Ms. Nelson is a true dedicated teacher to all students within her reach. She's not only concerned about the students academic life but their family life as well; on numerous occasions I have seen Ms. Nelson stop to speak with a student who may be in distress to find out if she could be of assistance to them. Then there's her passion for teaching and reaching the students, she will have the students sit in a circle to help ease the tension of learning giving them a relaxed atmosphere. She constantly tell her students to think and not just put down an answer. Ms. Nelson is a kind, caring, and passionate teacher who gives her very best to each student.

Hi! I’ve known Lisa for over 10 years. From the initial conversation, I could tell that Lisa was called to be a teacher. It’s may sound funny but I want to believe that I was one of her first student. One day during our conversation, she asked could we study the bobble together? To my surprise, it was really a class of co-students, Lisa began to teach. I was so taken a back that I called her out on it. I was sitting there, and Lisa was just explaining away. She did so well, soon other adults were joining the class. Though it was not officially said, unanimously voted on, neither directly appointed. Lisa just stepped into the position of the class’s teacher. This meeting eventually became one we were hungry for. Though not said, attendees would join just sit there waiting for the teacher to show up. Next Sis Lisa, as she was affectionately called, would at some point around the time when the word was about to begin, you would see her going from bench to bench, becoming to the children under 10 to follow her the the back of the building where she would conduct a children’s class. Sister Lisa, is not a trained teacher, though, now I know currently , she is. If one would have asked me, I would say, Lisa is called from birth to be a teacher. She was absolutely born for this purpose and I am sure it’s evident among her peers as well as those whom she comes in contact with. There’s no way anyone could meet her twice or three times no matter how short, and not seen a teacher in her. May I say it again, Lisa is born a teacher! She could have done nothing else but being a teacher. I bet all my money on that. That’s how much I’m sure that teaching is her calling, and will forever be her profession. I see her in no other field but teaching.

I've known Lena since we began high school together, and even then, it was clear she had a natural gift and a true passion for teaching (especially in math). Over the years, she has honed that talent into something extraordinary. Today, she is an exceptional third-grade teacher whose enthusiasm is both inspiring and contagious. Her students are lucky to have her, and her impact in the classroom is nothing short of a blessing. I’m proud to cast my vote for her as Teacher of the Year. She has truly earned this recognition, and it would be more than well deserved.
