His lessons are the highlight of my day—fun, inclusive, and always uplifting. He never looks down on a student; instead, he opens doors to new ways of thinking. I’ve known Yonathan for years, and I’ve seen firsthand how deeply he cares about his students. He pours so much time into planning his lessons, showing up for after school activities, and consistently going the extra mile to make sure his teachings have a real impact in their lives. I’m truly proud to call him my friend, and I admire the dedication he’s shown throughout his 12 years of teaching.

Mr. Tadesse is an amazing teacher and role model to me and my classmates. Mr. T is the best teacher I've had because he knows how to turn an uninterested student into an engaged one, and turn a boring lesson about interest rates and mortgage loans into fun games and laughable moments. He is also one of the most patient people I've met in my life, even when I feel like my questions are dumb or feel discouraged to speak up Mr. T recognizes my emotional state and answers my questions in the nicest way possible. If anyone should win any teaching award it should be Mr. Tadesse because not only is he a phenomenal teacher, he is an amazing person.

Zyon Sharp Posted 8 months ago

Mr. Tadesse is an excellent teacher. He helps build a community of people from different backgrounds who come together to share a common goal. He makes sure every student is included and seen. Every lesson is engaging and fun. He never makes students feel less than, but instead gives them new opportunities to learn. Unlike other classes, I enjoy walking into his and feel excited to learn each day. He’s the kind of teacher whose impact stays with you long after the school year ends.

marissa v Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is very kind and patient, and he makes sure all of his students feel comfortable both mentally and physically in his classroom. I appreciate that his grading policy is fair and lenient, and his teaching style is engaging and easy to follow. Mr. T is pretty much the only teacher I’ve had during my time at Townview who I truly feel comfortable asking for help on assignments and personal matters.

Mr. Tadesse has been a firm staple in my education since I met him. Starting with the way he presented himself to me as a teacher who cared about my future. Not only in the classroom did he care, but also outside of it. He taught me things like how to properly study for the SAT, what a good handshake was, and how to take care of my finances in both the near and distant future. If it were not for Mr. Tadesse, I would be at a loss for my future. He helped me weigh what was most important for me in college and in my goals to dictate the path I wished to follow. He is a noble man and a thoughtful teacher who has left his mark on the school and on many students' lives. He is loved by all to the point where my sophomore year students would tell me how much I had to look forward to with him as my future teacher, and teachers would tell me of his ability to aid. Mr. Tadesse is simply put, one of the most deserving people I have ever encountered, and he has motivated and educated me in ways beyond explanation.

Mr.T is a teacher I've had for two years for financial math, and college transition he has been nothing but a huge help in preparing us students for the future whether that'd be in helping us through the college application process or helping us be financially literate Mr.T has been nothing but beneficial to us students and his teachings will surely play a big role in our future.

Jonathan Escobedo Posted 8 months ago

Oh, where do I even begin, Mr. T is one of the most optimistic, positive, cheerful, supportive, uplifting, enthusiastic, humble, intelligent, smartest, kindest, and aspiring teachers in the world. I'm grateful of having a teacher like this as he's always their when we need help. He is also a great teacher and aware of what he is teaching as he can use examples that help us understand the concept. He makes sure we all understand the subject but also makes it fun and unique. Thank your Mr. T

Yaretzi G. Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is honestly one of the best teachers I have had. The way he teaches financial literacy is not just very easy to understand but it is actually exciting. He knows his material extremely well and knows how to teach it without making it boring. He makes class fun and makes you look forward to being in his class. He always has a smile on his face that makes me know he he genuinely cares about us and wants us to succeed. Throughout my time in his class he has not only taught me about money but also about thinking smart and building a better future for myself. He truly is a one of a kind teacher.

Nathan Posted 8 months ago

I’ve had the privilege of being a student of Mr. T for the past three years, and without a shadow of a doubt, he’s been the most caring, thoughtful, and understanding teacher I’ve ever had. He teaches Financial Math, where he equips us with real world skills that we will use for years to come, and he even created our College Transition class. Both of these reflect his dedication to helping every student succeed. Despite all these responsibilities, he still managed to lead multiple organizations on campus, most notably Link Crew and Legal Pad, which support not just the Law Magnet but the entire school community. Mr. T is truly the most well-rounded teacher I have ever met, and if anyone deserves to be recognized for their impact, it is him.

german Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is an amazing teacher he's helped us with financial literacy and on topics that will impact the outcome of how we will proceed with financial issues overall he's helped us in many ways as well as creating a good mood within his classroom

Alisa Posted 8 months ago

Genuinely one of the best teachers I've had. His class is extremely fun, interactive, and you don't dread going like you do most other classes. I actually learn something new everyday and leave with knowledge from one class that would take 3 weeks to conjure in any other class. He's very sweet and knows how to engage with students in ways that better help us understand material.

Francesca Soqui Posted 8 months ago

I had Mr.T as a teacher since my junior year for College Transition and this year for Financial Math. He is an amazing teacher who helps us learn lessons on real-life situations. He is one of the teachers that you go to when you have a genuine life-changing question. He always knows the best answers. He is different than any other teacher that I've had; he stands out in the most positive way possible. Helping me understand college applications and financial literacy. He is a teacher that everyone wishes they had.

Steven Posted 8 months ago

I've had Mr. T for 3 years now, and he is the best teacher I've had for all of high school. He makes his classes fun and easy to understand. He has made an immense impact on my learning journey and has taught me things that will help me after high school, too.

Gabriela Carrillo Posted 8 months ago

It takes a lot to be a memorable teacher, especially making a good long lasting impact on a student. Easily, I can say with courage and no doubt that Mr.T has left me with a strong impact and strong wisdom. You go to school, to learn but never really learn about the real-world, and what is after school itself. Mr.T's, financial literacy class has taught me more than i've ever learned throughout my years in highschool. This is, with no exaggeration. I've truly never felt more confident to deal with finance outside of school, apart from this his encouraging support and words make me know that I am capable of more. Senior year, of highschool can be the most mentally exhausting challenge to face, there are so many questions and so many answers. Yet, Mr.T always provides a supporting perspective and great advice that makes me believe that I can change my future for the best and that I don't exactly have to be what others limit me to be. He shows incredible care to all of his students, and shows his compassion and his true passion for teaching through it. It's hard to see a teacher who loves their job, but without a doubt I can tell that he is truly passionate about what he does. It shows that he does this, because he loves it. I cannot be more grateful to have a teacher, like him. He is an incredible inspiration to me, and I know for a fact that I will never forget the lessons he has taught me.

Brandon Jaramillo Posted 8 months ago

As a senior, I've had Mr. T since my sophomore year and I can truly say he has been the most patient, understanding, and genuinely caring teacher I have ever had the honor of being taught by. Mr. T manages to turn every lesson, no matter the topic, into a fun and entertaining class that I honestly look forward to. I couldn't think of a more deserving person to be nominated and I fully support the fact that Mr. T has earned it.

