Mr. Jeudy believes that creating a positive classroom environment as a music educator begins with building relationships and fostering a sense of belonging. Music, by its very nature, is collaborative and emotional, so he aims to create a space where students feel safe to take creative risks, express themselves, and support one another.

Mr. Jeudy starts by learning students' names quickly, showing genuine interest in their musical tastes and backgrounds, and making time for informal conversations. This helps build trust and shows students that they matter as individuals. Structure and consistency are also key components of his teachings. He sets clear expectations from the first day, not just for behavior but for how they treat each other with respect, curiosity, and encouragement.

In his classroom, mistakes are part of learning. Mr. Jeudy models vulnerability by making mistakes himself and showing how to respond to them constructively. This helps students feel comfortable participating, even when they're unsure. He also strives to make music relevant. Whether they're composing with technology, performing folk songs, or analyzing pop music, he chooses repertoire and activities that reflect students' cultures and interests. This validation of their identities contributes to a positive and inclusive environment.

Finally, Mr. Jeudy celebrates progress over perfection. He gives students frequent opportunities to reflect on their growth, praise their efforts, and share their work with peers. When students feel heard, valued, and supported, they are more engaged, motivated, and willing to collaborate, creating the kind of community where music learning thrives.

When Mr. Jeudy joined his current school, the music program was under-resourced and lacked a clear sense of identity. Instruments were broken or missing, technology was outdated, and student morale was low. Despite these challenges, he saw the potential and committed himself fully, not just professionally, but personally. Mr. Jeudy has selflessly purchased essential items like xylophones, PA systems, classroom percussion, and even small recording equipment to give his students opportunities they otherwise wouldn't have had.
