Shelley Bowyer was nominated anonymously.

Ms. Bowyer creates a positive classroom environment by building strong relationships with her students. She takes pride in getting to know her students and their families, especially since she often has several siblings from the same families. She attends many outside-of-school events in which her students participate, including sports, music, theater, etc.

In her classroom, she also provides students with many of the basic nonacademic necessities they need but may not have access to at home, including personal hygiene products and food items from the Care Closet. These items help students focus on learning by filling the gaps for these necessities.

Ms. Bowyer has worked with Gifted students for all of her 22 years as an educator, spending the last 18 years as a licensed gifted intervention specialist. She has served on various building and district-level committees and was previously awarded Outstanding Educator and Pillar of Excellence Awards by the district.
