As a special education teacher, Ms. Beaver creates a positive classroom environment by building strong, trusting relationships with her students and celebrating their unique strengths. She greets each child with warmth and makes sure their routines are consistent and predictable, using visual schedules and clear expectations to help reduce anxiety. She focuses on creating a safe, structured space where every student feels seen, heard, and supported—emotionally, academically, and socially.

Ms. Beaver uses positive reinforcement, offers choices to promote independence, and supports all forms of communication, including nonverbal methods like gestures and picture cues. She collaborates closely with families, paraprofessionals, and specialists to ensure consistency and growth. Most importantly, she leads with patience, compassion, and joy because when students feel safe and valued, authentic learning and connection can happen.

Ms. Beaver has 21 years of dedicated teaching experience. She has successfully taught diverse student populations, including general education and special education, across multiple grade levels (2nd–4th) with a focus on inclusion and accessibility. She also established and currently leads a Functional Living Skills (FLS) classroom, adapting academic content to meet the needs of students functioning at a kindergarten level with various intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Ms. Beaver creates individualized education plans (IEPs) that align with TEKS and promote student growth. She maintains 100% compliance with IEP timelines, documentation, and progress monitoring. She has implemented digital tools such as Boom Cards, TEACCH strategies, and visual scheduling software to enhance student engagement and support alternative communication. She has also developed modified lesson plans for students with ADD, defiance disorder, and anxiety in both in-person and virtual learning environments. 

Outside the classroom, Ms. Beaver serves on the School Advisory Board and actively participates in educational planning, advocacy, and community engagement. She fosters strong relationships with parents through consistent communication, family involvement initiatives, and community-based instruction. Finally, she mentors new teachers and collaborates with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure inclusive practices and student success.

Having the privilege of working alongside Ms. Beaver as a teacher’s assistant in Arlington ISD was an experience that left a lasting impact on me. Congrats Momma B, A former student at DeSoto High School, having Ms. Beaver as my teacher was one of the greatest blessings of my educational journey. She was far more than an instructor, she was like a second mother to me. To this day I keep in touch with her and even attended her Alma Mater Texas Southern University so that I could study education and be a great teacher just like her.

During one of the most challenging times of my life, when I was a teen mom trying to balance school and caring for my son, she stepped in with unwavering support. I must start by saying congratulations. Ms. Beaver was my teacher when I attended DeSoto High School, and she was like a second mother to me. I’ve had the honor of collaborating and working with Ms. Beaver in education. I’ve witnessed her advocate tirelessly and do whatever it takes to ensure scholar success. She builds meaningful relationships with parents and keeps communication consistent. She is a true light to work with—always willing to support any teacher or colleague in need. I meet Ms. Beaver back in 2018 at a Dallas ISD school where I was her teacher assistant. Ms. Beaver was a great help to me because I never worked in a specialized unit before just infant and toddlers. Ms. Beaver was a excellent mentor to me and whenever I was in doubt she assured I was doing a good job with the students. Ms. Beaver inspired me to do more with my career so I enrolled in an alternative to teach and inspire our students.