Alex Rodriguez Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T has been a great teacher and really makes his class fun. His financial math class is one of the only classes I know I will use outside of school and he makes it exciting to learn each day in class.

Saniyaa Hardeman Posted 8 months ago

I've had Mr. T as a teacher for only two years, but in those two years, he has been one of the most understanding and patient teachers I've ever had. And he is always in a great mood, which brightens the classroom. I literally have never seen him upset or mad a day in my life.

Marcos Jasso Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is actually the best ever I always look forward to his financial math class because I actually know I am going to learn something new and helpful to me and everyone around me. Each time I have his class I am sure to take notes, even though I may not get everything Mr. T knows how to be sure we as students grasp the topic we discuss. Every day I come home from school I am proud to go to my mom and tell her about the new things I learned in Mr. T's class. He is amazing.

Abigail Paredes Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is a very inspirational and encouraging teacher he always lets you know that he cares for his students futures more than anyone else. He always tries to keep in mind what students are going through as seniors and keep all the information taught in class simple so that we understand and put out in to practice for our future as adults. I truly appreciate the hard work that is put into class each day and the thoughtful recommendations that he gives us so that we don't make big mistakes as adults.

Issaias Luna Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is a amazing teacher. He has taught me a lot since the first time I took his class. His class helped me apply for my dream colleges and not have to be stressed my senior year. He helped me be prepared, and has also taught me so much on how to be able to manage my finances. He inspired me to want to become financially literate, be free of debt, and retire with my investments. He is a very amazing teacher. His classes will stick with me for the rest of my life, and I really appreciate the advice and help he has gave me and allowed me to not only think of the present but also my future.

AJ Sanchez Posted 8 months ago

High-key, Mr. T has been one of the best teachers I’ve ever had in high school. He actually cares about his students and makes class fun while still helping us learn. You can tell he loves what he does because he always puts in the effort to make sure everyone understands and feels included. He doesn’t just teach the material. As mentioned he helped get the Law Legal pad started and recently my school wanted to start a newsletter and he has lent a helping hand on getting us going and tip he has to offer. Not only that but everyday after financial math I am able to bring back things to tell my parents and offer support for them too. Even on tough days, he knows how to make us laugh or see the positive side of things. His energy and dedication make school feel less stressful and more inspiring. Honestly, he’s more than just a teacher. He’s someone who truly changes the way students see themselves and their potential. He absolutely deserves the Life Changer of the Year Award. #GOMR.T #BestTeacher #FinancialMathForTheWin #MyGoat

Mr.T is an amazing teacher, he goes above and beyond for each of his students. He is a very kind person and is always willing to learn more everyday for the benefit of his students. He has opened many doors for our school and each way has led students to connect more and enjoy our time here at the Law Magnet. Mr. T's teaching abilities have ranged from math, college prep, and financial literacy, all beneficial to the real world and overall growing as a person.

Clarissa Posted 8 months ago

Having Mr. Tadesse for my first time ever this year, has been the most fun and informational class that I've ever had. Not only does he fully support his students and include activities to keep us entertained while learning, but we learn SO much information about financial literacy that would help me and the next generations to come. Without Mr. T, many students wouldn't get the opportunity to become educated on managing their financial income as they get older and would leave us clueless. This was the first time I have ever felt so comfortable in class especially during the first week of school, I really appreciate Mr. T and everything he does for us as his students.

Jazmin Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T supports his students by offering extra help whenever they need it and creating a positive, encouraging classroom environment. He takes the time to explain difficult topics until everyone understands and provides resources to help students apply what they learn beyond the classroom. Mr. T constantly provides guidance and belief in his students to motivate them to do their best. We are very lucky and grateful to have a teacher like him.

Odalys Zuniga Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is the best teacher ever! I have learned so much in his Financial Mathematics class I now feel prepared to step into my new journey in adulthood with confidence and knowledge that I can invest and plan for my future. :)

Alyssa E Posted 8 months ago

I’ve had Mr. T since my junior year in my College Transition class, where I learned an incredible amount of things I never would have known otherwise especially as the first person in my family to go to college. His class opened my eyes to the many options I have for higher education and taught me how to find financial support as a low income student. I’m deeply thankful for everything I learned from him. Now, as a senior, I’m taking his Financial Math class, where I’m continuing to learn how to build generational wealth and make strong financial decisions for my future.

Alice Nguyen Do Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is an amazing teacher, who is very professional with his work/teaching as well as a very understanding teacher. Mr. T's lessons are fun and interesting about Financial Math literature, including the productive game about financial math for the students to play and get the big idea of how it works in the real world through personal experiences. I find this class to be really fun and enjoyable to learn as well as apply the activities to establish new perspectives and understandings.

Esmeralda Loredo Posted 8 months ago

Mr.T has inspired me to try new things. This year, I joined Link Crew, and so far, I enjoy working with my team. I also learned a lot more about how to manage my finances and open a bank account. I look forward to his class and the environment he has created.

Frida Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T has been an incredible help this year I met him. Every day he stands at the door with a positive attitude to help us learn. He has taught me about financial literacy, and has given suggestions about how to spend your money correctly. Having him has helped me so much, and he believes in us every day, I'm so grateful to have him.

Leslie Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T always has a positive attitude and shows his enthusiasm in the courses he teaches. His personality is nice, understanding, caring, and supportive. He deserves this award for I'm sure there's no better teacher than him he's devoted and passionate about his work. His teachings have been very helpful in class as well as outside of it.

Mariana Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T is truly the best. He believes in his students even when we don’t believe in ourselves. His classes taught me real skills for college and life, but more than that, he taught me what integrity and leadership truly mean. I’m so grateful for his guidance, his patience, and the way he pushes us to be our best every single day.

Mr.T is a very good teacher and really helped me understand financial literacy, I've learned how to build credit. He's a very supportive and enthusiastic teacher.

Melanie Posted 8 months ago

I am the most stubborn person Mr.T has probably ever met, and although some days I can be extremely difficult and even get distracted from the lesson, He always makes sure I get the lesson and don't stay behind. I've had the privilege of being his student for two years and although most of the time I don't seem to appreciate it , I do and am grateful for his patience and drive to see me succeed even on days I don't feel like I can.

Gabrielle Walker Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T has been an amazing teacher from the day I started taking his class. Not only have I used his teachings in how I handle my money and prep for scholarships for college, but also in how I go about handling things. He is a careful and consistent person when it comes to supporting and listening to his students. The lessons he gives not only offer knowledge but also wisdom that we all as students can carry with us. Taking his class has been a breather in a stressful senior year when it comes to the atmosphere and how he helps us learn. Mr. T deserves to win because he is an example of what students need when it comes to a teacher who is committed and consistent.

Miracle Coleman Posted 8 months ago

He's an amazing and caring man who takes pride in perfection and strives to help others when theres room to help. I've never seen Mr. Tadesse have a lazy teacher moment (as that's pretty common nowadays), and he's always willing to give great, inspirational advice. He started college transition at my school, and that helped me score way higher on the math SAT. I really appreciate that.

