Laura Nye was nominated anonymously.

Ms. Nye creates a positive classroom environment by fostering a sense of community, safety, and respect. She focuses on building strong relationships with her students and their parents. She encourages kindness and collaboration, and she sets clear, consistent expectations. She integrates social-emotional learning to help students manage emotions and resolve conflicts. She also celebrates their successes to boost confidence and motivation. Her goal is to enhance the classroom environment further through flexible seating, calming tools, and engaging hands-on materials that support both academic growth and emotional well-being.

Ms. Nye is the the first teacher in Columbia County to have a student skip the first grade. One of her first grade students published their own book and had it sent in to the local newspaper. The paper did an article about it! She was chosen to be the Related Arts Lead teacher after her second year of teaching at a new school, in a new state.
