community she always finds away to be the best mother in the world.
Mrs Hughes is an amazing teacher, not just an amazing teacher. She is just an amazing person. She taught me during Boy Scouts all the way through kindergarten. She has been helping kids in the classroom by doing tutoring and more, which shows how amazing a person, teacher, and lastly an amazing mom.
Ms. Hughes was my first mentor teacher when I was in my teaching credential program. I couldn’t have been luckier to have her guiding me every step of the way. Seeing how she worked the classroom and gave individual attention to students needs was inspiring. She truly cares for her students success every single day. Her positive attitude is another reason students love her and having her as a mentor was more than any future teacher could hope for.
She is an amazing teacher. I am so blessed to have her as a coworker.

I have had the pleasure of being her best friend for 33 years. I got to be there the day she got her first classroom. She has always had this passion for helping children be successful. She not only wants them to have success in her classroom but as they move forward after they leave. She’s always thinking of fun ways to teach her lessons so that kids are engaged. She works hard everyday even outside of school hours and to her it doesn’t matter as long as her job is done right. Watching her grow into such an amazing teacher all these years has been inspiring.

I have had the honor of working with Mrs. Hughes for over a decade now. She is a true team player and is always ready to jump in and help out with different activities in clubs at Darby.
In 2013 she became my teacher sponsor for the Marathon Kids Program, but the most memorable experience of that was watching her complete the 26.2 miles of the marathon at all our meetings while expecting her son Julian. This is one of many stories I have of Mrs. Hughes, one of the brightest stars at Darby Elementary .
