Monica Kelley was nominated by an anonymous colleague.

Mrs. Kelley is an awesome science teacher who challenges and exceeds with students who many think are "unteachable". She has a way of making her work relatable, engaging, and instrumental in students' lives. By the time they graduate, students appreciate her style of teaching.

She also shaved half her hair off about 2 years ago as a bet, when all of her sophomores passed a standardized test. She is active with her students and their class; she is the advisor for the class of 2020 and is always cheering with them at the pep rallies and volunteering to play and have fun at the pep rally games. That's why she's a LifeChanger in Lytle ISD!

She embraces any opportunity to learn from fellow coworkers and professionals so she can provide her students with adequate and enriched lessons. She has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially her students. I speak as a parent in support of Mrs. Kelley and her devotion to the education of my daughter. Mrs. Kelley was Camryn's ninth-grade Biology teacher. Suprisingly, my daughter has never been motivated in the classroom. She is a good student, but her passions/interests have always seemed to fall into the non-academic realm. I can remember in the fall of 2016, at least a dozen times, where she would gripe and complain about assignments, exams, and activities that originated from Mrs. Kelley's class. It became almost comical when the complaints started to become praise. The "I can't believe we have to ..." transitioned to "Wow, this is what we are doing". There were too many times to mention that Camryn would announce at the dinner table that she, "freakin' LOVES Mrs. Kelley". This makes me smile because I see Mrs. Kelley as being all business, no nonsence, and focused on the task at hand. I have first-hand experience that Mrs. Kelley is a Lifechanger because sometime during that ninth grade year, Monica convinced my daughter that she is smart, classroom worthy, and able to achieve her dreams. On a side note, Camryn has a small box in her room that she calls her treasure chest. This box holds such things as a bird's nest, her playbills from drama events, her first love letter, and other items that she holds dear. Imagine my suprise when I find (because I peek at such things) her interactive biology composition notebook nestled at the bottom of the chest. Thank you, Mrs. Kelley, for a job very well done.

Monica is an amazing teacher who gives her all to EVERY student. I had the pleasure of working with Monica as she taught my students with disabilities. In my 11 years she was the only teacher to provide tutoring to my students during her conference. She always went above and beyond in supporting these students and believed in them. She always saw their ability and never expected less of them. She got the students to work hard, and students will always say she is one of their favorite teachers as they felt they really learned her content. She is the kind of teacher we should all strive to be:)

Monica Kelley is an outstanding teacher. Her passion for her content is evident in everything she does. She goes the extra mile for her students often offering additional tutoring during her lunchtime or in the hallways on days she has duty. She builds relationships with students. These relationships help her as she pushes her students hard in her class. Yet they know they will be better students because of her. They respect her for that. Mrs. Kelley arrives at school early, beating administration and custodians to work most days. She voluntarily attends extra- curricular events to show her support for her students. Mrs. Kelley also has a fun side. She eagerly volunteers to participate in student vs. faculty games at pep rallies and works to pump up her class in spirit yells. Mrs. Kelley is dedicated to her craft and has a tremendous work ethic. She is very deserving of the nomination.

It is my privilege to share my admiration for one of our teachers here at Lytle High School, Monica Kelley. Monica is a dynamic and energetic teacher who holds high expectations for herself and her students. In the classroom she challenges students to think beyond the daily lesson and make connections to their lives. Monica works hard to ensure each student is successful and will spend many hours supporting their efforts before, during and after school. Monica has become an integral piece of design at Lytle High School by organizing field trips, volunteering as a class sponsor and showing leadership among her peers. I am lucky to work alongside this exceptional educator as she makes a positive impact in education.

I worked with Monica at a previous school. She became a respected coworker and friend. As a new teacher I admired her work ethic that I modeled myself after. Being that she was the first and last to leave. She takes the time to counsel students, teachers, and parents no matter what time of day. Her door was always opened for anyone who had questions. My first day as a teacher she took the time to find out if I needed help. From the day she checked on me the entire year no matter how business she was. I treasure the time she took to help me. It made my first year easier. And for that I appreciate and respect her. I know she has done the same for her students. She defines the word teacher. She is someone who has gone above and beyond her duty as a teacher. The dedication, passion, and work ethic she has shown to her students is notable to be honored.

I worked with Monica at a previous school several years ago. I respected and admired her more than anyone else at that school. She had a work ethic, passion, and attention to detail that could not be matched. Even to this day, I like to model myself after Monica because I know there is no higher standard when it comes to those attributes. She was always the first to arrive and last to leave because she loves her job that much. She was respected by everyone at the school. I am confident she continues exemplifying these traits at her current position in Lytle. I am not surprised that she was nominated for this honor because she absolutely deserves it. Her love to teach young minds has, and will continue, to change lives.

Monica Kelley is such an amazing wife, friend, daughter, niece, and teacher. Someone who is dedicated to her career and goes above and beyond for her students. Someone who keeps her word as in when she shaved half of her head when kids passed their test. She also was committed to helping students put together prom her first year at a new school. In this whole time keeping herself together while almost losing her dad and traveling back and forth out of town for dad’s appointments. Then still stays strong while an aunt got breast cancer. This is why I nominate Monica Kelley from Little isd because she is strong, humble, and will go above and beyond for students while leaving her personal issues at the door of the school.

I am twice blessed as I can speak from experience as to Monica’s passion for teaching. First as her husband, I see her devotion and tireless efforts to inspire her students to always achieve, always strive to do their best and secondly, as a former fellow educator of her, I have witnessed firsthand her innovative and creative teaching style that has consistently yielded superior student performance levels year in and year out. Each week, Monica shows up first on her campus so she will have the time to develop, tailor and prepare lessons that are the perfect blend of appropriate pace and level of difficultly for her students. As well, I’ve seen her adjust and retool her teaching when students appear to struggle to fully grasp the content. Bottom line, she refuses to accept failure when it comes to her students' learning. Furthermore, she is fully invested in supporting her students by attending their performances, games and out-of-school activities. In all of my 30-plus years in education, I have never seen anyone more attuned to her students’ educational needs than Monica. She is the finest teacher I have ever had the pleasure to work alongside!
