Trudi Lawless was nominated anonymously.

Ms. Lawless understands that a positive environment comes when there is mutual respect. She also thinks a teacher who loves their subject matter fosters students who love the subject, too.

Ms. Lawless teaches a basic installer class in a school created to help students struggling to finish high school. She has retired from full-time teaching, but still teaches this one class twice a year to give the students options and opportunities. 

Ms. Lawless has been Teacher of the Year three times, twice in Florida and once in Georgia. She has helped establish the Industrial Maintenance training program at 12 for Life.

Trudi loves what she teaches and that love is infectious. Everyone likes learning from someone who is excited about their content. Her students also respond to her compassion, they know how much she cares about them personally and academically. Ms. Lawless also goes above and beyond to support her colleagues. She is currently helping me get acclimated to my new role in technical education. I would have been floundering without her guidance and support. She strives to positively change the lives of all around her!

Ms. Lawless has done an amazing job of setting the Industrial Maintenance training program at 12 for Life. Through this program Ms. Lawless helps students gain advantage in the workforce upon graduation.

Trudi loves her students like they were her own children. She even bakes cookies for them on a regular basis. She is very knowledgeable in trade skills and relates well with our students, helping them connect their learning in Basic Installers Class to real world experiences. So thankful for her servant’s heart toward our students!

Trudi pours her heart and soul into everything she touches. She has gone the extra mile by offering our students opportunities to expand their skills tools!! She has gone above & beyond by: Joining our local Golden K club so she could help sponsor a Key Club for our students. She got approved to be an Uber or Lyft driver so she could drive students home that needed transportation to and from work. She is getting her bus driving license so she will be able to transport students to field trip opportunities that will help them learn more about Manufacturing. She even coordinated a trip to Japan this past summer for students and chaperoned them. She helps her team at school do anything they need help with! I cannot say enough about her. She desires this to help fund yet another opportunity for our students. She is amazing!
