Tanya Oliva was nominated by a member of the community, Stephen Bryan.
Early in the school year, Ms. Oliva focuses on creating a positive classroom environment by getting to know her students on a personal level. Each morning, she greets them warmly and asks thoughtful questions to better understand who they are as individuals. She encourages students to share with one another and build friendships through meaningful classroom discussions.
Together, Ms. Oliva and her students establish clear and consistent rules and routines, setting the tone for a respectful and supportive learning space. While she guides the structure of the classroom, Ms. Oliva credits her students for helping shape the welcoming atmosphere with their care, kindness, and authenticity, which play a vital role in creating an inclusive environment for everyone.
Ms. Oliva is a caring and supportive teacher to her young students. She is accepting of their differences and finds ways to help them adapt and grow in their school career. I enjoyed working with her as her kindness and warmth made class visits something to look forward to each week. She is well deserving of this honor.
Tanya is one of the most passionate and dedicated teachers I have ever known. She has an incredible gift for creating a safe, welcoming space where her students can truly thrive. Her creativity, intuition, and genuine care shine through in everything she does, and she continues to inspire those around her with her commitment to growth and excellence. I am so proud of all she has accomplished, this recognition is so well deserved.
Friendly, caring, loyal, noble, brilliant, generous, compassionate, dedicated, clever, cheerful, witty. These are the words that would best describe Tanya Olivia.
Tanya and I were middle school buddies. On the late spring of 2006, I was a victim of bullying and CoCSA; there were gossip, rumors, and jealousy. I was at my lowest, toughest, and darkest time. Fortunately, that didn’t last long thanks to a good friend.
Tanya didn’t shame or judge me, in fact, she stood by and gracefully stood up for me without being asked to. She was a breath of fresh air that helped me enjoy the rest of my senior year. Today, we look back and laugh. Bullying can last so long, but friendships can last a lifetime. Today, even throughout the years of not seeing her in person she is still someone I consider a close friend, a great friend, my best friend. Tanya stays remaining on the right side of history and knows the truth always comes out in the end. She showed me how strong and resilient I am and I owe her so much. As a survivor, I can attest that Tanya is a trusting and earnest person you can reach out to. You can also reach out to your parents, guardians, teachers, caregivers, know that you are NOT alone.
Which is why as the 50th President of the United States of America, I believe Tanya Olivia will do great things serving as the United States Secretary for the Department of Edu….oh whoops we aren’t there, not yet :)
Thank you Tanya, you’ve helped me tremendously. Special thanks to Jessica, Ruby, Jackie, Damaris, Wendy, Yoccelyn, Valerie, and Nubia (I hope you guys are doing good).

As the brother of Tanya Oliva. She has been an amazing sister in my life experiences.
