Mr. Rivas is an incredibly fun teacher! His style of teaching engages students and challenges them to learn. Mr. Rivas is also very caring and supportive. His students know that they have an ally in him, and they know they can go to him for advice without being judged. Last year, as the Global Senate sponsor, he had the students go out and support all sports at Garfield High School.
"For my volleyball game, it was the first time we actually had a big crowd that did not include family," said a student. "Aside from his knowledge about history, he shares his life stories that allow us to connect and relate to each other. He changes lives and doesn't even know it. His advice has helped me become not only a better student, but also more aware of societal issues."