Christian Gonzalez Posted 8 months ago

I have known Mr.T since my sophomore year and i would have to say that hands down he has been one of my favorite teachers that I have ever had. He is very genuine and just a very kind person all around as well as the way he teaches the material has helped me learn the most out of a class than I ever have. I believe the thing that makes Mr.T stand out to me the most however is how eager he is for us to succeed, he shows how much he cares about us which makes the learning experience worthwhile.

Jacob Delgado Posted 8 months ago

Ever since I walked into your class for Algebra 2 when I was a sophomore, I was greeted by your contagious smile. I’m now a senior in my third year of having you as a teacher, and I’m proud to say I have loved every second of it. I appreciate how patient, understanding, and caring you are to students, and the workload ethic that makes it easy for students to complete. I believe that your teaching is greatly appreciated, and it has helped me learn plenty, from understanding algebra 2 to understanding the different colleges, and even to understanding financial literacy. I’m grateful to have such a beloved teacher.

Mr. T's personality is exactly what his photo depicts: extremely positive, caring, and understanding. I can honestly say I retain more knowledge in his class effortlessly than in any of my other courses. Mr. T's teaching skills are truly commendable.

Kensington E. Posted 8 months ago

Mr. T has played a huge role in shaping my experience with math. He recognized that I learn best with one-on-one support, tutoring, and a slower pace—and he has never made me feel embarrassed about that. Instead, he has encouraged me and helped me stay confident. Because of his guidance, I’ve started to really understand concepts not just in his class, but in others too. I even use what I’ve learned in Financial Literacy to help me solve problems in different subjects like Macro-Economics.

Landon Pinales Posted 9 months ago

Mr. T is about as well-rounded as an educator can get. I had the privilege of being in his Fast Track math class as well as serving on his Link Crew mentorship team for two years. Given that Fast Track was the first class he taught at Townview, I was one of his first students as he made the adjustment to teaching in a new school. Surprisingly, that shift never seemed to faze him - from day one, it was clear that Mr. T was not only an elite educator but a great person overall. He broke down concepts in ways that were digestible for all students and never hesitated to take that extra minute to make sure no one was left behind. It was fitting that he was chosen to lead the Link Crew mentorship program, as he possesses all the qualities of an exceptional mentor: empathy, patience, integrity, and so much more. As if launching the Link Crew program at Townview wasn’t challenging enough, Mr. T was also responsible for guiding it through the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. It almost seemed like he embraced the challenge - every Zoom meeting we had, he led with positivity and confidence. Since graduating high school, I’ve continued to hear countless good things about Mr. T and the positive energy he brings to his students and fellow educators. As I prepare to graduate college this coming spring, there’s no doubt that Mr. T’s influence will stay with me through whatever comes next. Mr. T’s exceptional qualities as an educator, mentor, and person make him, without question, the most deserving candidate for this award.

Mr. T is the kind of teacher you only get once in a lifetime. He truly cares about every student at Townview, not just the ones in his own classes. His attention to detail, genuine care, and love for teaching shine through in every interaction I’ve had with him. I only had Mr. T for College Transition, but I saw his enthusiasm in action many times through my involvement in Link Crew. Mr. T is the kind of teacher every student needs. His classroom is a place where kids feel comfortable eating lunch, spending time, and being themselves. He is a bright light in the halls of Townview, and if every school had a Mr. T, the world would be a better place.

Mr. Tadesse saved my life. No exaggeration, no over crediting, simply the truth. As a first generation college student, I have struggled with my mental health for as long as I can remember, and during high school, there were many times when life felt unbearable, like everything was collapsing around me. I always carried this pressure to do something great, to make my family proud, but I had no real idea how to get there, and at my lowest points, I honestly didn’t think I could. When Mr. T joined the Law Magnet, he became the teacher everyone could count on. To me, he became that and more. He was the person who noticed when I went quiet, who checked in even when I didn’t ask for help. Whether it was a quick conversation between his breaks, a long conversation after class, or just a moment where he made sure I felt seen, he always made time. And when it seemed like I had completely given up on myself and my future, he refused to give up on me. He kept me grounded and reminded me that I mattered. What makes Mr. T so special is that he’s like that for everyone. His care isn’t selective. It’s constant, it’s real, and it’s selfless. He built a space where we felt like a family. He taught us what it meant to look out for one another, to lead with empathy, and to hold ourselves accountable. He believed in us even when we didn’t believe in ourselves. Mr. T isn’t just a teacher, he’s the heart of the Law Magnet. He changed my life, and I know I’m not the only one who can say that. He's someone you never stop appreciating no matter how much time has passed.

Mr. T was a phenomenal teacher during my time at Law Magnet. He was attentive, kind, and understanding. I remember during COVID, he was my Algebra 2 teacher, and he would help us out so much, and made online learning easier. Additionally, I had his SAT math prep class, and he made understanding the math so much easier. Overall, he’s a great teacher, and he should keep up the great work! Thank you so much Mr. T for your kindness and support!

I have worked alongside Mr. Tadesse for years, and he is one of the most exceptional educators I have met in my career. You can learn a lot about a teacher by the atmosphere in their classroom. We share a wall, and I often hear his students laughing, clapping, and celebrating one another. His test scores speak for themselves, but joy in a math class is both rare and invaluable. He takes the time to organize and implement a classroom economy where students collect and trade tickets for prizes. While we teach teenagers, they love this system because it rewards hard work, curiosity, and productive engagement—not just correct answers. His students understand that making mistakes is part of learning; he even keeps a tally of his own, modeling humility and growth. Students may forget how to factor over summer break, but they talk about Mr. T’s class until they graduate. Even after they leave his classroom, they return for college access help, advice, or simply to visit, because he builds strong, lasting relationships. As a twelfth-year teacher, I often tell my students that there’s “nothing new under the sun,” but Mr. Tadesse genuinely inspires me to keep improving my craft. His Financial Math course—built entirely from the ground up—teaches students about college loans, credit cards, budgeting, and personal finance. Students regularly tell me that his class is useful “in real life,” which is notoriously difficult to achieve in mathematics. He combines high expectations with the ability to meet students where they are. On a personal note, Mr. T has been consistently supportive and welcoming to me and the other math teachers. He shares resources, ideas, and even weekly “challenge problems” so we can collaborate and play mathematician together. When I began at our school without a classroom of my own, he opened his room to me, sharing supplies and creating a space where both I and my students felt valued. It may sound excessive, but I truly believe Mr. Tadesse is the best teacher I have ever met. A rising tide lifts all ships, and his presence has elevated our entire department and school community. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.

You will not find a more worthy recipient. Mr. Tadesse’s vision and wholehearted dedication have shaped not only our students’ futures but the very heart of our campus community. His integrity and leadership has definitely set the gold standard for what it means to be an educator here in the Law Magnet. He is also a superb human being, a good listener and a family man.

