Mrs. Armstrong is my daughter's kindergarten teacher. Everyday I pick her up from school she tells me how much she adores Mrs. Armstrong! The knowledge my 5 year old has gained just in this first month of school mind blowing!

I may be biased but my wife goes above and beyond for our family and children. I remember the time she came home from work and started talking about how we needed to become foster parents because so many children in her school needed safety and security. She has a heart of gold and wants to protect all children. While being a teacher, she has taken care of me due to my health, her stepchildren, and 3 children that we are hoping to adopt. We have fostered several children, provided over night care for those in the system, and have fought for children's rights. She will come home from work worrying if children at school have enough clothes, snacks, etc. I feel my wife deserves this award because she always provides the best at school and for our 9 person home. Our family and any family is lucky to have my wife in their lives. We could not be more proud of her and how she cares for all.

Cortney is an AMAZING person. Her love for kids is unmatched.

Jessica Posted 11 months ago

Cortney is an AMAZING human being. There were not many teachers who were willing to accept me during my student teaching placement, but she was one of the few that I felt encouraged by. I had one of her children while I was student teaching and she was always extremely in tune with how to support her daughter, her daughter’s teacher, and myself through challenging situations. Some of my students also had her as a teacher the previous year and many had positive experiences and comments about her and her classroom. She cares deeply for education and helps students to be successful in their own educational journeys as they are adjusting to school life and everything it endures. Not only does she care about education, but she cares for her students social emotional balances with the challenges they may bring to school. She is eager to step in to help with pretty much anything and always lends an ear with ideas to try in any situation. Cortney deserves this award more than anyone I know.

Jenny Hall Posted 11 months ago

Courtney is a fantastic teacher, person all around. I had a foster child who would not get close to anyone and had a lot of internal pain, which caused him learning issues also. Ms. Armstrong was able to get through that wall and get him to open up and he actually learned under her and she actually was open to adopt him, but that didn’t happen and he moved on. She made a huge impact on him personally and professionally, she deserves a huge award for her compassion, her passionate desire to help her students to achieve the best they can be!

Kellie Posted 11 months ago

Mrs. Armstrong is not just a wonderful teacher she becomes a family member of all of her students, she has to have the biggest heart in the world to care about so many children. When my granddaughter(Kae Kae) was in her class she made her feel so special. I really don’t think Mrs Armstrong knows the impact she made on Kae Kae and our family. Out of every and any contact we have had with teachers I have NEVER encountered a teacher like her. If anyone deserves this award it should be Courtney Armstrong. She has been and still is making such a positive impact on her students and she will always be remembered as the best teacher in her students academic years.

Mrs. Armstrong is an amazing advocate to the children. My son had her as a preschool teacher. Preschool was a rough year for him with outside of school issues. Mrs. Armstrong did everything to make him feel loved and welcomed. She was a listening ear on hard days. Supported and loved him through everything. My son still talks about Mrs. Armstrong to this day and says how amazing she was and how she helped him through one of his toughest years.

Since meeting my sister-in-law 9 years ago, I have always known her to be passionate about children. She not only is a teacher and great Aunt to all her nieces and nephews…but she has fostered many children too. Bottom line…she has a soft spot for kids and it is reflected in all she does.

I have had the pleasure of working with Courtney Armstrong this past year. She always has a smile on her face and is very enthusiastic!! She is always a great team player and pleasant to work with. I was able to work in her classroom a couple of days and her class was a very well organized group and very pleasant to be in. She has also reached out and adopted 3 beautiful children which has had to be a learning experience and she has adapted so well considering they are a different ethnicity. She’s always loving and kind and I I am looking forward to working together with her this year!!!

Cortney is one of those rare individuals who leaves a lasting impact on everyone she meets. She’s an extraordinary teacher with a true gift for helping students grow not just academically, but as people. Her love for children is at the heart of everything she does — both in the classroom and at home. She has dedicated her life to fostering kids, creating a safe, loving space where they can heal, grow, and feel truly valued. Her compassion, patience, and unwavering dedication to others make her a light in so many lives. Anyone who knows or learns from her is better for it.

Melissa Pfeifer Posted 11 months ago

Cortney has always shown a special interest in children, even as a young adult. As a new Aunt, she was always excited to see and help with my girls. They adored her. Her path led her to teaching other children, again something she was passionate about. She then became very active in and continues to pursue to her love of fostering and helping children…which she continues to do. She has earned the nickname in our household of “There was an old woman who lived in a shoe”. Cortney continues to always have an entire house full of children…all ages…all avenues of life, that she cares for despite the challenges of parenting such a large group.

Lizzy Posted 11 months ago

Cortney is an amazing teacher and human being. She works hard to make sure each and every child’s needs are met to promote the best learning outcomes. She also is a foster mom to three children. She has fought hard to provide safety and stability for them despite the state trying to reunite them with their birth mother. In Cortney’s care they are thriving and growing in a loving, safe, and secure environment.

Hollie Posted 11 months ago

Cortney is a great teacher and role model for the students. She takes every opportunity she can to help the children learn and grow as individuals. If she sees an opportunity for the children to learn from, she will take it no matter where that location may be. The children love her and feel safe and secure when they are with her.

Dusty Posted 11 months ago

I am thrilled to comment on this! Ms. Armstrong is a former coworker of mine. I worked with her during a time in my life when I had made some poor life choices, and she was one of few people who made me feel safe enough to confide in her. And having her support made it so much easier to start turning things around. Courtney provided a catalyst for positive change in my life, and I’m forever grateful!!

Cortney has always put her students first. If they don’t have something such as clothing food heat water she is always trying to find the resources the child and family need. She always wants her students to be the BEST that they can be. Cortney is a very caring and loving teacher.

Lori Miller Posted 11 months ago

Ms. Armstrong is nothing short of amazing. As a first time mother sending my kid to school for the first time she made me feel my kid was safe and well respected. She always treated every student as they were her child. Never once did I worry about sending my child to school while under the care of Ms. Armstrong. My child came home almost every day talking about how thankful he was for her. When she was not able to attend my child’s preschool graduation due to an illness she recorded her speech to ensure we heard her message. Regardless that she was not present her message was HEARD and everyone in the crowd was wiping away their tears. It was the most heartwarming message I received about our children and Zanesville City Schools are so lucky to have her!

Jan Bradshaw Posted 11 months ago

Ms Armstrong is great to work with in the classroom. She strives to always listen to what her students are saying, while also making sure the students stay on task. She pushes hard for them to learn what they will need to know for testing later in the year, but she also breaks it up in fun and educational ways. When a student looks to be having a bad start to the day, she takes them aside and listens to or has them sit in a quiet space to gather their own thoughts. At the end of the day, she treats them like she does her own 3 young children. She treats them with patience and respect but does expect them to do their best!
