Creating a positive classroom environment starts with intentionally designing a space where students feel safe, valued, and respected. At the beginning of the year, Ms. Haynes establishes clear expectations and routines so students know what's expected and can thrive in a structured, predictable environment. She also focuses on building genuine relationships with students.

Ms. Haynes makes an effort to learn about their interests, backgrounds, and goals, and she uses that knowledge to create lessons and discussions that feel relevant and meaningful. For example, in her Business Communications class, she designs real-world projects, discussions, and warm-ups that connect to students' future careers and everyday life. This not only keeps them engaged, but shows them she cares about their success beyond the classroom.

Ms. Haynes actively encourages student voice and collaboration by incorporating group work, peer feedback, and open dialogue. She holds conferences with students and families when needed to discuss challenges and celebrate successes, reinforcing that her classroom is a partnership focused on growth. Leveraging her strengths in Connectedness, Restorative, and Positivity, she works to create an inclusive atmosphere where mistakes are seen as opportunities to learn rather than setbacks.

Ms. Haynes guides students in resolving conflicts respectfully and helps them see how their unique contributions matter to the class community. Beyond academics, she also brings in moments of encouragement, humor, and reflection to keep the environment uplifting and supportive. Whether it's starting the day with an inspiring quote, sharing real-world success stories, or simply checking in on how students are feeling, she strives to make her classroom a space where students feel motivated to show up as their best selves. Overall, her approach blends structure with empathy, real-world connection with encouragement, and high expectations with genuine care — all to ensure every student feels empowered, respected, and ready to learn.

Ms. Haynes teaches at a Title I school where the majority of her students are economically disadvantaged and often come to class without the basic supplies they need to be successful. Many families face difficult circumstances, so she does everything she can to make sure every student feels supported and prepared. She personally provides pencils, pens, highlighters, erasers, binders, and notebooks for note-taking for all her students. This ensures that everyone has what they need for the entire school year — so no student feels left out or embarrassed because they don't have the right materials.

Beyond academic supplies, she also keeps small hygiene kits available in her classroom for students to use during the first or last 15 minutes of class. These kits include pads, fragrance-free wipes, travel-size hair products, deodorant spray, lotion, shower wipes, and mini perfume/cologne sprays. She does this because some of her students face challenging living situations and may not have consistent access to these basic items at home.

Her goal is for every student to feel confident and present themselves in the best way possible. When students feel good about themselves, they're more likely to show up, participate, and take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way. By meeting their basic needs, she can remove barriers that might otherwise distract them from learning or impact their self-esteem.

What stands out most about her is that she doesn’t just teach—she pours into every student she interacts with. Whether it’s helping a struggling student find direction, encouraging parents, or supporting her coworkers, Jenora shows up with a level of care and consistency that is rare. She brings positivity into every room, and her energy inspires others to do better. Outside of education, Jenora is also an entrepreneur who started her own fashion line, Incassable. I’ve watched her build a positive learning environment from the ground up, leading with structure, empathy, and a genuine commitment to her students’ well-being. She learns about her students’ interests and goals and uses that knowledge to design meaningful, real-world lessons that help them see their own potential. Ms. Haynes is a wonderful person you can tell when she teaches she’s not just doing her job but she cares if you understand or not she does her best to translate for students who don’t speak English she includes them the best that she can even though she is just a teacher she does more then what she is required to do she communicates and understands people she helps out as much as she can she gives as much as she can I have never met a teacher that actually seems like they like kids and their job but can also not lose the sight that even though we are students we are people as well she gives us a voice but also teaches us how to use our own the right and respectful way if Ms. Haynes was never the person she is and didn’t care I would of dropped out of high school a while ago.

Ms Haynes is a great person, she was a teacher when I graduated a couple years ago. My brother was following kids he shouldn’t have and was thinking for himself. As his teacher and advisor she completely turned his life around showing him the outcome of his actions and the talents he had could be used in business. Now he is about to graduate Sam Houston with a major in business and an internship at Nike.