Banessa Garcia Posted 9 months ago

Mr. T taught me many valuable lessons during the few years I had him as a teacher, but most importantly, he taught me to believe in myself and to build resilience. From the moment he joined our campus, the atmosphere of our high school began to change, he made it a more supportive, encouraging, and connected environment. I had heard amazing things about him long before I was in his class, which speaks to just how deeply his influence reached across the school. He was one of my biggest supporter throughout the college application process and was one of the first people I told about my acceptance into UT as a non auto-admission student. Beyond the classroom, he founded an organization called Link Crew, which promotes large-scale mentorship and creates leadership opportunities for students to make a lasting impact on the school. In a world filled with doubt, he was the one person always in our corner. He embodies what it means to be a servant leader and has left a permanent mark on the hearts of his students and the culture of the campus.

Mr. T is a teacher you never forget. I first heard of Mr. T my freshman year of high school and I knew that I needed him to be my algebra 2 teacher. My sophomore year I so blessed to get Mr. T as my teacher till this very day it was the only class I had a 100 the entire year in. Mr. T impacted my understanding of Math in a way not many teachers had done before. At that point I wasn’t just a student I was also a teacher to my peers because of Mr. T. My junior year of high school Mr. T taught the Math portion of our college transition class, we focused on SAT math prep and after he helped teach us how to prepare financially for college. This class was something so out of the box and Mr. T was part of it. The support that Mr. T gave everyone was one of a kind. Mr. T is the teacher you can always go to and leave feeling better. My senior year I didn’t have Mr. T as a teacher but he was teacher over a program called Link Crew where I was one of 30 student mentors. Mr. T lead us in helping to ease the transition from middle school to high school. He showed us how to be leaders everyday no matter where we went. Mr. T is THE teacher, the person you never forget because he always made sure everyone was taken care of. He has a heart and passion that just can’t be taught, and he continuously impacts everyone around him. Now as a sophomore in college I still used the tools of life that Mr. T gave to me over the course of my high school career. Thank you Mr. T!!

This is my first year as a teacher at the JBS Law Magnet, but in spite of my short time here at the school I have heard and observed nothing but extremely positive things regarding Mr. Tadesse! He is an awesome educator who goes above and beyond for his students. I have truly valued the support he has offered as a colleague and novice teacher. I come away from each of our interactions grateful to be afforded the opportunity to work with talented and passionate change-makers like Mr. T!

Mr. Tadesse is an amazing teacher, and his creation of the College Transition class has had such a meaningful impact not only on me, but on so many other students as well. As a first-generation student, having a class dedicated to preparing me for life after high school is incredibly valuable, and I’m truly grateful to be a part of it. Beyond the College Transition class, programs like Link Crew that Mr. Tadesse helps lead have shaped our school community in such a positive way. He’s made a real difference.

I’m his former student and I still am impacted by the lessons Mr T has taught me. I’ve had him for almost every year of my high school journey, starting my sophomore year. But my freshman year I’ve heard great stories about him and I was very eager to start his class. One very special thing I will never forget is trading my tickets for some Reese’s cup. Even though he was teaching me how to be smart with my money I wasn’t being with my tickets. We laughed about it every time. Great teacher and overall amazing friend.

Ever since he founded linkcrew townview law magnet has been extremely successful in raising leaders and helping incoming students feel welcomed. The legal pad is the new and improved way for townview news. It inspires students to be creative and feel included by working together and using their voice. Mr.T is a great teacher especially for college transition class. As a junior in high school this is one of my hardest years with all my AP classes and having to worry about what colleges to apply to, but Mr. T makes it so much easier. I've learned so much about what colleges look for and how to apply and I even learned about scholarships that I didn't know were a thing. I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr Tadesse since August 2014 when he joined the math team at Samuell high school. Mr T is by no doubt the best teacher I have ever worked with in my 18 years as an educator! Teaching is his absolute passion! He is definitely one of a kind! Extremely nurturing and a role model for every student and teachers alike! At samuell his classroom was a safe haven for his students, he created a challenging, mutual respect and nurturing environment for his students. He wasn’t just their classroom teacher, he was their mentor, role model and in some cases a father figure. His remarkable dedication made it no surprise when he was named teacher of the year at samuell for the year 2018-2019. Samuell greatly benefited from his contributions to the math department and the school as a whole. Through it all he always remained extremely humble about it anytime he was recognized. Mr T is truly one of a kind! He changed many lives at Samuel high school both students and teachers. Personally he challenged me to be a better teacher and he’s always the first teacher past students will ask off when they visit the school and that’s a testament to the impact he had on their lives. Every community needs a ‘Mr T’ to help change and shape lives!

You can tell that he's not just doing this job for the paycheck; he's truly dedicated to helping us learn and grow. Mr. T's energy and commitment make his classes engaging and inspiring, and I feel really lucky to have had him as my teacher.

He is a passionate, caring, and invested educator that goes above and beyond each day to give his students the best experiences they can have. He continuously pushes them to be the best version of themselves, while being a beacon for his students. He is innovative and solution minded when finding new opportunities for our school and our students. He has brought countless events to the campus, while bolstering our academic curriculum with the introduction of new courses. I wish every student could experience the greatness of Mr. Tadesse, but for now I will settle for him being here for the students and staff of the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet.

Before joining Link Crew, I would consider myself unmotivated and disconnected from school and the people around me. At the end of Sophomore year, Link Crew leaders came into classrooms to promote this mentorship program. I considered the idea because I saw the connections that current Link Crew leaders had with each other, but most importantly, I noticed the closeness they had with the sponsor. Throughout my first two years of high school, I yearned for a sense of community and a mentor figure, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity for me to become involved and connected with my school. I applied, and the rest was everything I wanted out of high school and more, but it was all thanks to the sponsor, the greatest of all time, Mr. Tadesse (aka Mr. T!!!). I was honored to serve as a Link Crew Leader for the rest of my high school career, and even luckier to have a mentor guiding me and inspiring me to become a better version of myself. Although, as a Link Crew leader, you mentor incoming high schoolers, Mr.T was very vocal about looking out for our own well-being first. Mr.T would meet one-on-one every semester with each mentor to talk about school and anything that we’d like to share. The first check-in is still very memorable to me because not only did Mr.T give me Rellerindos, my favorite Mexican candy, but he also gave me advice that changed my outlook on high school and life in general. During the check-in, he pointed out a “B” on my grades and told me he believed I could bring that to an “A”. After the meeting, I believed in myself more and felt much more motivated for school, but I also felt an immense calmness knowing that I could come to Mr.T whenever I needed help. Not only did he uplift every student that came his way, but he was someone all of us looked up to. Senior year, I served as a team lead and had the opportunity to help and see the behind-the-scenes of what it took to manage Link Crew. I saw firsthand how Mr.T stayed well past after-school hours countless times to carry out successful events, go above and beyond any expectations, and outshine himself day after day. Being surrounded by such a hardworking mentor, I developed work ethic and time management skills, both of which I use every day and help me in college currently. Like me, there are hundreds of students whose lives have been impacted due to Mr.T. Without a doubt, Mr.T is our school's life changer and is immensely deserving to be named LifeChanger of the Year!

