Ms. Norton places a strong emphasis on building self-confidence in her students every single day. She understands that when children feel seen, valued, and supported, they're more likely to thrive both academically and socially. In her classroom, positive reinforcement is constant and intentional, taking many forms, from quiet words of encouragement to public praise, celebratory stickers, and high-fives.
One of her most beloved strategies is allowing students to take on leadership roles or serve as classroom helpers, which fosters pride and ownership in their learning environment. She also keeps parents involved by communicating daily about student behavior, reinforcing a strong home-school connection. A standout part of her system is the "green ticket" reward program: students who have a great day receive a green ticket, and once ten are collected, they can choose a prize from the class treasure box. This practice is consistently celebrated by students and families alike.
Teamwork is another key value in her classroom. Students work together to earn class points for positive behaviors such as active listening and smooth transitions, essential life skills they begin developing early on. As a reward, the class ends each day with five minutes of fun, often dancing together to joyful videos that leave everyone smiling.
Through her structured and nurturing approach, Ms. Norton creates an environment where encouragement is constant, teamwork is celebrated, and every student can reach their highest potential.
