It's not every day you come across someone like Ms. Auman - a teacher whose passion lights up every room and stage she's in. As the 2024 District Teacher of the Year for Darlington County, Ms. Auman has shown what it truly means to lead with heart, creativity, and commitment. At Hartsville High School, she's not only a dance teacher, but a mentor, motivator, and guiding light for her students. Through the art of dance, Ms. Auman helps young people express themselves, build confidence, and find community. Her classroom is a safe space where discipline meets joy, and every student is seen, heard, and inspired.
"Darlington County is lucky to have her, and so are the students who get to learn from someone who not only teaches, but transforms lives," said Padgett.
Ms. Tracee will forever be one of our favorite dance teachers. She helped my child learn and love hip hop and ballet last year. She is also a bright light in our community, and all of her efforts are so appreciated.
I have had the privilege of working with Tracee for 8 years now. When I first went to HHS she was the technology person. She worked with our old superintendent and principal to bring dance to HHS. It has been a joy to watch her grow these past years. She goes above and beyond in everything she does. HHS is so lucky to have her.
Ms. Auman is generous, inspiring, and encouraging for all of her students. She want them to prosper in life, to thrive in their own frequencies that they feel suited for. It's one thing to just teach and demonstrate, but it's another thing to do not just that but guide, instruct, and try to reason with the student so that they can perform their best, that takes an expansive amount of will and dedication. That's why I will take the time to support her as she has supported me, not just me but many other that I've seen. Ms.Auman will always be an inspiration to me to want to be a better knowledgeable, kind, and resilient person after each day. Tracee Auman is one of the most passionate teachers I know. She genuinely cares about her students and teaching them the beauty of dance. She pushes you to be the best you can!
Ms. Auman is incredibly kind and genuinely cares for her students she is truly the best teacher one could hope for. Ms. Auman is a great educator who dedicates her time to us. Thank you for being such an outstanding teacher I truly appreciate your patience with me and the entire class. Ms. Auman inspires me in numerous ways! She consistently encourages me to persevere. All she wants is for me to give my best effort, and she is genuinely assisting me.
Ms. Auman is a wonderful teacher !! she is patient , calm , nice , a great listener , she not only just an teacher shes a friend when you also need someone to lean on shes so many good positive things in one because she helped me grow alot before i met her , to now being the new person ive became . Shes the best of best . she deserves every award in life !! :)
Teaching is about helping and improving our school community, and that is what Ms. Auman personifies.
Firstly, in addition to teaching dance and providing students a way to express themselves through the arts, Ms. Auman sponsors the National Honor Dance Society chapter. Through this extracurricular activity, students have to perform service hours. In addition, students can gain leadership experience. So not only does the student benefit from having access to another extracurricular activity, but the community benefits by having students working outside of the school to earn their service hours.
Secondly, Ms. Auman goes beyond the roles and responsibilities of what she is assigned to do. Ms. Auman assists with teacher climate by serving as lead of the Morale Committee. This committee provides teachers with reminders of appreciation.
Thirdly, Ms. Auman promotes our school via social media. She updates the school’s Facebook and TikTok page. Since social media is one of the fastest ways to reach the school community, regularly updating the social media pages allows for the community to see what our students, faculty, and staff do in academics and the arts, and Ms. Auman’s work aids in this endeavor.
Teaching is more than what happens when the first bell rings to the last bell of the school day. It is also about what someone is cheerfully willing to do for the school community, and Ms. Auman works diligently to improve our school community because that is who she is.
Ms Auman is a great teacher and also a great person in general, anytime you see her she will always have a smile on her face no matter the situation or type of day she is having. Anyone who has or had Ms Auman as a teacher would say the same things, she creates a safe and happy environment in dance everyday. She has inspired me to do dance and now this is my second year doing it and i will
continue to do it for as long as i can, She supports you no matter what and pushes you to do better and tell you to never give up and you always have to try no matter what. Ms Auman is most definitely the person that deserves this position the most. It will be a great opportunity for her and for her to represent Hartsville High School.
First I would just like to say, Mrs. Auman is a wonderful teacher. She helps us with any and everything. She is always there for us. While some don't like her because she pushes us to do our best. I feel she a amazing person and teacher!!!
Tracee is always involved at HHS doing whatever she can to support everyone at HHS. She is a great colleague and friend!
