Ms. Jones knows her students carry the weight of the world sometimes: jobs, family responsibilities, college stress, or simply trying to figure out who they are. She makes it her mission to create a classroom that not only teaches Economics and Personal Finance, but also feels like a safe, respectful, and loving space—especially in a rural setting where resources and support systems aren’t always within reach. Inclusivity is at the heart of her classroom. No matter a student's background, learning style, or personal identity, they are seen, valued, and supported. She greets them with a warm “Good morning,” checks in on their mental space as much as their academic progress, and encourages them to ask questions without fear of being judged. She reminds them that making mistakes—financial or otherwise—is a part of life and learning. They laugh, reflect, and keep it real. Because when kids feel emotionally safe, they're more open to learning the things that will actually shape their future.
Ms.Jones is an incredible teacher who keeps the class engaged and makes sure it’s a safe space where all feel comfortable, she teaches the important lessons that we will need later in life in a way that’s easy to remember even when you leave her classroom and she’s always willing to help and listen and give amazing advice.
Ms. Jones is not only an amazing collegue, but she has also been my daughter's teacher for two different courses and is easily one of the best teachers she has ever had. Her lessons are engaging and relevant to what these young adults need to be prepared for the real world. In addition to her top notch lessons, she is always willing to lend an ear to her students. She is simply the best and well deserving of this recognition!
