Her classroom includes comfortable seating options that support focus and flexibility, such as floor cushions and cozy reading chairs. She created a dedicated reading corner to encourage literacy and quiet reflection, an art center for creative expression and emotional regulation, and a mini computer lab where students can access educational technology, practice digital skills, and engage in interactive learning.

In addition to the physical space, she builds a positive environment through strong relationships and a consistent, respectful classroom culture. She greets her students daily, celebrates their successes—big or small—and models empathy, patience, and kindness. She uses visual supports, calming tools, and offers choices to promote independence and self-regulation.

By honoring individual needs and encouraging collaboration, she helps students take ownership of their learning and behavior. Ultimately, she aims to create a space where students feel safe to be themselves, take risks, and grow both academically and socially.

Career Accomplishments:

  • Earned a Master's degree in Special Education and is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree in Special Education to advance her expertise in supporting diverse learners.
  • Progressed professionally from a co-teacher to a small group teacher, allowing for more targeted instruction and individualized support for students with exceptional needs.
  • Promoted from Assistant Girls Track Coach to Head Varsity Tennis Coach for both the boys and girls teams, demonstrating leadership, commitment, and the ability to motivate and guide student-athletes.
  • Serves as the advisor of Razor Chic Ladies, a mentoring group for young girls. In this role, she has built strong partnerships with local organizations and businesses. She has also led numerous community service programs that promote leadership, self-esteem, and civic engagement among her students.

Mrs. Coleman is a teacher is who dedicated to the success of her students. She incorporates life lessons into each subject. Outside of the classroom she remains an advocate for the success of the students. Students approach her with delight in and outside of the regular school hours. She manages to continue her own learning by pursuing advance studies as a professional in education. She has a personality that is contagious to her fellow constituents as well while maintaining an admirable level of professionalism.