Mrs. Auman is a wonderful teacher who exemplifies the message we strive to follow every day at our school: "good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is best". Mrs. Auman is always evolving into becoming an integral educator that incorporates cultural aspects of learning in her lessons which projects the positive of the intercultural encounters we experience every day at our school. As an international teacher, I celebrate Mrs. Auman as a caring teacher who strives to promote respect towards diversity and values the many cultural connections students could explore through learning to and about dance.
Miss Auman spreads a positive aura in her interactions with her colleagues. She successfully conducts many community events that benefit students, parents, and other members of the school family. Her dance classes extend beyond the classroom walls, using the art form as a tool for social change and charity activities. Her collaboration with the school drama club in the production of Peter Pan was a heartfelt success. The dance marathon program for fundraising was a great event. By incorporating participation from both students and teachers, Miss Auman’s events help enhance interpersonal relationships among all members of the school community.
I have known Mrs. Tracie sense I have been little and she has always been a great rolemodel in my life. My first day at Hartsville she went out of her way to make sure I was having a good day. She is a great teacher who truely cares about her students.

Her professionalism is evident in every aspect of her work, and she further demonstrates her commitment to the field by holding a position within SCHAPHERD (South Carolina Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance.
Tracee has done such a wonderful job with the dance program at Hartsville High School. Her class dance shows at the end of each semester are so great to watch and show how much these students learn throughout a semester. She is also willing to help with anything that is going on at the school and is always extremely positive each day she is at work.
Tracee Auman has built the dance program from the ground up at Hartsville High. Each year her Dance Honor Society continues to grow and her students seem to love every minute of it. Beyond the classroom, Ms. Auman supports all aspects of Hartsville High. She is true Red Fox and a dedicated educator!
Tracee is such a blessing to have as our school's Dance teacher. She is a dedicated educator and loves what she does! The students have a fun, structured, and safe space to explore movement, expression, and emotions. She always comes up with great ideas and new things for students to get involved and learn best. She also dedicates a lot of her time to helping in other areas on campus, other classes, and student activities.
Ms. Auman played a crucial role in my successful transition as a new teacher to our school and community. At the time I started teaching in Hartsville, she was serving our school as a technology support person. Her assistance, however, went far beyond the requirements of her job. Her kindness and frequent check-ins were integral in my success as a teacher. Ms. Auman was not just a friendly face; she was a vital support system.
Several years later, when Ms. Auman became a dance teacher, my daughter had the privilege of taking one of her classes. She didn’t just teach her dance, she taught her science, body kinesthetics, English, history, and so much more. She became a trusted mentor, extending her support beyond the classroom and building a lasting relationship with my child. She inspired her to become involved outside of the classroom in organizations such as the Dance Honors Society, Dance-Marathon, and the school musical; all activities that Ms. Auman had either brought to our school or run as a faculty member.
Ms. Auman's impact transcends the walls of her classroom. She is integral to our school's heart, boosting morale withing the building. She collaborates with outside entities to provide lunches, snacks, and beverages to teachers and staff. She organizes graduation, choreographs the school musical, supports and volunteers with the athletic department, and participates in countless other events within the school and community.
Every day, Ms. Auman positively impacts the lives of students, staff, and our community and is most deserving of the honor of LifeChanger of the Year.
Tracee Auman is by far the best teacher I’ve ever had. She has so much compassion and love for every single one of her students and is an amazing teacher. She continues to research and take classes to learn more about dance for the benefit of her students. I very much believe out of any of the teachers miss Auman is the most dedicated teacher I know.
Tracee has been such a giving and caring teacher to students for many years. She has compassion for each one of "her kids" but holds them to a high standard that she knows they can achieve. She teaches each student with her whole heart and it shows through each of her students. She leads her colleagues with enthusiasm in all events while maintaining a great work relationship with everyone around her. She directs events with professionalism, organization, and grace. Mrs. Auman is a great teacher. She he worked to make dance an integral part of HHS, grown the IB dance program, and started a chapter of the National Dance Honor Society at HHS!
Tracee is willing to help out with anything the school is doing. She is 100% dedicated to the students and works extremely hard to help make sure they have a great High School experience. You can not go to a HHS event and not see Tracee there, either running the event, or showing her support for the students.
