Courtney Hamilton was nominated by a friend, Derek McCord.
Ms. Hamilton loves her students and consistently goes above and beyond in her work with them. She works with students who have developmental challenges. She successfully helps them reach their full potential while creating a fun and accommodating learning environment where the children feel at ease being themselves. She genuinely cares for each student and quickly becomes one of their favorite teachers.
Her school even nominated her for the 24-25 Speech Language Pathologist of the Year Award for Wake County Public Schools. She's incredibly knowledgeable about her field and has a passion for it that is evident in her frequent discussions about her students and work.
"Courtney and I attended the same small group at church, and I was blessed to witness her amazing ability to connect with children when we attended a Super Bowl party for our small group," said McCord. "I was still new to the group and took my children with me, who had never met Courtney before. The girls (ages 11, 10, and 7) were all complaining on the way there that they didn't want to go. Within five minutes of being there, Courtney had them engaged, laughing, and talking with her at the table. She talked, played games with them, and had them laughing all night. On the ride home, they were talking about how much they loved Courtney and asking when they would get to see her again. Anyone who has children knows how hard it can be to get them to warm up to someone they don't know. I was absolutely amazed at how she was able to connect with them so quickly and have them feel right at home. She even recently took them to get their nails done with her, and they had a blast. Courtney is truly gifted when it comes to working with children, and it is evident immediately."
Courtney makes my child love coming to school and he is practicing at home what he learns at school. My son has a lot of energy and an even shorter attention span, but for some reason he’s consuming all her lessons. At home he claps his syllables and as a 3 year old 3 syllable words is pretty good. She makes him love learning and that’s amazing. I really hope she wins!!
Ms Courtney is a truly amazing teacher who is changing the trajectory of our little boys Max and Mylo with the therapy she provides. The boys love being taught by her which as a real endorsement of a truly special teacher.
Congratulations, Ms. Courtney! We are lucky to have you as part of the education team for my son, Daniel. When we met you for the first time, you were very approachable and attentive to our concerns. This was very reassuring that we are in the right path to make sure he continues to glow and grow!

This is my fifth year working with Courtney, and I only have praise for her as a colleague. She is extremely professional and organized with all of her students and processes. Also, she is one of the main people I go to whenever I want to add a little creative flair to anything. She truly has an eye for design and always has ideas about how to inject fun into any situation. Plus, all her students love coming to work with her, as they practically bound into her office. Finally, she is always kind and thoughtful to her fellow staff. I feel privileged to have the office next to hers because I get to see and hear all the amazing things she does every day!

I have worked with Courtney for almost 5 years at Green Hope ES. She is a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist who loves her kids. You can tell how much she cares by the meticulous planning and relationship building she has with all the students on her caseload. Outside of her role as a speech language pathologist, she is a supportive staff at the school. She will go above and beyond to assist any students who requires a little adult support. Courtney is an admiring person and I am lucky to have her as a friend and colleague.
I work as an SLP at another school in Wake County and I've met Courtney from this. She has always been so helpful in sharing ideas or providing advice on how to work with some challenging kiddos or just working in the school overall. I am so lucky to have her as colleague and mentor!
I work with Courtney and she truly works wonders with the kids at our school. She has an incredible way of reaching both her students as well as other students in the school who may need a little help or a kind word. I have seen the results first hand. I hope that other schools have someone who cares and helps students as much as Courtney does. We are so very lucky to have her.