Mr. T is the greatest! He helped me find a career path where I was able to apply my mathematical skills with a passion. Being a member of Link Crew helped me develop my leadership skills and fostered my desire to get involved in both my professional and social communities. I don't believe I would've been as successful in my university undergrad career if it wasn't for the values and mindset I developed as Mr. T's student. In these ways, Mr. Tadesse impacts not only the lives of his students, but of the communities his students go on to lead as well.

Jasmine Armstrong Posted 10 months ago

I've known since I was a young child that I wanted to be an educator when I got older. But it wasn't until I got to know Mr. T that I realized what being a good educator really meant. Mr. T's classroom alone was a testament to how meticulously he thought out every procedure, every experience, and every feeling his students were to have in his classroom every day that they attended his class. Greeting us one by one everyday, it wasn't just "Good morning", it was "Hey how was that calculus test yesterday?" "How was soccer practice?" "You seem down, do you want to talk?". Mr. T was the most compassionate teacher I've ever had. And aside from perfecting the soft skills that teaching requires, Mr. T was organized, neat, consistent, fair, and loyal. When he was teaching, it felt like he made you a promise that he would never let you down, and he truly never did. I left his classroom every single day being better at something -- whether it was algebra, or accepting others, or dealing with stress, or prioritizing myself and my education, or becoming the seed of an educator myself. When I think about why I became a teacher today, I think about the experiences and acceptance I had being Mr. T's student, and how I owe it to my students now to make them feel just as valued when they come into my classroom. I cannot think of a better educator than Mr. Yonathan Tadesse.

Stefany Limones Posted 10 months ago

Although never having Mr. T as a teacher in a course, he had one of the most impactful effects on my high school career. That’s the kind of teacher he is - he goes above and beyond for the entire school, whether students have him on their schedules or not. I was fortunate enough to be a part of Link Crew in its first year. During this year, I got to see Mr. T’s genuine care and effort in students’ holistic experience. He symbolizes, to me, the importance of being a whole person. As years went on and I finished college, Mr. T and I have remained in touch, even starting a small scholarship for Link Crew students. Mr. T jumped at the idea and helped me accomplish a goal I’ve always had in mind, again as a person who’s always been interested in the betterment of the students. A lot of our community wouldn’t be as great as it is if it weren’t for Mr. T.

Mr. T is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is also one of the kindest people I have ever met. The last two years of high school were extremely rough for me. Although it wouldn’t seem like it, he was one of the only adults in my life that I could confidently turn to for advice. He always listened with open ears, and made a comfortable and inclusive community for students in his classroom. Mr. T was also the reason I found my dream college! He was always sending out opportunities for students to grow outside of the classroom, and that’s how I found my dream college through a summer camp. Aside from his personal impact on my life and the lives of other students, Mr. T is a great role model. He most certainly is one of the best representatives for being a life changer.

From the couple of years I got to spend as one of Mr. T’s students, I can confidently say that he is a paragon of student outreach, leadership, and compassion. Very rarely have I seen another teacher so earnest about meeting students where they are and helping holistically. No matter what the problem was, I could always expect him to be present and diligent. He is a man who is clearly passionate not only for teaching, but for the well-being and long-term success of each of his students. I could think of no one more deserving of such an award.

Roderick Pearson Posted 10 months ago

I met Mr. T in my sophomore year at the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet. Before taking his Algebra II class, I had lost all of my confidence in my proficiency in math. Growing up as a child with ADHD, years of oversights, mistakes, and poor grades in the subject led me to accept that math wasn't for me, and that I'd always be bad at it. However, upon finding myself in Mr. T's classroom, my self-esteem regarding math didn't just improve, but I found myself thriving in the subject. Mr. T has a teaching style like no other. He makes his lessons engaging, provides positive incentives to promote learning, has an encouraging disposition, and, most importantly, his passion for teaching is felt by every student who interacts with him. I found that I was always capable of excelling in math, but I just hadn't been given the right support and encouragement to perform at my best. Mr. T was able to provide me with all of the resources I needed to regain that faith in myself. Through taking courses with him, my mindset regarding my studies shifted. No longer was my drive to succeed in my classes contingent on appeasing my parents or having a good transcript to get into a good college. It evolved into a self-motivated approach in which I challenge myself to be the best that I can be in whatever I do. I am now in my senior year of college, and the mindset Mr. T helped cultivate has endured, allowing me to thrive in this environment as well. Mr. T's excellence isn't limited to his prowess as an educator, though. Mr. T was also the mentor I needed to make it through high school. Many students in this country, let alone Dallas ISD, have exceptional potential to succeed in this world, but their environment clips their wings. Without someone in their life to push and support them to greater heights, their life outcomes suffer. I could've been one of those children. The struggles I endured during the latter half of high school would've been enough to doom any student to a suffering academic career and a future filled with misfortune and uncertainty. The only difference between me and any other student in such a situation was that I had a person like Mr. T in my life. Mr. T was always available to listen to my struggles. Never did he once judge me or make me feel that I was defective. He was always careful in his approach, and he was able to provide the encouragement and guidance for me to stay focused on my academics. I'd say that in the field of education, there are few truly kind teachers, and even rarer will you find an educator who carries themselves with the benevolence of Yonathan Tedesse. Lastly, Mr. T is responsible for transforming the culture and community of the school. Not only did he establish a mentorship program to assist and support incoming freshmen following COVID-19, but he also created the Law Legal Pad. I was lucky enough to be one of the founding members of Link Crew at the Law Magnet. Mr. T allowed many students to engage in servant leadership, a trait essential in building one's character and giving them the tools necessary to become a positive actor in their community. Before Link Crew, I believe that much of the school's culture was divided, but the organization allowed everyone to come together through the shared goal of supporting those who will follow behind us. Though it's been four years since I left the school, that culture has stood the test of time, and the kindness from our efforts has endured, paid forward to the next class of students entering the school. Link Crew also allowed its mentors to stand out from the ordinary and surely contributed to building solid resumes that carried us through doors that would've otherwise been closed off to us. When we walk through these doors, we know how to carry ourselves with the dignity and principles we developed during our time in Link Crew. I could go on all day talking about the way that Mr. T has changed the lives of my peers and me. Though I'm sure many teachers qualify for this recognition, I am resolved to say that I believe that none deserve it more than Mr. T.

I met Mr. Tadesse when I was a junior in high school and worked with him until I graduated. He was the adviser of Law Link Crew, a group of upperclassmen dedicated to helping incoming students adjust to high school life. Through the program, Mr.Tadesse showed just how much he cared about students, students that he hadn't even met yet. He is one of the kindest, most patient person I've ever met. He isn't just a math teacher, he is a mentor and adviser in every aspect of his life. Mr.Tadesse gives everything 100%, he puts his heart into everything he's involved in. During my senior year, he became the adviser for the high school's new newspaper/magazine and put in the same amount of time, dedication, and care into it as Link Crew. He holds everyone around him to a higher standard both academically and in extracurriculars. If you had him as an adviser, a teacher, or just saw him in the hallways it was hard to not smile, wave or say hi to him. He's someone that makes it easy to follow him. Mr.Tadessee is the living and breathing definition of someone with a lot of integrity, attentiveness, kindness, patience, and most importantly — he cares like no other.

