I have seen Mr. Webb work with students at 2 different school sites and I personally witnessed him interacting with pupils in such a way that they feel empowered and uplifted. I've also seen children gravitate to him and ask for advice about personal matters; it's exceedingly obvious that they trust him and depend on his counsel to help better their lives. To see him positively affect so many black and brown youth, at the school he graduated from no less Raymond Avenue, I consider him as a boon to his campus. He exemplifies the conflict resolution skills he embues students with, by the way he carries himself, and remaining cool under pressure. The campus operates better because of him.

Where do I start? When I first met Mr. Webb a few years ago, as my child began attending Raymond Avenue Elementary, he welcomed my son with open arms. From the very beginning, Mr. Webb has been respectful, caring, and incredibly helpful. The list truly goes on. He has been the same amazing person since day one. It’s always a joy to see him, especially watching how the students light up whenever he’s around the school. He consistently goes above and beyond for both the children and the parents, and for that, I will forever respect and appreciate Mr. Webb.

Congratulations on your nomination for the Life Changer of the Year Award! I personally think you deserve this award because you have really resonated with the community, students, and staff here at Raymond Avenue by reaching out to everyone in many ways. I’ve noticed how comfortable parents are now in coming up to you. It appears they feel they can discuss any topic with you as you would a friend and I hear positive remarks about your impact in their kids’ sports. Other times I hear you laughing about how games went and who did what. Most commonly, I hear the question,” How did my child do today?” And of course, I cannot help but hear your name being shouted out as they walk or drive by during dismissal time at the kindergarten gate. More importantly, you have brought joy to all our students. I know my students are looking for you to say hello. You’ve also given them the confidence in themselves as you have counseled some of them in the past, and now they feel valued by your friendship. I have come to realize that your presence is especially important for our students, particularly because you’re a male figure that some children do not have at home. Our staff is grateful to you, but personally, I appreciate you for the collaborative enthusiasm you bring to our classrooms and in the yard. You’ve made a significant impact on our campus and community since you arrived at Raymond Avenue, thank you! I truly appreciate being considered for writing this letter for you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can provide for you as we anticipate the decision process.

His caring relationships with students create a sense of trust and belonging, filling a void in so many of their lives. You can see the impact he has the moment he walks into a room; the students’ faces light up with genuine joy and admiration. “Mr. Webb!” they shout with joy as they run up to give him a big hug. He transforms the atmosphere as soon as he walks into a room. His patience, kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping others make him not only an exceptional educator but also a truly irreplaceable part of the larger community.

What an honor it is to support Floyd Webb as life changer of the year. It is impossible to truly account for how much positive impact Mr. Webb is directly responsible for in his and in life in general. At his school his relentless positivity and patience combined with a high level of care and expectations helps even high needs students have a much higher chance of success. He tells the stories of his children and you have to pay very close attention to make note of the challenges that students often present because he only speaks about his students with the utmost respect and tenderness. He is able to work with challenging and struggling parents and I even personally have seen him diffuse tense situations between parents and staff members who may not have the relationships that Mr. Webb has fostered. He has put the time and work in creating relationships with students and parents that allow him to diffuse situations when parents are frustrated and escalated. Some other really tangible steps he has taken to be a change maker are sponsoring at risk students to go sports camps, putting on events for parents and even specifically for fathers who often feel excluded from the school community. His Donuts for Dads events break records for attendance every year. He also celebrates stdudentd who can be challenging but flourish under his guidance. The excitement and joy that students have around him every time I visit his school is proof of his impact. He is true change maker and has impacted me with his knowledge, approach to the work and talent and charisma. I'm rooting for you Mr. Webb

There are so many good and awesome things that can be said about Mr. Webb. He is very supportive of all the students as well as parents at Raymond Avenue Elementary School. He is an outstanding role model and mentor. Mr. Webb goes above and beyond his duties as BSAP admintrator. He has taken his personal time away from school to support students in their out-of-school activities. Who would do that? No one but Mr. Floyd Webb. He has also made personal visits to former students at their new schools as well to check on their well-being. As a grandparent, I appreciate all that Mr. Webb poured in my grandson's life. The votes are in: Mr. Webb should definitely be the 2025 Life Changer of the Year.

It is a distinct privilege to know Floyd Webb. His passion for teaching, for bettering the life of his students - and all people he comes in contact with - is palpable and always at the forefront of any conversation with him. His personal work ethic is inspiring, and his dedication to restorative justice is uplifting and motivating. It would be impossible for me to guess how many lives Mr. Webb has changed, but you can certainly count mine among them!

Bailee Grayson Posted 10 months ago

Mr. Webb is more than an outstanding candidate; he is a source of inspiration, patience, and meaningful change in our students' lives. He takes the time to model problem-solving, guide self-development, and encourage students to reach their fullest potential. Students praise him for his attentiveness and are in awe of the way he supports their growth. Beyond the classroom, Mr. Webb builds strong connections with parents in the community he serves, showing that his commitment goes far deeper than academics. The true measure of his impact is clear when former students return to share their accomplishments, crediting his influence as a driving force in their success. Mr. Webb is not only dedicated to education he is devoted to the students, and it shows and everything he does. Mr. Webb is deserving of this nomination as a shining example of the excellence our public schools can foster.

