Emily Breviglia was nominated by the parent of a student, Alma Ayala.

Ms. Breviglia is an outstanding educator specializing in early literacy, holding a Master's degree in Education from SMU. Her passion for reading and phonics is evident in the high expectations she sets for her students. She adheres to the school curriculum and fosters engagement, ensuring that each child can thrive and achieve their personal best by monitoring their performance and addressing their individual needs.

Beyond the classroom, she has played a significant role on the Lighthouse Team, promoting the 'Leader in Me' program throughout the school, and has served as the grade-level chair for George H. W. Bush Elementary. From the beginning of the school year, Ms. Breviglia stands out through her eagerness and enthusiasm. She welcomes every parent and student with a genuine excitement that sets the tone for a positive and supportive classroom environment.

Throughout the year, she consistently creates opportunities for students to shine. By recognizing exemplary work with weekly rewards, she encourages academic excellence and celebrates effort. This work continues until the very last day of school. Each child receives a personal certificate, making them feel proud and recognizing their achievements in a meaningful way.

One of the many things that makes her special is how she makes every student feel seen and valued. She celebrates each student's birthday with classroom parties, going the extra mile to ensure that even "summer babies" are included in the fun before the school year ends. These thoughtful gestures demonstrate her genuine care for each student, extending beyond their academic performance.

Her passion extends beyond the classroom, as she builds strong relationships with parents through consistent communication. She works closely with families by creating a sense of community that brings parents together, leading to social opportunities for the children outside of school. She truly makes a community in a year.

Ms. Breviglia dedicates time and effort to crafting personalized yearbooks that feature classroom memories, as well as each student's growth and accomplishments. It's a beautiful and thoughtful gift that students can treasure for years to come.

"Ms. Breviglia's dedication and commitment support academic success and nurture students' confidence and personal development," said Ayala.

Emily Breviglia embodies the very qualities we hope to see in an outstanding teacher. She began her career in education unsure whether teaching was truly her path, but it didn’t take long for the inspiration she found in young children to guide her forward. Their curiosity, energy, and honesty sparked something in her and that has grown into the remarkable educator she is today. From the stories she has told me, I know that Emily has chosen to teach in a classroom where she doesn’t have access to every new material or resource, Classroom pictures tell the story that she never lets that limit her students’ experiences. Instead, she relies on creativity, resourcefulness, and imagination, transforming what she does have into meaningful learning opportunities. Where others might see limits, Emily sees possibilities. I know that she meets each day with openness, serving as a steady constant in her students’ lives. Her advocacy shows in the way she listens, responds, and shows up—always ready to give her best. Emily takes deep pride in the moments when she can spark joy and curiosity, pairing learning with laughter and helping her students feel seen, safe, and supported. I knew this when she told me about the tradition she has for birthday celebrations. Emily is a fierce teacher—not in volume or intensity, but in her unwavering dedication to teaching what matters and ensuring her students grow in every way they can. She pours herself into her work, and every child she teaches leaves an imprint on her heart. She carries them with her, honoring their stories and celebrating their progress long after they leave her classroom. These are the traits we want in our teachers: passion, resilience, creativity, compassion, and a heart that stays open. Emily Breviglia reflects all of them, making her an exceptional and deeply deserving nominee for this honor.

I have seen firsthand the dedication, care, and responsibility Emily shows for her students. From the time she spends during the summer preparing her classroom, to being there for the kids each and every day and not only being a teacher, but a friend and role model, to helping out colleagues and being there for them, she SHINES! What she does is incredibly impressive and admirable and I’m beyond proud.

Ms. Breviglia is such a wonderful caring soul. I’m so happy my son Marxel got to experience having her as his teacher. The way she cares for each and every single one of her students is just amazing. Rather it’s giving every one their own award for their accomplishments throughout the year, or throwing a special birthday party for each of the kiddos. She’s just great overall. My son was extremely sad she isn’t going to be his teacher anymore, but just knowing he’s still able to see her this year, is just heartwarming. That itself speaks wonders. Congratulations, Ms. Breviglia, you deserve it!
