Pamela Joy Stewart was nominated anonymously.
As the Grade Level Leader for second grade, Ms. Stewart creates a positive classroom environment by encouraging diversity, inclusion, and equity. She feels very strongly that her students learn in a warm, loving environment that allows for strong peer collaboration, routine, and with appropriate and clear expectations. She works hard to create a team environment so that students know and understand the value of helping others.
Her heart's desire is that when her students enter her classroom, they feel welcome, supported, and successful. Her district has adopted a new curriculum for K-8 math this year called Illustrative Math. Grades 3-8 are rolling out the program for the 2025-26 school year. Grades K-2 will roll out this new program the following year (2026-2027). Ms. Stewart volunteered to be the only K-2 teacher to roll out the program for the 2025-2026 school year. She felt that as the Grade Level Leader, she could learn how the program works and then make herself available to help teach and train the other teachers. She hopes that this would help their rollout to be a little less intimidating.

I have known Joy for over 25 years and can’t imagine anyone more deserving of this award. She is a true people person, always ready to help and serve with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. I can honestly say I’ve never witnessed her in any other way in all the years I’ve known her. She is a “Joy” to be around and has an uncanny way of making others feel special after spending time with her.
Compassion, structure, and skill are the words that first come to mind when I think of Joy’s teaching style. She cares deeply about her students and ensures they feel supported and valued. Through consistent structure and predictability, she creates a safe learning environment while skillfully delivering the instruction her students need. She is truly deserving of this honor.
As the district ESL teacher, I work closely with Joy as she has English language learners in her classroom. Joy always goes above the expectations to meet each child where they are. She treats them with compassion, while at the same time pushing them to their full potential academically. I highly recommend Joy for Life Changer of the Year!
Joy is the best kind of teacher you could ever entrust your children with. She’s kind, loving and truly cares about those children in her care. If your children could grow up and follow her lead, you and your children would truly be blessed.

Joy is an amazing person all around! She is very caring and patient. She is in it for the kiddos all the way and to make a difference in their lives! Mrs. Stewart is an absolutely amazing teacher! She meets students where they are and then challenges them to go further; my daughter was so excited when she completed her multiplication table. The students always seemed to know where the line was, but also knew that Mrs.Stewart was in their corner rooting for them. As a parent, it was such a relief to know my daughter was going to be in the best hands. Joy is such a gem and our community is so lucky to have her!
Pamela Joy is an amazing woman, though I have only known her a short amount of time, her love of teaching others is a quality that shows just as bright as her smile! I've known joy since I was 15 years old. I am now 30. She has been such an inspiration for me growing up. She has one of the most kind people I've met. Joy is always looking out for others ! I have had the privilege to work alongside her as she has taken steps to be a lifelong learner. She is a leader through and through. My son was welcomed into her classroom in the middle of a challenging mid year classroom swap when class sizes got too large during and she made the transition smooth and welcoming, he had great memories from that time with Joy.

Mrs. Stewart is SO deserving of this! I have had the privilege of working in her classroom as a special education ed tech and she is a truly amazing teacher who you can just tell loves what she does! This coming school year I get to have the experience of being a parent of one of her students as my son will be in her class and just from the few minutes meeting her on step up day he is so excited! He keeps saying “ momma she’s just so nice!”

I am so happy to see this nomination for LifeChanger of the year for Pamela Joy Stewart! She began her career as an educator in the special education department, found she loved teaching and chose to further her career by pursuing full time teacher. She has been teaching at Turner Elementary in Turner Maine for 11 years, and in that time has become a much loved, respected advocate for every child, often advocating for every available resource for students and their families. I have seen the love and devotion expressed to her. She has risen to District Team Leader, and is respected among her colleagues. Pamela Joy Stewart has been a blessing to so many children in her career at Turner Elementary School Turner Maine. She began as as Educator of Children with disabilities- Ed Tech- and then pursued a career as full time teacher. In her years there, I have personally witnessed her interactions with children and families, and seen their respect and devotion to her. She has risen to district team leader, and has proven her love for children, teaching, and as leader . She is a constant and determined advocate for children , finding all additional resources available to help children and their family when needed, and fights for them.
She is honored, humbled and surprised to find herself nominated. She teaches for the love of it.
