This starts with building trusting relationships and celebrating each student’s unique strengths and abilities. Clear routines, visual supports, and differentiated instruction are essential in promoting independence and reducing anxiety. She incorporates social-emotional learning, sensory-friendly spaces, and frequent positive reinforcement to help students manage behavior and build confidence. Congratulations! I am definitely supporting you to be recognized for this honor! I am humbled and honored to have you as my co-teacher this year! You always do an amazing job with helping students and with assisting me with daily tasks. You truly exemplify what an exceptional special education teacher should be: capable, accepting, creative, positive, nurturing, sensitive to students' needs, and adept at your subject area.

I have known Ms. Croom well before she became a teacher. Prior to that time, her dedication to others well-being and learning were always a priority. I remember when her daughter was much younger the time and effort she put sewed into her so that she would be kind, respectful, and a scholar student. We periodically have conversations about all of her efforts and what she does inside of her classroom to be sure her students excel inside and outside the classroom. This nomination is without a doubt exactly where it should be, with Ms. Croom.

I’ve had the privilege of seeing firsthand just how much Deja Croom pours into her students, not just academically, but emotionally and personally. She’s the kind of teacher who stays after school without hesitation, making sure every student who needs a little extra help gets her full attention and support. I’ve also witnessed her incredible compassion when she stepped up to provide essentials for students who had lost everything during Hurricane Helena. Deja doesn’t just teach, she uplifts, encourages, and shows up for her students in every way possible. She’s a true role model, and I sincerely wish her the very best. She deserves all the recognition and more.

Deja Croom and I connected at Glenn Hills 3 years ago and she was my co-teacher with in my ELA classes. We hit it off instantly! She came in and started working, even with those that weren't on her case load. The students loved her! From this day, Deja and I connected in other avenues too. She is truly AMAZING and she will definitely TEACH TO THE TOP!

Once upon a time, I wanted to leave the teaching profession. I had given all that I thought that I could give with no real results; however, you came into my life and spoke life back into me. Through your friendship and guidance, I finished getting my teaching certification and I went on to pass several GACE assessments. You're a walking light and an exemplar of great inspiration to service the full child! Thank you so much for helping me help myself!
