Ms. Ricketts creates a positive classroom environment by prioritizing meaningful relationships with each of her students. She understands that connection looks different for every learner, whether it’s bonding over a favorite artist or athlete, or simply checking in with students about their weekends and making sure they feel heard. These everyday interactions help students feel seen, valued, and respected.

As a middle school teacher who has the unique opportunity to teach some students across all three years of their journey, Ms. Ricketts fosters a strong sense of community and belonging in her classroom. Over time, her classroom not only becomes a place to learn, but a small family where students know they are wanted, supported, and safe.

Ms. Ricketts is especially committed to helping her struggling math students build confidence. She normalizes mistakes as part of the learning process and reminds students that growth comes from persistence and reflection. Her students know she will meet them wherever they are academically and work alongside them to improve their skills. Through consistent encouragement, patience, and high expectations, Ms. Ricketts ensures that every student feels capable of success.
