Rhonda Malloy was nominated anonymously.

Ms. Malloy creates a positive classroom environment from the moment her students arrive, greeting each one personally at the door each morning. She builds strong, meaningful relationships by asking thoughtful "get to know you" questions at the start of the year, setting the tone for a supportive and welcoming classroom community. As a teacher in a self-contained 7th and 8th-grade special education classroom, Ms. Malloy understands the importance of recognizing effort and celebrating positive behavior. Her students are motivated by rewards that acknowledge their hard work, whether it's a small treat like candy or time to build with Legos at the end of the day. She also takes pride in displaying student work, allowing them to feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in their achievements.

Each week, Ms. Malloy holds a special drawing to encourage positive behavior further. Students earn entries into a canister throughout the week, and a guest, such as the principal, school nurse, or another teacher, draws the winner. The chosen student selects a prize from a variety of items, including Rubik's Cubes, McDonald's gift cards, candy, and more. Through these thoughtful routines and consistent recognition, Ms. Malloy creates a classroom environment where students feel valued, supported, and excited to learn.
