Daneya Meyer was nominated by a friend, Kimberly Whitley.
"Daneya is one of a kind, a true gem! I had the pleasure of working with her for nine years in a different school district. She went out of her way to check on students and build relationships. She made children feel comfortable and gave them a safe place to escape whatever challenge they were facing," Whitley said.
Ms. Meyer's job extends outside of school, as well. Any time one of the students is hospitalized, she will make an effort to visit them. The students know her door is always open, as well as her heart.
"Daneya was a great outlet to her staff. She always gives them words of encouragement and often leaves treats in teachers' boxes. She pays attention to all the small details and makes sure to touch everyone's life she comes in contact with," Whitley said.
