I’m so not surprised Angelia Venero received this nomination. I met her about 15 years ago at the elementary school I teach at. She was always so positive, calm, and loving with her students. She works extremely hard to make a safe and accepting classroom environment where all of her students are seen and heard. Her heart for teaching makes her an asset at any school. Angelia spreads her kindness to everyone she meets and truly changes lives.

Ms. Venero was truly one of a kind. She was my daughter’s 3rd-grade teacher, and I can honestly say she played such a big role in shaping my daughter’s love for learning. More than just being an amazing teacher academically, Ms. Venero has this rare gift of making every student feel seen, valued, and truly cared for. She created a classroom where my daughter felt welcome, supported, and encouraged to be her best self. Now, as a senior at UC San Diego, it’s clear that the confidence and passion for learning Ms. Venero helped spark in 3rd grade has carried my daughter through all these years. To this day, Ms. Venero is still one of her biggest supporters. We’re so grateful for the care she gave, and I’ll always consider her a major part of my daughter’s journey. Thank you, Ms. Venero!

As the school counselor, I’ve had the privilege of seeing Ms. Venero’s classroom in action, and it is truly an example of what a positive learning environment should be. She provides structure and high expectations, and her students rise to meet them because they know she cares deeply about their success. From the moment students are greeted at her door, they are welcomed into a space that feels safe, warm, and filled with belonging. Her classroom is full of student work, positive messages, and a sense of community where every child has a role and a purpose. The balance she maintains between holding students accountable and showing them genuine care allows them to thrive both academically and socially. Ms. Venero’s classroom is more than just a place for academics—it’s a place where students feel seen, respected, and empowered to grow.
