Every day, Ms. Scott begins class with her classroom's mantra: "Today I will be the best version of me. I will do my part to make the world a better place to be." Her passion for teaching is deeply rooted in a desire to build a love of reading and lifelong learning. With over 20 years of experience teaching middle school ESL and ELAR, and a proven track record of enhancing student engagement, language proficiency, and STAAR performance, her dedication is truly evident.
Ms. Scott believes that when scholars discover the power of literacy, they unlock a world of possibilities. Through reading, they gain knowledge, the ability to see themselves in stories, and an understanding of perspectives beyond their own. She is committed to empowering scholars by fostering their confidence, helping them recognize their strengths, and equipping them with the skills they need to thrive academically and personally.
Ms. Scott strives to be an advocate for them, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued. Equally important is teaching scholars to advocate for themselves and others. By nurturing their sense of agency, she encourages them to be active participants in shaping their own futures and contributing to the world around them.
Outside of the classroom. Ms. Scott shows her dedication to the school as a whole. She is an award-winning sponsor of the SAVE Promise Club, recognized for her outstanding student leadership and community impact. She is a Spelling Bee Sponsor with regional finalists for two consecutive years, demonstrating a commitment to literacy enrichment beyond the classroom.
As a District Instructional Specialist (2020–2021), she provided professional development and curriculum support for secondary ELAR teachers. In her role as an LPAC Chair (2021–present), she ensures compliance with language proficiency assessments and advocates for the success of English learners. Ms. Scott has also received multiple awards throughout her career, including the Distinguished Teacher Review (DTR), Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA), and the 2024–2025 Campus Teacher of the Year and Dallas ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year Finalist.