When I arrived at the Law Magnet, through all the dedication he put into the extracurriculars he ran, Mr. T made me feel welcomed and excited about what was to come. He accepted my application into these extracurriculars just a year later because he saw a passion in me that I wasn’t even aware of yet. Mr. T is passionate about everything he does, whether it’s in the classroom, before or after school, or when helping with college applications. For years now, I have found myself quoting some of the most memorable slogans he instilled in us, like, “If it’s not fun, it won’t get done.” He often said this at our extracurricular meetings, and it truly changed my outlook on the activities I was involved in. It allowed me to see them in a new light, helping me become more passionate about them over time and find joy in every minute of participating. Mr. T is one of those teachers you encounter only a few times throughout your educational journey, the ones that stay with you for a lifetime.

Mr. T has taught me in ways that I can understand. For years I've had trouble with math, and often times teacher's style of presenting never got through to me. With Mr. T on the other hand, I was able to not only understand different algebraic formulas but as well understand the benefits of savings and stocks that could prepare me for the future. Even during times of preparation during SAT testing, he was able to tutor me on the potential math selection and located resources for me to use for financial aid.I wouldn't have got as far as I have now if it wasn't for him. He goes above and beyond in ensuring that we, as his students, succeed to our goals.

Having Mr. T as my teacher for 3 years in a row has been amazing. He always knows how to teach with clarity and make sure his students understand and soak in the info he gives. He goes beyond what the average even above average teacher would go. He knows how to ensure his students are well taken care of and improve. Even outside of academics he is easy to talk to about anything in life and gives great advice.

Mr. T is my favorite teacher of all time. And nothing can change my mind about that. When people ask me what my favorite class or teacher is, I always look back and say Mr. T’s 7th PD Algebra II class, as it allowed me to meet a teacher who would change my career as a student forever. The hush of Mr. T’s classroom and the calm he brought always eased my nerves. I’ve had the privilege of being Mr. T’s student first as his Algebra II student, later in college transition class, while also being part of Link Crew under his leadership, my junior year. He is honestly the only math teacher I know that I wasn’t scared of. It almost shocked me how my peers were genuinely excited and rushed in when 7th PD Algebra II began because of how much of a welcoming environment he fostered through his teaching. The way he would make his students laugh and smile (he’s very funny, and one of the few teachers I know that can really make me laugh), his smile is incredibly contagious, even after a rough day. It's amazing that a single teacher has the power of such efficacious change. Through Link Crew, I have not only witnessed him keep the tradition of leadership of this organization he founded, but also take it to a whole new level, progressing this leadership group in unprecedented ways. As a senior, I now realize the impact Mr. T truly had on my growth. What I respect so profoundly about Mr. T, which I rarely find in my teachers throughout my schooling, is the willingness to improve and have the ambition to always be better. Fortunately, I see that from Mr. T, as he is a true role model and inspiration to me, of how with tangible work, ambition, and progress, you can make the utmost difference to yourself and others around you. As I look back, all these years, I now realize that the true person always rooting, supporting, and helping me grow into a better student, mentor, and leader was Mr. Yonathan Taddesse. He progresses the Law Magnet generation to a whole new level; the seeds of knowledge he has planted will grow in future generations at Townview, and his ambition, charisma, and tangible work ethic will propel his students to be LifeChangers just like him.

Mr.Tadesse was there to help me navigate highschool and the college process but not only academic support; he was there to support me personally. He was and is the first person that most students at Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet reach out to for help and guidance. Navigating college meant that most of us had to pivot due to the the lack of accessible opportunities offered to marginalized students. Every day, Mr.Tadesse encouraged and supported us to go above and beyond, regardless of our limited opportunities. While I navigated trying to find a university that offered merit scholarships, as an immigrant DACA student, Mr. Tadeese unconditionally supported me. When I was offered the opportunity to receive a full scholarship to the university I currently attend, he would spend any free time he had practicing the interview with me and researching the interview process. I am now receiving close to $100,000 every year to attend and live at a university that is not supposed to be easily accessible to me. I can say without a doubt that this would not have been possible without Mr.Tadesse’s mentorship and unwavering support. The opportunities I have received after high school are nothing short of life-changing. I am in rooms every day that my parents and grandparents were not even dreaming about, and this is largely due to Mr. Tadesse’s and his academic, personal, and emotional support for his students. My background is not unique because most students are from marginalized communities, and every year I have seen students at Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet also attend universities that will change the life of their kids and their kids’ kids. All of this goes to say that there is no better description than “Life Changer” for Mr.Tadesse and there is nobody I know more deserving of an award titled as such.

In 2014, I had Mr. T as my algebra teacher at Samuel High School. His class was known for being engaging and effective and everyone knew they would learn something valuable. Mr. T kept us motivated, fostered an interest in mathematics, and most importantly, demonstrated genuine understanding of our challenging circumstances. He encouraged us to strive for more and to become responsible citizens. Compared to other teachers, Mr. T stands out because, while many can teach, few possess his passion and dedication for our success. Now, in 2025, as I approach the final year of law school, I have yet to encounter another teacher like Mr. T, someone who made students feel that coming from the "hood" did not mean we could not overcome the odds.

Mr. T is truly an amazing teacher. Even though my time in Legalpad has been short, I’m so grateful to have been around someone so genuine and caring. From the start, he’s shown patience and a unique way of connecting with his students. Honestly, I don’t think any other teacher would have let me be late to two meetings without frustration, but Mr. T understood that life happens and showed compassion instead. That’s just who he is, a teacher who truly cares. He also lives by a message that stays with all of us: Be heard, be bold. Refine, don’t repeat. If it’s not fun, it’s not done. If we do it, we do it well. These words don’t just belong to him. They carry through Legalpad and Link Crew, shaping how we work and reminding us that excellence can go hand in hand with joy. Because of that, Mr. T has made a lasting impact on our school and in our hearts!

Alexandra Garcia Posted 10 months ago

I cannot begin to describe the impact Mr. T has had on my life. He helped me find a community/family when I needed it most during my junior year, and has been a person I have looked up to since then. When I was struggling during my senior year of high school while applying for college, he gave me the push no other teacher had given me and made me believe in myself. If it hadn’t been because of his listening ear and advice, I don’t think I would’ve been brave enough to apply to the college I now attend and get a full ride. I know that he’ll continue to inspire and aid many more students just like he’s been doing until now. He deserves this award.

Mr. T is one of the most supportive teachers I know. He approaches every day with patience and grace. He’s friendly to everyone while simultaneously holding each and everyone of us accountable to be the best version of ourselves. He’s always kind but that doesn’t mean he sugarcoat things he’ll tell you how it is because sometimes that’s what you need to hear. He’s a trendsetter at our school. His classic slogans and teaching methods are reused by teachers in various extracurriculars to follow his model. Everything he does he does with purpose and authenticity. I’m forever grateful to have a teacher like him. He’s an inspiration to us all.

