Katelynn Brewster was nominated anonymously.

Ms. Brewster is a certified RESA (Ohio Resident Educator Summative Assessment) mentor. She believes that a positive classroom environment starts on the first day of every school year. She spends time getting to know her students by first building a safe environment and giving them a voice through the co-creation of classroom expectations.

Once they have established their agreed-upon expectations, Ms. Brewster creates and implements activities that allow students to showcase their areas of interest, strengths, and even weaknesses. She prioritizes relationship building above all else. She strives to incorporate humor and joy into all that she does, ensuring that students feel welcome every single day. When issues arise, Ms. Brewster addresses them in a way that isn't embarrassing for students, but still holds them accountable for their choices.