Tamara Webb Posted 10 months ago

Mr. Webb is a natural mentor and leader in the school community, and in each community to which he is attached - family, church, sporting, and others. In his school community, he consistently demonstrates how deeply he cares about all of the students in his network and he nurtures them holistically, as he does with his own child. The respect he garners from parents is testimony to the power and impact he has on those in his care. I have seen and heard the anticipation and joy of moms and dads who are heading to Mr. Webb's classes, restorative justice circles, and special programs. Some have enrolled their children in schools in which he is teaching just for the opportunity to have their son in his class. It is (unfortunately) rare these days to see a public school teacher and educator commit so intensely to developing young minds, like Mr. Webb does. He regularly blurs the boundaries between his personal and work life to ensure his students always get the attention they want, need, and deserve. He regularly attends his former and current students' extracurricular events, and he collects donations and personally gives reading materials, creative arts tools, and cultural resources to the school, for use in his classrooms, and to individual students. It has not always been easy, but after over three decades in the school trenches across three states, he has never shied away from what is truly his life calling - public school leadership. He has made an undisputable and positive impact in each district he has been chosen to serve. Mr. Webb is truly deserving of this honor, as both a proud legacy of what public schools can produce, and as a key force in continuing to help public schools maximize their potential and young minds.

Malinda Jackson Posted 10 months ago

For many years, Mr. Webb has committed himself to take the charge in uplifting, motivating, and educating youth in his schools and communities. I have the deepest respect for Mr. Webb and strongly believe he is deserving of this honor. I had the privilege of working alongside him as a room partner for more than ten years. Throughout our time together, I witnessed his unwavering dedication to students on and off campus, his tireless work ethic, and his ability to inspire both colleagues and learners alike. The consistency of his care and the positive impact he left on our school community is something I will always value and carry with me. He truly is a life changer.

Stephen Joseph Posted 11 months ago

Mr Webb is a community hero. His standards and commitment to be of service to every student that he comes in contact with is exceptional. But it doesn't stop there. Mr. Webb does the same for the parents of his students. As a former coach I've witnessed the endless positive impact that Mr. Webb has made in the lives of student athletes offering continuous support to high school and college. Every year Mr.Webb has several former students who are excelling in their academic and athletic goals. And it all started with the initial experience of the need of restorative justice educators like Mr. Webb. There is a critical need for educators like Mr. Webb in our schools and communities. For many children and students Mr . Webb is the first introduction to positive structure and discipline. Those foundational principles benefits these children and it becomes lifelong tools that leads to the future success of every student Mr . Webb encounters. Mr. Webb is a local hero to the children and parents here in Los Angeles.

Floyd is also a pillar of the Los Angeles community, serving with humility and passion through his church, local initiatives, and countless acts of service. In his personal life, he is a devoted caregiver to his parents and has raised an exceptional son who reflects his values of integrity, kindness, and perseverance. To know Floyd is to be inspired by his unwavering commitment to others. He embodies what it means to be a true life changer.

Floyd Webb has always been a very Positive and Proactive person! As my colleague at Dillard University, Floyd was among the top scholars in his discipline. He always perservered to give his best at all he committed to do. Floyd, also, uplifted and motivated his peers to always strive for excellence! I feel Floyd is so deserving of this nomination and even more deserving to win the award.

I have known Floyd for more than 30 years. He has always been a man of outstanding character so when he decided to become an educator, it just made sense. Floyd has shared with me the excitement of development and growth experienced by his kids, along with the satisfaction he enjoys in making connections and helping them to manage difficult situations. He is the type of educator you wish you could clone and have present in schools across the country. As a longtime friend, seeing him nominated for such an honor is testament to the type of person that he has always been. He consistently strives to live unselfishly, which is one of the most noble deeds any man can achieve. Well deserved brother! Continued success!

Floyd Webb is a man and educator of impact to which I have known for over 30 years. I learned to measure impact not just on the present but in what one has built and left behind. I am officially from Shreveport, Louisiana where Floyd was an educator in the Caddo Parish School System. My best friend, Dr TL Goree was the superintendent of schools there for 10 years up until last Summer so even as a Texas resident, I have still been connected to that school system community. Floyd spent over a decade in Caddo Schools and made significant impact well beyond the school walls for his students and their families. Floyd is still known within that community for the work he has done at an decision-maker level as well as on a "hands on" level. I know he has continued his best work in the Southern California area and is a beacon of light for more young men to join the educational ranks as a primary career of choice. Floyd is highly respected and admired in all circles he is a part of and this award would be more than appropriate for him as he has always put in the work! Scotty Culbert, PhD

Floyd Webb has been a colleague of mine for over a decade. I have always known him as person who would selflessly go above beyond for students and co-workers. He is a vital and an important team member to any organization. His presence helps establish a culture of camaraderie. Mr. Webb will attend the sporting and social events of his current and former students and invite you to attend as well. His students and coworkers love and admire him because he is solid, dependable, consistent and honest. Most importantly he is a high level educator who has done the hard work inside and outside the classroom for decades. This award is well-deserved and due.

I’m always in awe of Floyd Webb. He gives of himself to all students and staff at Raymond Elementary. He listens to students, calms them, checks on them, totally supports them, and really really cares. This is the exact way he treats his colleagues as well. He always has our back. Floyd is more like family than just being an educator and colleague. We are so lucky to have him as an integral part of our lives. He is extremely deserving of all accolades. An incredible and marvelous human being.