Throughout my four years at the Law Magnet, the one person I will always credit for my happiest moments is Mr. T. Working alongside him for two years was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I am forever grateful for all that he taught me. I am proud to say I know him and am deeply appreciative of the countless ways he supported me, from his guidance to simply offering a listening ear. I would not be the person I am today without Mr. T. He gave me the space to be my authentic self and challenged me to grow into a stronger leader, mentor, and overall better person. I truly hope everyone has the chance to know Mr. T, it is a blessing to have someone like him in your life.

Mr. T is the epitome of a dedicated teacher. I have never encountered a teacher so genuine and caring about their students academically and socially. Mr. T has known me throughout every stage of high school, and I was in his classroom nearly every day, whether for class or for clubs. He met me where I was and taught me what it truly means to be a leader. Watching him manage two major clubs at our high school, teach math like a simple idea that only requires the right mindset, and still help with administrative needs was inspiring, to say the least. We all value his time, opinion, and effort because his influence pushes those around him to want to apply themselves even more, and to pay attention to details, might I add! Mr. T strengthened the core pillars of our academic community. He instills leadership values into his students, creating a cohort of young people dedicated to making a lasting impact on their community. I genuinely believe that without the two organizations Mr. T established at the Law Magnet, Link Crew and The Legal Pad, the school’s social dynamic would be vastly different in a way noticeable to many. I truly appreciate Mr. T and his profound impression on my leadership values today!

Mr.Tadesse is one of the most good-willed, genuine, and caring people I think I will ever meet in my life. When I was under his mentorship I would often joke with my peers that he was a “Unicorn” because of how untainted his compassionate nature is. I wholeheartedly believe this man is pure of heart. He has a knack for taking unenthused, jaded highschoolers and turning them into passionate, team-orientated students that will navigate the world better because of his influence. Either it be in Class, Clubs, or the Law Magnet as a whole he truly brings out the best in people. He is a shining example of what a teacher can be, and how profoundly they can impact lives. Without a doubt, I can say Mr.T’s reach has impacted hundreds of students for the better. He is an exceptional Mentor, Instructor, member of his community AND he does it all while balancing a family life. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award than him.

I met Mr T when he taught at Samuell High School. He was my algebra teacher at first and nothing more. But the way he carries himself in the classroom one can tell he’s not there for a check and benefits, he was there for me and the rest of the students. He was a great teacher and mentor in and out of the classroom. He kept me busy when I could’ve gotten into trouble and guided me down a better path. He had definitely made a difference in my life and other students like myself.

Lena Rembert Posted 10 months ago

Mr. T is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is also one of the kindest people I have ever met. The last two years of high school were extremely rough for me. Although it wouldn’t seem like it, he was one of the only adults in my life that I could confidently turn to for advice. He always listened with open ears and made a comfortable and inclusive community for students in his classroom.

Brenda Palacio Posted 10 months ago

Mr. T is a not just a teacher, he’s a mentor, coordinator, and a life changer. From my very first impression of him, Mr. T demonstrated that his love for teaching is like no other. Mr. T’s long lasting impacts can be shown through the organizations he helped lift up at the Law Magnet, such as Link Crew and The Legal Pad. He shows his commitment to students by allowing open communication, constructive feedback, and creating a culture of excellence. He has inspired me to become a reliable leader, who one day, can make a change in the world. I am forever grateful I was one of his students. Thank you Mr. T!

As a Junior in college, one of my fondest memories surrounding high school have involved Mr. T. He's an incredible teacher, mentor, and support system. I've never met a student who has not been able to connect and build a genuine bond with him as a teacher. I always felt extremely comfortable learning in his classroom, and would never hesitate to voice my concerns or opinions around him, I knew he would welcome my advocacy. As a student you will grow, learn, and succeed with Mr. T around! I will always appreciate the kindness he displayed to me and my fellow peers!

It is no surprise to me to see Mr. Tadesse being nominated for an award like this! I walked Into his class at a time in my life when I felt the lowest I had ever known and not only did he have a warm welcome for me, he had nothing but encouragement and support to share with me alone my way to turning my life around for the better! He is an amazing person and an incredible teacher and anyone who is blessed to be taught by him will surely agree! He is absolutely deserving of this recognition in every way and it makes me so happy to know he is still impacting lives and strongly as he impacted mine! Thank you Mr. Tadesse for being who you are and spreading your light in this world!

Mr. T is an anchor to the Law Magnet community. The students of the Law Magnet often pose questions of financial literacy, math, community, writing, and expression. These questions can be disorienting in many ways but, in my experience Mr. T has helped students, like myself, make sense of this confusion and ultimately find answers. In the chaos of testing seasons, college application processes, and the last weeks of senior year, Mr. T's words of wisdom, support, and encouragement provided me and my peers with the courage to face our issues head on. In a world where life leaves us feeling like we are trying to navigate the strongest of currents, we need people like Mr. T who ground and support the people around them. I speak for the entire Law Magnet when I say, thank you Mr. T for being the anchor that everyone needs

Sarahi Vasquez Posted 10 months ago

It’s been 3 years since I was last taught by Mr. Tadesse, but his impact still guides the way I lead, mentor, and carry myself with confidence and care for others. Mr. T always reminded me of the leader he saw in me before I saw it in myself. His wise phrase, “Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care,” has become a guiding principle in my own college journey. Because of his influence, I am now a third year in college serving as both a mentor and instructor to other first-generation students, just as he once mentored me. Mr. T has inspired ALL of his students to become leaders who do the same for others.

Myzraim Espinoza Posted 10 months ago

For only knowing Mr. T for a little over two years, he has single handedly changed my life in ways that I am incapable of repaying back and am incredibly thankful for. He was the one of the reasons I am so confident in my choice in becoming a teacher, he was the reason I crave to be involved in so many parts in my community, and he is the reason I take my education as serious as I currently do. Without Mr. T’s influence in my life, I wouldn’t be as half successful in my education as I would be!

I’m a recent graduate of the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet (current freshman at Princeton), and I had the pleasure of working with Mr. T for two years during my junior and senior year. He sense of vision for all the organizations that he runs, his dedication/attention to detail, and his servant leadership have all inspired me. He was a great mentor, and he made me into a better mentor as well.

Mr. T is truly someone who has made an impact on so many students at the Law Magnet, including me. He puts his whole heart into everything he does and makes every space he’s in feel welcoming. Honestly, we don’t just have a teacher, we have the one and only Law Mag GOAT !!!

I have never come across a teacher quite like Mr. T. In fact, I don't think I have ever come across anybody like him. I also have never met anybody with a smile so pearly white. I'm being serious, I risk being blinded every time I tell a joke. Above all, Mr. T is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Even though I only had his class one time for one year, his support from the other organizations he is involved with was tremendous. Our school would not be the same without him, and I am forever grateful for everything he has done.

