Mr. McGreer is a dedicated special education teacher who places creating a positive classroom environment at the center of his work. With over two decades of experience teaching sixth-grade in a low-income public school district, he understands that structure, strong relationships, and emotional safety are essential for helping students with diverse needs succeed. In his classroom, Mr. McGreer implements predictable routines and visual schedules that offer the consistency many of his students, some of whom face trauma, learning challenges, or unstable home lives, rely on to feel secure.

He builds meaningful relationships by greeting each student by name, using humor to connect, and checking in individually to ensure every child feels seen, valued, and supported. Mr. McGreer teaches and models emotional regulation through calm-down spaces, social stories, and mindfulness strategies, equipping students with practical tools to manage frustration and anxiety. He maintains clear, simple behavior expectations and focuses on positive reinforcement, aiming for at least four praise statements for every redirection, to create a safe and encouraging environment.

His classroom is accessible and flexible, featuring sensory tools, anchor charts, and student-centered choices that allow all learners to engage meaningfully at their level. He celebrates small victories and encourages student voice through "show what you know" moments that build confidence and foster community. Mr. McGreer also prioritizes strong communication with families, regularly sharing successes and listening carefully to parents' insights about what works best for their children.
