Brittany Gregory was nominated anonymously.

In Ms. Gregory's intervention classroom at Wilmington Middle School, she focuses on creating a positive, supportive environment where all students feel safe, valued, and capable of success. She works with students with mild to moderate disabilities, and her goal is to foster both academic growth and social-emotional confidence. She creates a structured classroom routine, which helps students feel secure and understand what's expected of them.

Ms. Gregory uses clear instructions and consistent expectations to reduce anxiety and support independence. She builds strong relationships with each student by getting to know their strengths, interests, and needs. She celebrates their successes—big and small—and provides frequent encouragement and feedback to build self-esteem and motivation.

She differentiates instruction and materials to meet students at their current level and provide accommodations and modifications as needed. She incorporates hands-on activities, technology, and multisensory learning strategies to engage learners and make content more accessible. She always tries to teach and model positive behavior and social skills through direct instruction.

She uses restorative practices and calm-down tools to help students manage challenges and build self-regulation skills. These practices create a classroom where students feel supported, respected, and empowered to grow both academically and personally.

While she is early in her teaching career, she has already had the privilege of making a substantial impact as an Intervention Specialist at Wilmington Middle School. Last year, she supported a group of 6th-grade students. Through differentiated instruction, positive behavior support, and relationship-building, she helped students make meaningful academic progress and grow in their confidence and independence.

This school year, she is transitioning to support 8th-grade students. She views this as an exciting opportunity to continue growing professionally while helping older students build essential academic and life skills as they prepare for high school. In addition to her classroom responsibilities, she also serves as the Assistant Cheerleading Coach at Wilmington High School, where she helps promote school spirit and mentor student-athletes.

Though early in her career, she is deeply committed to her students and to creating an inclusive, empowering classroom environment. She is eager to continue developing as an educator and making a lasting impact on the lives of every one of her students.