Yonathan Tadesse is a dedicated leader who always puts students first. He works cross-functionally with the PTSA to create programs and events that benefit students and staff, and he also manages the school’s social media page and student-run newspaper to keep families and the community connected. In the classroom, he sets high expectations while giving students the support they need to succeed. His leadership, collaboration, and commitment make him a true LifeChanger.

Mr. T gave me the opportunity to grow as a person. Without him, I truly don’t believe I would be where I am today. He made me believe that I could do anything, that no challenge was too big for me to handle. Through Link Crew, he gave me the space to make mistakes and learn from them without judgment. I was never afraid to come to him with a problem I was facing. His room became my safe space, a place where I could cry, laugh, and just be myself. When it came to Link Crew, he put his whole heart and soul into it, making sure every detail was just right. He had a saying "We're not going to do something unless we’re putting our all into it.” And that’s exactly what he modeled. Every event we planned, he guided us to success. I saw that success reflected in the students who attended there was always smiling, laughing, and joy coming out of those rooms. I remember one of my mentees coming out of her shell because of the environment he helped us create. To me, leadership is about influence, and Mr. T influenced me in everything I did. He’s a big reason why I became the leader I am today. In fact, one of the biggest reasons I want to become an educator myself is because of him. The atmosphere Mr. T created was always welcoming and respectful. When he taught Algebra 2, he was and still is the best math teacher I’ve ever had. I used to not enjoy math, but because of him, I now hope to become a math teacher myself. Mr. T is a once in a lifetime teacher. If I could, I’d retake his class over and over again.

Mr. T is the GOAT. In all seriousness, he shows so much care for his students and the law magnet as a whole, demonstrated through his past commitment to Link Crew and now to Legal Pad. He always provides thoughtful feedback and pushes us to do our best while staying true to our values. He genuinely wants to give students a platform in a society where our voices can feel small, and because of that, I’ve been inspired to pursue journalism outside of school—something I never considered before. Thank you, Mr. T.

Mr. Tadesse’s (or Mr. T/The Goat) love for pouring into his students is something you can feel in every interaction with him. When I was in high school, I often struggled to see my own potential, especially when it came to standardized tests and the pressure of earning scholarships. I remember feeling so discouraged about the SAT and doubting whether I’d even be able to afford college. But Mr. Tadesse never let me sit in that doubt, he checked on me, encouraged me, and constantly reminded me that I was capable. His words and support pushed me to keep going, and because of that, I earned a full-ride scholarship to college. Now, as a junior in college, his impact on my education is still clear. I’m thriving in sectors that involve math, maintaining a 3.9 GPA, and all the while holding onto the encouragement he gave me years ago. What stands out most isn’t just his teaching, but his kindness and belief in me when I couldn’t find it in myself. And I know this isn’t just my story. This is the experience of so many of his students. His support continues to guide us and reminds us daily that we are capable of more than we once believed. He is more than deserving of this nomination. Thank you Mr. T, for believing in all of us!!

Mr. Tadesse is a wonderful teacher whose compassion and care for his students are truly a blessing. As a current junior at the Law Magnet, I am very thankful to have him as my teacher because he creates a safe space where everyone feels comfortable and supported. Starting my day in his classroom makes me feel safe, encouraged, and ready for any challenges ahead.

Mr. T is the textbook definition of a life changer. He is a man who spends his mornings answering questions students have about financial aid, leaves his door open during lunch, and accepts requests for tutoring most days after school. I first met Mr. T as my Algebra II teacher of sophomore year, and my first impression of him was how extremely organized he was—creating a calendar for our units. Later that year, I applied for Link Crew, the student mentorship organization he founded, and he has been a familiar face in my school life since then. He personally has been helping me make my dreams come true in terms of attending college, and I know many of his students can say the same. He is the best teacher I've ever had, explaining unfamiliar financial concepts to me in my preferred learning method, and throughout the years, he has never lived down to his self-made expectations. Even when he stepped down from Link Crew coordinator, he continues to help us in our various endeavors and even helps our new coordinator in her unexpected challenges. He is the most deserving person of this award, and I know this not only from my own experiences, but also from his timeless reputation at the Law Magnet.

Mr. Tadesse is the cornerstone teacher here at Law Magnet. His leadership and dedication have made a profound impact on our campus. As the founder of Link Crew, Mr. Tadesse built a mentorship program that has shaped the Law Magnet student experience. He led the program with passion and purpose, and thanks to his continued support, it remains strong today. Since passing the Link Crew torch to me, he has gone out of his way to help me succeed. He consistently offers his guidance, even outside of his busy schedule, to ensure the program continues to thrive. His contributions have enhanced the culture of our school and inspired a legacy of outstanding leadership. He's also just the nicest guy!

Mr. Tadesse, or best known as Mr. T, is one of the most caring and encouraging teachers I have ever met. He has been with me through both 11th and 12th grade as a teacher and as a father figure in our school family tree. Not only has he helped me in the classroom, but also in extracurriculars like Link Crew and Legal Pad, where he passes on his leadership skills to students, creating a ripple effect for the next generation. At our school, he is known for his renowned smile and nurturing nature, where he creates a safe environment that welcomes students and acts as a second home for many students who walk into his classroom. (I know I have this experience when my friends and I eat lunch in his classroom and ask him silly questions.)

When I think about the teachers who have shaped my life, Mr. Yonathan Tadesse, better known as Mr. T, immediately comes to mind. Mr. T is not just an educator; he’s a mentor, a motivator, and one of the first people who truly believed in me. His dedication to his students goes far beyond the classroom, and I am living proof of the difference he makes. Mr. T creates opportunities where students like me can grow as leaders and as people. Through programs like Link Crew and The Legal Pad, he gave me the space to find my voice and build confidence in ways I never imagined possible. I still remember how he encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, to take on leadership roles, and to see challenges not as roadblocks but as stepping stones.

Mr. T was a very memorable teacher of mine. One I will definitely never forget. He taught me all about leadership and impact. Most importantly he taught me that people don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care. I carry that with me in my day to day life and it has allowed me to be successful. Mr.T is one of the most genuine people I know. He’s a great teacher, father, husband and all around person. I’m very grateful to have been able to experience his mentorship.

Mr. T has in no doubt created a lifelong impact as a teacher, coordinator, and mentor for myself and others. I have never met a teacher so passionate about their students success and wellbeing. I have first handedly witnessed his yearly commitment and dedication to our school’s Link Crew program and even had the privilege to work alongside him as a Team Lead. As coordinator, not only did he ensure our ideas could become a reality to bring academic, mental, and social support across our school, but he left a lifelong impact as a mentor along the way for every leader within our school. It’s because of his passions for mentoring and college/financial literacy that Mr. Tadesse has been able to ensure the smooth transitions for hundreds of students each year into our school while also aiding students to reach their fullest potentials and even go to their dream colleges, including myself. If there is one teacher that every student should have at least once, it’s Mr. Tadesse.
