She is a great friend, always willing to help with anything. And always ready to have fun. She is very good with my kids in how she plays with them and explains things to them that they don't understand.

Having Maria as a cousin who is and has been an amazing teacher for years is truly a blessing. Being in education myself I know I can always go to her with any question and she’ll always come up with an answer. She’s always helping me out with resources or ideas I can use in the classroom and it’s truly so helpful. Maria will randomly check in with me to see how I’m doing with my students and I just know she cares so much for our little humans. The dedication, support and joy she brings to the classroom is an inspiration. She’s constantly pushing me to further my education and grow in my career and that only comes from someone who cares about others. You go Maria!

I have known Ms.ventura since our college years back in cal state Fullerton; she has always wanted to be a teacher and demonstrated her dedication to education a long time ago. I have had the privilege to be her friend since then and have watched her advocate for her kids and school. She gave her students courage when the odds were against them. She uplifts her friends when they themselves don’t know that they need it. Maria is a person that will always be in your corner and now it’s my turn to show up for her. I wish I knew the words to fully describe what a great person she is; but I tried.

I’ve had the absolute joy of working with Maria since 2018, and in that time, she has become one of my favorite work besties and one of the most inspiring educators I know. We both teach kindergarten, and over the years, we’ve partnered on everything from community projects through our school to being site leaders for the After School Program. Maria is more than a colleague—she’s like family. We’ve shared snacks, tears, and so many moments of laughter that we’ve lost count. We’ve stood by each other through personal crises and celebrated wins, both big and small. Teaching with her is truly the best. What makes Maria exceptional is her passion and creativity in the classroom. She always finds innovative ways to meet the needs of all our students, and she wholeheartedly believes that every child can and will learn. Her commitment to our students and our school community is unwavering, and it’s clear that she is deeply loved by everyone around her. Maria Ventura is a fabulous teacher! She moves her kids to independence, preparing them for future grades.

Alma Posted 12 months ago

My sister is a kindergarten teacher who quietly puts in an incredible amount of thought and effort every single day. She doesn’t just follow a curriculum, she pays close attention to where each student is emotionally and academically, and adjusts to meet them there. She’s constantly finding creative ways to bring in support, often reaching out to her own network to get supplies or resources the school can’t provide. What impresses me most is how much she notices the little things. what a kid might need that day, what sparks their curiosity and uses that to shape how she teaches. It’s the kind of work that doesn’t always get seen, but makes a real difference. Super proud of the teacher she is.

From her thoughtful SEL practices to the way she empowers students with voice and choice, she models what it means to teach with intention and love. She is not only an incredible educator but also a remarkable human being: generous, dependable, and full of light. There is no one more deserving of the LifeChanger of the Year award. Maria changes lives every single day, and I am endlessly grateful to call her my colleague and friend.

I had the privilege of attending graduate school with Maria, and she is a phenomenal teacher. Despite already being bilingual herself, Maria constantly sought new ways to better support her bilingual students, especially in a school district where all curriculum is delivered in English. Through our coursework, she embraced strategies like translanguaging to ensure her students could thrive academically and linguistically. Maria’s deep knowledge of each student’s background and her genuine love for them shine through in everything she does. She is a passionate, dedicated educator who goes above and beyond to make a difference in her students’ lives.
